Certified instructor description: Five complete workouts. Every one features smooth-flowing, non-stop yoga poses carefully selected to focus on a specific movement type. Each day, you choose the workout that matches your preferences. “Power Foundation” is an easy-to-follow yoga intro. “Sun Salutations” has lots of gentle toning sequences (e.g. sun salutations that flow into mountain poses). “Standing Poses” features sometimes-challenging body-sculpting standing moves. “Back Bends” targets upper-body tension. “Power Restoration” has deep stretches designed for total relaxation. The DVD lets you choose “detailed cuing” to learn the moves or “minimal cuing” when you just want to follow along. Beautifully filmed on volcanic, oceanside rocks. ©2010. DVD has: Wide screen.

Rodney Yee's Ultimate Power Yoga

love this video
I love it for two basic reasons: it's easy to adapt and fit in my workout schedule (my other favorites run about an hour, and sometimes that just won't work); the Power Foundation is an excellent core routine that does exactly what I need and is immensely satisfying to do. I find that the Foundation routine is the only short routine I've done that makes me feel as though I have actually done real yoga. I feel stretched, strengthened and centered. The only weakness of the DVD is the voice over which could have been better edited. It gets too far ahead of the routine in a couple spots. There is a minimal instruction option that might rectify this, but I haven't tried it as I prefer full instruction. Personally, it doesn't bother me that much because I have years of yoga experience and have grown used to adapting video routines. - posted by Darle on 4/20/2012
fit in perfectly
I try to keep my workout videos to only 20 minutes because I know I can commit that amount of time when working out by myself without getting distracted or making excuses. These 5 routines are just right. They challenge and increase my flexibility. I also notice the strengthening benefits. The best part is that I can vary the workouts to what I need at the time or do them in order Monday through Friday. Excellent pay! - posted by HoneyCarmel on 2/1/2012
An excellent dvd, however...
I've been doing yoga on and off for a few years, but I'd still consider myself a beginner. I'm also very un-flexible, but find I can do most of the poses on these workouts. I enjoy the different segments on this dvd and the short length makes it perfect for days when I don't have more than 20 minutes, but don't want to right off the day without having done anything physical. The segment for your back is particually good, I notice quickly how much better my back feels after I do it. However, it really bothers me that the cueing doesn't match the poses in a lot of places. It seems like if you're doing your voice over after you've filmed your video, it really shouldn't be that hard to make sure this is right! - posted by Kirsti on 10/28/2011
Love it!
This is great DVD. I really appreciated that there is more than one yoga routine to use. I get bored easily so it is great to change up what is in my rotation. Rodney's voice is soothing and really helps you to relax, which is important to me. The length of each segment make the DVD great for days when I am short on time. I will admit, I have trouble doing any other yoga work outs, as Rodney Yee's style and voice just really work for me. I am really happy I picked this video up. - posted by Natalie on 8/12/2011
I Think I'm In Love
This was my first Rodney Yee yoga experience although I considered him in the past. I was afraid that he would be boring. I was WRONG!!! Although not exactly like the power yoga I am used to doing which is a more athletic strength training type of yoga Rodney's yoga left me feeling relaxed and stretched out. His vocals during the segments were very soothing. I liked all of the segments equally but found that the first segment is a great hip opener for me and not accomplished with other yoga that I have done. While I took off one star because I prefer more athletic/strength power yoga, I will definitely consider more of Rodney's work. - posted by Missy on 5/15/2011
Good Segments to add onto a Workout
I thought I could replace the in-studio vinyasa yoga class I was attending with this video. While its good, I don't work up the sweat, or burn the calories, like I did going to the class. Still, I like how you can pick and choose segments and this is a good overall yoga, just not the "power yoga" video I thought it would be. I am glad I have it, since I've used it a few times, mostly as a good add-on yoga/stretch session after cardio videos. - posted by Tara on 3/24/2011
Awesome!
There is no Yoga Instructor like Rodney Yee. His video workouts are my addiction and Ultimate Power Yoga is one of my favorites. The instruction is clear, workout is a challenge and yet provides relaxation for mind and body at the same time. I highly recommend this video. - posted by Jeanine on 3/5/2011
Ultimate Power Yoga
I really like this to do on my non-cardio, non-weight lifting days. I still feel like I get workout, but none of the stress on my body(knees, specifically)that the running & jumping rope workouts do. It's nice to be able to pick & choose the segments depending on your mood or challenge level. Would recommend this to anyone, but it's best to have some yoga experience to make it easier. - posted by Sue on 2/17/2011

Another excellent video from Rodney Yee
I have been practicing yoga daily for 45 years. I love Rodney Yee's style of practice, his cues are perfect and this video with several different practices is a wonderful addition to my collection. He is my favorite yoga teacher! His practices flow and his style works well for my tastes. He understands and honors the core of yoga. I love his videos. - posted by Cynthia on 1/20/2011

Reading a Time Graph
X
Each workout shows a time graph of the workout sequence, from beginning to end. For example, this workout starts with a 10-minute warm-up and ends with a 10-minute stretch. In between, you'll do aerobics, then toning, then a cooldown.

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.
