Certified instructor description: Smooth flowing kettlebell exercises that build lean muscle as they raise your heart rate. The first workout is well-cued and uncomplicated — it’s specifically designed to inspire a safe, fat-burning tempo throughout the entire program. The moves are sequenced for both effectiveness and fluidity (e.g. a traditional overhead press is combined with a faster-paced, total-body squat/swing progression). The mostly-floorwork abs program uses the kettlebell to boost intensity and results. DVD also has a 34-minute kettlebell tutorial. Paul explains the technique, then he demos the exercise; finally, he has you “internalize” it with 30-60 seconds of practice. ©2010. DVD has: Wide screen.

Paul Katami's Kettlebell Drills

Paul is Great
Love Paul, but I wish the workout (not the clinic) was a little longer and it is expensive. - posted by EAFN on 5/18/2012
Love it
Paul Katami does an excellent job on this video. The movements are demonstrated first and then cued very well. He is very encouraging and challenging. He doesn't make you feel like a failure if you can't do a move perfectly and humbly admits when something is hard. His form appears to be perfect. He offers easier and more challenging alternatives for some of the moves. I definitely feel like I've worked out before and afterwards, but am not crippled up sore the next day. - posted by Paige on 5/17/2012
Jury's still out
Not sure if I like this or not. A couple of the moves are a little too *combo* for me. I don't like the turns with the lunges so I don't do them. I stay in place and lunge. I find turning quickly and lunging hurts my knees. I do sweat a lot and I feel like it's a good workout but was it worth $19.99? No. I have DVD's I paid half that price for and like them much better. - posted by Vsgirl on 5/10/2012
I didn't like it much
I wasn't so impressed with the video! :( - posted by Blanca Torres on 5/10/2012
Paul Katami -- I LOVE YOU!
This kettlebell workout is beautifully crafted. A wonderful complete body workout with a miracle fitness implement. I'm looking forward to many gains as I regularly pull this DVD out. I should note, I didn't do the clinic since I took a Kettlebell workshop in my town before buying this video. - posted by Kaye on 5/3/2012
Great workout
I just started getting into kettlebells and did the drill and ab workout the other day for the 1st time. It was great. It packs a punch for the 35 minutes for the drills. I worked up a sweat. Definitely a keeper. Looking forward to purchasing more of his dvd's, they also look awesome. - posted by Tricia on 5/2/2012
These things are much more intense than they look!
I'm new to Kettlebells and purchased this for instruction & simplicity. Both were found on this well cued workout and Paul is very likable instructor. This is a quality production which is becoming more important to me as I use more videos on a regular basis (though I wish they didn't run credits for each section). I had to research on line about which size KB to start with. At $2 per pound, I didn't want to own 3 so ended up with 15 lb. KB (I'm intermediate-advanced exerciser). It works well for most KB drills (the swings actually use your legs and core)but I substitute 10 lb. hand weight for some upper body work or when tired. Hope this helps! - posted by peggy on 4/17/2012

All of Paul Katami's kettlebell workouts are great...I can def see a difference after just 2 weeks....both the combo video and the drill video are awesome...and easy to follow..Highly recommend it. - posted by Kelly on 3/15/2012
My first " Paul Katami" Workout"(Great)
I love this workout. Paul is great instructor. I am using the same kettle bell that came with my firm workout. However, I am having a little trouble placing the kettle bell in the right position. Sometimes it hurt the knuckles of my hand. I needed a break to try something new and different, and this workout is just what I needed. I was so impressed, that I ordered the boot camp workout which I have just received. I plan to order more Paul Katami workouts. - posted by Nancy on 2/15/2012
Wow! Great Workout!
Paul Katami's Kettlebell workout is great! I am an intermediate exerciser who was looking to perk up some stale routines. I had done a few Kbell exercises and they felt 'right' and I wanted a compound movement exercise. Wow! I could really feel it in my obliques and butt. Great! Paul does a super job of introducing all the moves and demos them for you. I like the low impact aspect of the DVD! I suggest if you have never done kbells to do the clinic thru a few times. It is a nice workout on it's own. Paul's style is not harsh; it's like he's guiding you and urging you to do you best. He never is loud and commanding. The drills have you using all your muscle groups and it is a great cardio too. This is an excellent DVD and you can always up the weight. the clinic was 'just right' at a low weight the first time; it did not seem overwhelming and after I knew that I had a good workout. The DVD is a great change of pace. - posted by Dale on 2/9/2012

Reading a Time Graph
X
Each workout shows a time graph of the workout sequence, from beginning to end. For example, this workout starts with a 10-minute warm-up and ends with a 10-minute stretch. In between, you'll do aerobics, then toning, then a cooldown.

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.

Wide screen
X
The program fully fills a wide-screen television screen. Note: These videos will display black bars at the top and bottom on a traditional 4 x 3 ratio TV screen.
Level
X
Beginner: Just starting out, very overweight or haven't exercised in over six months.

Intermediate: Active in sports, dance or any regular exercise (2 to 3 times per week).

Advanced: Very active in sports or consistently work out four or more times per week.

Aerobics impact
X
Lower Impact: Both feet never leave the ground at the same time. This minimizes stress on your knees.

Higher Impact: Includes movements like jumps, hops and skips. Very high-impact is called plyometrics.

Mixed Impact: This alternates or combines the above styles.

Aerobics choreography
X
Basic: The easiest to follow. It ranges from simple walking-style marches to sports and athletic movements.

Complex: More intricate combinations and patterns. They're ideal for people who like to dance.

Moderate: More interesting than Basic, less dancy than Complex.

Toning emphasis
X
Upper body: Arms, chest and back.

Lower Body: Legs, thighs, hips and buttocks.

Abs: Abdominals (stomach), core and sometimes lower back.

Total body: Tones all three of the above muscle groups.

Floor aerobics & toning
X
Definition: Includes two workout activities. The aerobics segments are fast-paced standing movements like marching, dancing and jumping. These segments require no equipment. The toning sections are slow, controlled movements working against a resistance. These may include Pilates and weight training.

Benefits: The combination of both activities provides a balanced workout. The aerobics burns calories, strengthens your heart and increases stamina. The toning builds lean muscles, increases your metabolism and makes everyday activities easier.
