Certified instructor description: A balanced program that gracefully blends Pilates techniques and weight-room style toning. It’s an effective format that stretches and lengthens your body as it shapes and tones each muscle. Classic gym-style exercises are “softened” with more fluid transitions and a greater range of motion. For example, instead of a standard start-then-stop lunge, you’ll lean into the lunge and then gently pull back (so the muscle stretches on the “lean in” and strengthens on the “pull back”). Upper-body moves have a similar feel (e.g. large, diagonal motions like a Pilates “pulley arms” routine). The floorwork features mostly classic Pilates core exercises. Ellen’s cuing is clear and refined. Requires 2 to 5 lb. dumbbells. ©2007.

Ellen Barrett's Slim Sculpt

GREAT
I have several of her workouts and they are all great. I love her "big moves"! She really keeps you in check with your positioning and keeps you focused on your workout. Just great. - posted by Pam on 1/26/2012
Slim Sculpt
I already have a copy of this DVD. It's one of my favorites so I bought it for a friend who just retired. It's a good cardio workout and also excellent toning at the same time. Exercising barefoot feels wonderful. I have knee issues & this tape is one I do almost every week without being achy afterwards. It's low impact but a very good total workout. Ellen has a wonderful, positive & encouraging style. All in all, it's one of my favorite workouts. - posted by Linda on 1/5/2012
Ellen is great
When I was younger, I never felt I had to do strength (or sculpt) training, because I was lean and muscular. Running, or some aerobic tapes, were enough. Now that time has passed, I find I need toning tapes like this. Ellen Barrett is my favorite instructor right now; and Slim Sculpt is a good toning tape to add to the more aerobic ones. - posted by Nayana on 12/15/2011
Very good teacher and easy to follow.
Love all of her exercise videos. They are easy to follow and always a good workout, not impossible, but always challenging ! They always help me relax after a tough day. - posted by Sheri on 12/2/2011
Slim Sculpt
This video is great! Not as easy at it looks, your arms and shoulders will be burning. I would use light weight, or you may damage your shoulder tissue. It has a lengthening effect on the body, and I feel my posture is better. Excellent choice, and you will sweat. - posted by Wendella on 11/17/2011
I'm keeping this one
I like Ellen Barrett, she is encouraging and moves at a fair pace. This video is a good workout for the arms and you start to feel it towards the end of the video. - posted by Lorra Lee on 11/10/2011
awesome!!!
love this workout!!!! This is must have to any collection of workout dvds. Great workout with the arms. You will sweat and feel like a million bucks after this workout....must have. - posted by kathleen on 9/29/2011
harder than it looks
You'd think with one lb. weights it would be a piece of cake, but she really gets you working. It is much faster than "Barefoot Cardio" and works a lot of muscle groups. Ellen Barrett is very good at telling you how each move benefits you. In her "Studio" videos she is much more genuine than she was with the "Crunch" series, and I like them better. I am 66 years old, and not in great shape. It was challenging but not a wipe out. - posted by SB on 9/23/2011
I really like this
This is a great work out, kills your arms in a good way. I love having this in my rotation. - posted by Danielle on 8/11/2011
Wonderful workout!
I bought this DVD a while ago but just started using it recently. It is great and you will definitely feel good after doing it. I use 2 lb weights and find these are just right for now, although I imagine I will progress to heavier weights over time. The emphasis on coordinated total body conditioning is unique and really seem to improve posture and overall coordination. Definitely a "feel good" experience and highly recommended! - posted by Jean on 8/7/2011

Reading a Time Graph
X
Each workout shows a time graph of the workout sequence, from beginning to end. For example, this workout starts with a 10-minute warm-up and ends with a 10-minute stretch. In between, you'll do aerobics, then toning, then a cooldown.

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.
