Certified instructor description: A fluid, dancer-style workout done at a near-cardio tempo. It’s elegant but tough. You’ll combine graceful ballet moves with proven Pilates matwork to create a lean, strong, flexible body. Andrea Rogers’ “challenge zone” technique maximizes the intensity; she’s constantly cuing you to push yourself a little harder (e.g. one more pulse, one inch higher, one step further). The DVD begins with gently-flowing — but intense — upper-body dumbbell moves. Then it’s lower-body “barrework” — doing pilés, tondus and arabeques as you hold on to a chairback. Finally, you’ll end with core-focused Pilates and rotational exercises. It’s all done barefoot, so you can really feel the movements. Requires 2 to 5 lb. dumbbells. ©2010. DVD has: Chapter menus, Wide screen.

Good One
I really like this workout. I have a hard time making it through, hopefully after a few weeks I will get stronger. Can't wait for the results. 4 stars - posted by Deb on 5/17/2012
Xtend barre
This is a very effective video for toning and some cardio. Love it. Upper body fantastic if you use 3lb weights. - posted by Tammy on 5/4/2012
Xtend Barre Challenge
Though I'm in my 60's and know ballet, I find this workout tough but something I can strengthen myself with. I used 2-lb weights and wondered why I was such a weakling but I've read others' posts who mentioned the toughness of the workout. You can make it tougher by bending your knees more in plies, raising your legs higher, using heavier weights or vice versa of making it easier by doing the opposite. I also found it rather fast in sections but I guess that gives the added cardio benefit. The core section was challenging also for an intermediate. I was able to alter certain positions to be more favorable to my battered knees. I did complete the entire workout today. (NOTE to COLLAGE VIDEO: Please spell your ballet terms correctly -- "plie, tendu, arabesque." THANKS!!) - posted by Christine on 4/19/2012
Great Workout
I own several Bar workouts, and bought this one for variety. I really like the instructor, as she cues well and doesn't waste too much time setting up the moves. Her arm routine is killer, and I had to drop down from 3 lbs to 1 lb for the triceps. She really gets into the muscle, and I love that. She does moves that are not on other dvds that I own. All in all, I enjoy it, and would buy more workouts of hers. - posted by Sarianna on 4/6/2012
The 55 minutes flies by
Great workout - I feel longer and leaner and like a ballet dancer instead of a middle aged losing a battle with gravity. This is one workout where I don't watch the clock and that is saying a lot given that it is almost an hour. - posted by Connie on 4/1/2012
Great work out!
I really love this DVD. To be able to do a barre class in your home with an instructor just for you is great. To do a barre class would cost $25 a class. This DVD is a great price! I give myself $25 every time I do it. - posted by Jenny on 3/29/2012
Great workout!!
I love dance for fitness. This workout really does the trick. - posted by Cathy on 3/29/2012
Fantastic, well-rounded workout
Xtend Barre is one of the better barre workouts out there. It targets all your major muscle groups while increasing flexibility and keeps your heart rate up throughout - a fantastic full body routine in under an hour. My only complaint was the very fast pace - the precise positioning required can be difficult to maintain when trying to keep up. However, you can slow down and still feel the burn - I did! - posted by Kyra on 2/21/2012
Ouch! Sore buns!
I love this workout. I need to do low impact exercise for the most part because of a foot injury and this video does the trick. It is definitely a bun burner and actually cardio too! Great for days when I really don't want to work out but it gets the job done and then some! - posted by Jennifer on 2/17/2012
LOVE Collage Video
Any video/dvd that I have ever bought from Collage Video I ALWAYS love. The fact that you can watch them before you buy them and that you get such a GREAT description is awesome. The Xtend barre Lean & Chiseled is a GREAT workout. I'm glad I decided to purchase it along with a couple of other ones!! - posted by Deanna on 2/9/2012

Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.
