Certified instructor description: Three separate workouts: A yoga fundamentals program plus short morning and evening programs. “Beginner Basics” is a great introduction to yoga. You’ll learn and practice a variety of classic yoga poses like Down Dog, Sun Salutation, Warrior, Chair and Cat. Always thorough — but never “mystical” or intimidating — the instruction is friendly, precise and informative. It includes terminology, breathing techniques and body positions (using non-technical, easy-to-understand cuing). The AM program features “opening” poses to start your day. The PM workout relaxes and de-stresses your body at the end of the day. A yoga strap and yoga block are optional. ©2009. DVD has: Close captions, Region 1.

YogaWorks Beginners AM/PM

Beginners AM/PM Yogaworks
Great video for the beginner. - posted by Mary Lou on 3/15/2012
Perfect for Beginners
This dvd really is perfect for beginners - simple poses and explanations, but without too much talking and standing around. I bought it for my husband who is a complete beginner to yoga - he runs and weight trains - and was worried he would be bored or irritated. He loves it! I highly recommend this dvd for beginners. - posted by Lori on 1/9/2012
Relaxing yoga workout
I enjoy the have a video to follow to get going in the morning and one to follow when I get home in the evening. Both are short, basic, and easy to follow. Just what I need to start my morning workout program or to end a long day. - posted by Wanbli on 9/22/2011
This is for just starting yoga....good but way to simplistic
I didn't feel that I got any benefit from this as it was too simplistic. This is definitely for those just starting or inflexible with injury or disability. I guess I should return because I definitely won't use it. - posted by Mackenzie on 7/1/2011
Excellent for Beginners
For a beginner to yoga like myself who has never done more than a few classes at the gym and some poses to stretch, this DVD is perfect. The longer workout is great for when I have more time and want to do a complete yoga workout while the shorter ones are excellent for when you want to do some yoga but don't have the time or energy to do the full workout or they're even great to keep you in a yoga routine if you only do yoga once or twice a week. The pose guide is especially helpful for learning and improving form and flexibility. - posted by Adrienne on 4/28/2011
Great for beginners!
This is a wonderful video for beginners. The instructor always gives options. I especially enjoy the AM and PM workouts. They are only 10 minutes long so that I can easily work them into my schedule. A great buy! - posted by Sue on 3/10/2011
I'll keep trying
Yep, I'm definitely a beginner. I think the workout will eventually be good - I'm just frustrated right now trying to watch and do at the same time. Since, I'm unfamiliar with the movements, I'll have to watch the video a few times to make sure I'm doing things correctly and then actually do the routine. Frustrating not being able to do things right out of the box. - posted by Sharon on 2/12/2011
great for beginners
This is not my first yoga tape but it is excellent for beginners. I like that there is a section to learn the poses before you actually do them. Also the instructor, Patty, is excellent at cueing the poses so you don't have to be looking. It moves along seamlessly and is an excellent tutor for beginners, not real difficult. I consider myself a beginner/intermediate and I am 49 years old. - posted by Julie on 2/1/2011
a keeper
I've only done the "learning the poses" section but I like it. She's thorough and provides modifications for those of us who a not as flexible :-) - posted by Denise on 1/14/2011
Good
I'm not a beginner, but I enjoy the other YogaWorks DVDs and wanted to try this. I think it's great, approachable workout. All of the YogaWorks instructors are personable and polite, and I enjoy their teaching style. I'm only downgrading this one star because I felt like the order of poses was a little bit awkward at times (i.e. you're already laying down, then she has you sit up for one bend, then lay down again. It was weird). - posted by Jamie on 1/13/2011

Reading a Time Graph
X
Each workout shows a time graph of the workout sequence, from beginning to end. For example, this workout starts with a 10-minute warm-up and ends with a 10-minute stretch. In between, you'll do aerobics, then toning, then a cooldown.

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.
