Certified instructor description: Back-to-basics aerobics followed by an effective series of non-floorwork toning. You’ll always see exactly the right level for you because every exercise is shown at three intensities (e.g. a calf raise on one leg or two; a squat holding the back of a chair or not). The cardio features simple combos — familiar, fun moves like kicks, knee lifts, jazz squares and step-touches (often with complementary arm motions). The toning — seated and standing — focuses on building the muscles used in everyday activities. It includes a wide variety of proven classics. Sue Grant, a friendly, low-key instructor, focuses on safety and proper form. Swing music with a modern feel. Requires 1 to 3 lb. dumbbells. ©2008. DVD has: Chapter menus, Wide screen.

Older & Wiser Workout

Older & Wiser Workout
Honestly I didn't like this VIDEO. It was a little bit boring: boring music, boring movement and too much talks. I want return this video. - posted by L.K. on 5/10/2012

Older and Wiser Workout
I don't know what headline you are asking for but the workout is a good one for me at this stage of my life. I do find it a little confusing as to which side she is asking to follow--whether her right or my right since it is a mirror image and she never says right or left only this side. - posted by Jeanne on 4/14/2012
Great workout for Beginners
I am 60 years old in good shape but I do not like high impact aerobic exercise or dance routines too complicated to follow. This workout is perfect at the end of a busy work day. The cueing is excellent and the pace is gentle. I like that she incorporates a lot of arm movement with the footwork, I can increase the arm movements to increase the aerobic intensity and it loosens up my shoulders after working at a computer all day. Very nice workout! - posted by Jane on 1/29/2012
Enjoyed Older & Wiser Workout
I don't like to think of myself being older but my body tells me otherwise at times. This is a great workout and it takes you through enough of a workout that helps the entire body. There is no floor work and that is good for me. I definitely recommend this dvd. - posted by Cecilia on 8/18/2011
Older & Wiser Workout
I am not loving this workout...I like a much more upbeat music to exercise to...and it seems as if it is not smooth...I get confused on putting the exercises all together. However, I am not going to give up...I will keep trying to like it. - posted by Deborah on 7/1/2011
Good Workout for Active Older Adults
This is the best workout for active older adults that I have bought. The workout doesn't require being on the floor; I hate being on the floor. The instructor has a sweet voice and explains every step well. There could be less distraction for me if only one person, and not three, is shown on the screen. And I could like it even better if the instructor talks a little less and the workout is about ten minutes longer. - posted by Maria on 4/21/2011
Video disappoints
This video is almost too easy and is rather boring, at least for anyone who has the "Older and Much Wiser" video. The first video might be good for an older person who hasn't exercised in a while, but other than that I'd say go straight to the "Older and Much Wiser" video. - posted by Diane on 3/31/2011
Older and Wiser Workout Really Works for Seniors
I have purchased several Workout DVD's for senior adults. Most are to easy, to hard or very boring. This workout has three levels of conditioning that work for even the seniors who need to use a chair to assist them. I have used it at our senior exercise class and several of the seniors have ordered the DVD. It works and is fun. Rate this DVD a 10 or 5 star. Very Good! - posted by Bill on 2/17/2011

Reading a Time Graph
X
Each workout shows a time graph of the workout sequence, from beginning to end. For example, this workout starts with a 10-minute warm-up and ends with a 10-minute stretch. In between, you'll do aerobics, then toning, then a cooldown.

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.

Chapter menus
X
You can play only the individual workout segments you want by picking them off a chapter menu (one at a time).
Wide screen
X
The program fully fills a wide-screen television screen. Note: These videos will display black bars at the top and bottom on a traditional 4 x 3 ratio TV screen.
Level
X
Beginner: Just starting out, very overweight or haven't exercised in over six months.

Intermediate: Active in sports, dance or any regular exercise (2 to 3 times per week).

Advanced: Very active in sports or consistently work out four or more times per week.

Aerobics impact
X
Lower Impact: Both feet never leave the ground at the same time. This minimizes stress on your knees.

Higher Impact: Includes movements like jumps, hops and skips. Very high-impact is called plyometrics.

Mixed Impact: This alternates or combines the above styles.

Aerobics choreography
X
Basic: The easiest to follow. It ranges from simple walking-style marches to sports and athletic movements.

Complex: More intricate combinations and patterns. They're ideal for people who like to dance.

Moderate: More interesting than Basic, less dancy than Complex.

Toning emphasis
X
Upper body: Arms, chest and back.

Lower Body: Legs, thighs, hips and buttocks.

Abs: Abdominals (stomach), core and sometimes lower back.

Total body: Tones all three of the above muscle groups.

Specialty: Seniors
X
Workouts especially designed for older exercisers (e.g. featuring seniors participants or older music styles). They may include all three basic exercise types: aerobics, toning and stretch.
