Certified instructor description: A very well-cued video featuring recognizable, high-energy Motown songs. Upbeat and fun, you’ll barely know you’re “working out” as you’re groovin’ to classic Motown hits. From chugs, shimmies and hip sways to freestyle upper-body moves, it feels like a 60’s dance party. Fast/slow cycles and full range-of-motion routines are featured. Songs include “I Heard It Through the Grapevine,” “Signed, Sealed and Delivered,” “This Old Heart of Mine” and “Uptight.” This 1993 IDEA Instructor of the Year makes it all easy to follow with her cue-ahead teaching style (so you always know what’s coming). Songs not by original artists. DVD includes a bonus 15-minute, mostly-toning workout. ©2002. DVD has: Chapter menus, Music only option.

Too many movements. Do not stay on one dance step long enough to learn the step. - posted by judith on 2/23/2012
Lots of Fun
This was my first Tamilee workout, and I really enjoyed myself. She's personable, funny and does a good job with cuing. The workout itself is a ton of fun, with good music and not complicated choreography. The whole non-original artists performing the songs didn't bother me, nor did Tamilee bursting into song now and then. I also had to modify a couple of things, as you can't pivot like that on carpet, but overall I could follow along. I got a nice sweat going, and my heart was beating hard at the end. - posted by Jamie on 10/11/2011
Wonderful short video
I loved this video. Even though it's short, it is fun and the dance steps are well choreographed. Tamilee does excellent cuing and she's a superb instructor. Great buy for the price. - posted by Tipi on 9/6/2011
Wow what fun
this is a great video almost to fun for exercising....gets the job done...but you do feel like you have worked out....would recommend to all - posted by Quisha on 8/30/2011
easy to follow/versatile
I just did this for the first time and really enjoyed it. The moves are not too hard...a little confusing on some of the footwork but not frustrating like some videos. The photography is wonderful...the camera actually stays on their whole bodies so you aren't doing a move, then a closeup of their faces and then a long shot and find you are behind. The higher impact moves are easily done low...instead of jumping I just bounced up and down on my toes. Like she says you get out of it what you put into it. If you do the slower moves slow and easy and then really pump it up during the more active moves you could get pretty close to an interval workout. I would put this on a par with a Richard Simmons video for ease of learning and doing although Tammilee is light years ahead of him with her style of cuing. I hesitated to get this cause it's not the Tammilee I'm use to...but I'm really glad I did. It just seems strange to see her so happy instead of serious and honestly a little dull. For me this is a whole new Tammilee. Totally worth 5 stars...I don't see anything wrong with it. Make it the workout you need on any given day. - posted by Phoenix on 4/4/2011
Good for Low Impact Days
I do like Tamilee's videos. This one is good for "lighter" workout days; when you want to move but don't want high impact. Dance moves are easy to follow. Wish the songs had been cone by the original artists, however. - posted by Marie on 1/20/2011
Move to Mo-Town
I have used this dvd for at least five years. Whenever I'm bored with my stable of exercise dvds but I need to move, I put on this fun workout. It's great for beginners, and if you get creative it's easy to boost the workout that's provided. Plus it has a terrific bonus "I Want That Body" workout to give you spot toning work. No one does cueing like Tamilee. She's just fun and encouraging at the same time. Her work has made me very picky about the other dvds I choose. - posted by Adriana on 11/12/2010
I liked it
I enjoyed the workout. I am not much of a dancer and couldn't follow the steps very well, but I just kept moving anyway and the music is great, just what I was looking for. - posted by Jean on 9/23/2010
Disappointing - video clip is misleading
I am very much a beginner exerciser. I've been doing walking and step (without the step) videos. I wanted something different. I think the video clip is misleading. The routines are not as easy as they are portrayed in the video clip. If I still had the receipt I would return the video. - posted by kjl on 8/19/2010
Not for me
I really wanted to like this workout. I love to dance and I love Motown, but this is a disappointment. I found the choreography boring and the music poor--bad cover versions of well-known songs. And Tamilee didn't motivate me; instead, she got on my nerves (esp when she sang!) There are some positives. It's short (33 minutes) and might be good to get a beginning exerciser moving again since it's not very strenuous. - posted by Anna on 7/23/2010

Reading a Time Graph
X
Each workout shows a time graph of the workout sequence, from beginning to end. For example, this workout starts with a 10-minute warm-up and ends with a 10-minute stretch. In between, you'll do aerobics, then toning, then a cooldown.

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.

You can play only the individual workout segments you want by picking them off a chapter menu (one at a time).

This feature allows you to play only the music, without any cuing (after you’ve learned the movements and you just want to do the workout without listening to the instruction).
