Certified instructor description: An immense variety of techniques in two non-stop aero/tone interval workouts. These multi-muscle, multi-plane exercises are sure to keep you totally challenged. Each program includes two toning intervals, a cardio interval and an abs interval (e.g. toning, cardio, toning, abs). The first toning segment uses heavier weights, the second features lighter weights. That's followed by a tough sequence of exceptionally varied abdominal moves. The cardio intervals feature fast-paced segments of progressively-more-intense moves. They often include higher-impact exercises like jacks, donkey kicks and "star jumps." Mike's cuing is clear but relentless ("keep going, no resting here!"). DVD has an on-screen countdown timer for each series. Requires two sets of dumbbells (e.g. 5 and 10 lb.). ©2011. DVD has: Wide screen.

Mike Donavanik's Extreme Burn

love it!
this was my first mike donavanik dvd and i have no regrets buying it. the workouts themselves are fantastic--a great sweat in a compact amount of time. his cueing is perfect--not long drawn out demos, but right to the point. i will definitely purchase another of his dvd's. - posted by jodi on 5/18/2012
Great!
Somehow the time flies! I am really looking forward to new videos by Mike - he cues well, is very motivating and the moves are just different enough to make it interesting. - posted by EAFN on 5/18/2012
WOW that was GOOD
So I did workout 1 this morning and it was tough. It really works you. I was trying to catch my breath for most of it and felt relieved when finally the ab section came around so I could catch my breath a little. Can't wait to do workout 2. This is definitely a keeper. - posted by Tricia on 5/2/2012
Great Workout
I know this says advanced, but I find it a great workout for intermediate people. I haven't worked out in months and needed a kick start and this is it. - posted by YA on 4/27/2012
plateua breaker
I have worked out for 15 years and love to try new and challenging workouts. Its been a long while since I have found a challenging one, but this one was extremely well cued, and utilized athletic and plyometric style series that I love. This video is not your cut and dry square type workout that will bore you. Very motivating instructor that kept me going even when I felt I could not finish. The best part, you are so in to the workout, you don't realize you have worked out for over an hour! All around five star workout. I even let my guy friends use it! - posted by shelia mcgaha on 4/20/2012
not impressed
I returned this video for a few reasons. I am motivated by music and you can barely hear it in the video. It felt more like working out with a personal trainer. Some people like that, but it wasn't for me. I did not find the format of his workout as challenging--he does all weights together, then all cardio, not back and forth between the two. I also felt some of his moves with weights were asking for injury. - posted by Julie on 4/19/2012
Extreme burn is right!
Good morning! What a surprise this was....I love this workout...the extreme one that combines the two. Goodness, it certainly is a challenge and the moves are fun and really creative. I hope to see more from Mike! - posted by Gina on 4/15/2012
Omg!!! Perfect workout
This is an outstanding advanced workout, mixing strength and cardio. You will definitely feel the burn in all your muscles!!!! I love it!!!!! - posted by Hana on 3/24/2012
You Will Loose Weight and Get Really Cut Up
New instructor on the block really delivers. Mike really pushes you through these workouts. They are compound exercises that will make you sweat and work every muscle in your body. The workout is fun and before you know it 40 minutes have gone by and the workout is over. Mike does not sugar coat anything. But the compound exercises are kinda fun so that pushes you to complete the workout. I can't use the heavy weights like he wants in most of the exercises but other than that I have lost those extra 5 lbs and my body is getting ripped. I can't wait for another dvd from this guy. He really is intelligent and professional. - posted by Holly on 3/17/2012
Great Workout
Easy to follow but a tough workout. I definitely feel like I worked out after completing. Even though it is tough it is over before you know it. - posted by Judy on 3/8/2012

Reading a Time Graph
X
Each workout shows a time graph of the workout sequence, from beginning to end. For example, this workout starts with a 10-minute warm-up and ends with a 10-minute stretch. In between, you'll do aerobics, then toning, then a cooldown.

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.

Wide screen
X
The program fully fills a wide-screen television screen. Note: These videos will display black bars at the top and bottom on a traditional 4 x 3 ratio TV screen.
Level
X
Beginner: Just starting out, very overweight or haven't exercised in over six months.

Intermediate: Active in sports, dance or any regular exercise (2 to 3 times per week).

Advanced: Very active in sports or consistently work out four or more times per week.

Aerobics impact
X
Lower Impact: Both feet never leave the ground at the same time. This minimizes stress on your knees.

Higher Impact: Includes movements like jumps, hops and skips. Very high-impact is called plyometrics.

Mixed Impact: This alternates or combines the above styles.

Aerobics choreography
X
Basic: The easiest to follow. It ranges from simple walking-style marches to sports and athletic movements.

Complex: More intricate combinations and patterns. They're ideal for people who like to dance.

Moderate: More interesting than Basic, less dancy than Complex.

Toning emphasis
X
Upper body: Arms, chest and back.

Lower Body: Legs, thighs, hips and buttocks.

Abs: Abdominals (stomach), core and sometimes lower back.

Total body: Tones all three of the above muscle groups.

Floor aerobics & toning
X
Definition: Includes two workout activities. The aerobics segments are fast-paced standing movements like marching, dancing and jumping. These segments require no equipment. The toning sections are slow, controlled movements working against a resistance. These may include Pilates and weight training.

Benefits: The combination of both activities provides a balanced workout. The aerobics burns calories, strengthens your heart and increases stamina. The toning builds lean muscles, increases your metabolism and makes everyday activities easier.
