Certified instructor description: An indoor, walking-style fat-burner that builds in intensity. You can start with the first segment and gradually work your way to a higher fitness level (each of the four “miles” gets faster and more challenging). As always, Leslie’s enthusiasm is inspiring and her choreography is easy to follow. The first two segments are classic Walk Aerobics — just four basic moves: marches, kicks, side-steps and step-touches. The third mile speeds it up with gentle jogging and simple grapevines. The final segment uses an optional resistance band to tone your upper body as it boosts the cardio effectiveness. Includes some recognizable vocal hit songs (e.g. “Everybody Dance Now”). A 5-foot resistance band is optional. ©2007. DVD has: Chapter menus, Close captions.

Leslie Sansone's Fast & Firm: 4 Really Big Miles

Walking with Leslie Sansone...
Got introduced to Leslie past winter at a RV park in FL, liked it and sure helps keep this 75 yr old body going. Bought two CD's and try to do 2/3 miles daily... would rate the two CD's I have 4 stars ! - posted by Kathleen on 5/3/2012
Walk Slip Fast & Firm 4 really big miles
I have quite a few of Leslie's dvds. This one really makes you work fast. I love it. She is so energetic and bubbly the time just flies...I enjoy combining the walking with the bands so you really feel like you've gotten a total workout for the day. - posted by Diane on 4/27/2012
Love It!
I purchased my first Leslie Sansone video about a year ago and have added several since then, but this one is by far my favorite....I normally only do a walking routine once a week, but I find myself doing this one two to three times weekly. It's fun, fast and effective....I'm seating like a pig by the time I'm through and I've actually had a pretty good time....as good as you can while working out...He moves are typical Leslie, but for some reason I'm not bored. I recommend it wholeheartedly.... - posted by Joanna on 4/27/2012
Great aerobic and toning workout
I have been using Leslie Sansone's videos for about 16 years. I love the sequence of the 15, 12, 10 min miles on this dvd , which ends with the last mile using stretchy bands. The band really tones your arms and core and after just a couple of weeks have noticed a difference in my upper arms and abs. I have always exercised and am happy this tape is intermediate. I was looking for a more advanced video by Leslie Sansone and am very happy with my purchase. I hope she produces more intermediate dvds. - posted by Fiona on 4/27/2012
Amazing workout
Leslie has quickly become one of my favorite workout mavens. She really delivers on this one. The workout goes fast and is fun. I liked the last mile too which was slower but had some great rubber band exercises. Another big winner!! - posted by Tipi on 4/21/2012
Worth it!
Am almost 60 and not in the least athletic, have sleep disorders and fall asleep in an instant, plus battle depression. Being a couch potato is too ambitious for me. I actually have not done the entire program. But find this peaks my interest and I can work at my own pace even in my nightgown. It's easy to count time and have worked my way to 36 min (> 2 miles), 3 to 6 days a week without pain or boredom and even managed to loose a few pounds too. Have no doubt I'll reach 4 miles with Leslie's "walk, walk, walk." - posted by Mary on 4/20/2012
Awesome
After reading the reviews, I decided to purchase this DVD. It was well worth. Get ready to burn some calories. You won't be disappointed. - posted by lady cook on 4/18/2012
enjoy this workout
I really like doing this workout on the days that I have an hour to devote to exercise. Love the 3rd mile pace. I have even added that as an extra step for some of the other dvd's that I do. Mile 4 is a little bit of a yawn after the stretch band segment. Overall, I like this workout. - posted by Debbie on 4/12/2012
Perfect!
I love this one most out of the three Leslie Sansone's I have. The short bursts of jogging are great. It moves along so cheerfully and with such bounce that the time seems to go more quickly and enjoyably than with the other videos. Great Job!!! - posted by Lynn on 3/29/2012
Best Ever
I have 15 of Leslie's DVD's and there isn't a bad one in the bunch, but this one is my absolute favorite. I especially love the music. The length of this workout is perfect and I work up a good sweat. Leslie is fun and motivating and I thank her for changing my life!!! - posted by ANNIE on 3/13/2012

Reading a Time Graph
X
Each workout shows a time graph of the workout sequence, from beginning to end. For example, this workout starts with a 10-minute warm-up and ends with a 10-minute stretch. In between, you'll do aerobics, then toning, then a cooldown.

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.

Chapter menus
X
You can play only the individual workout segments you want by picking them off a chapter menu (one at a time).
Level
X
Beginner: Just starting out, very overweight or haven't exercised in over six months.

Intermediate: Active in sports, dance or any regular exercise (2 to 3 times per week).

Advanced: Very active in sports or consistently work out four or more times per week.

Aerobics impact
X
Lower Impact: Both feet never leave the ground at the same time. This minimizes stress on your knees.

Higher Impact: Includes movements like jumps, hops and skips. Very high-impact is called plyometrics.

Mixed Impact: This alternates or combines the above styles.

Aerobics choreography
X
Basic: The easiest to follow. It ranges from simple walking-style marches to sports and athletic movements.

Complex: More intricate combinations and patterns. They're ideal for people who like to dance.

Moderate: More interesting than Basic, less dancy than Complex.

Toning emphasis
X
Upper body: Arms, chest and back.

Lower Body: Legs, thighs, hips and buttocks.

Abs: Abdominals (stomach), core and sometimes lower back.

Total body: Tones all three of the above muscle groups.

Floor aerobics & toning
X
Definition: Includes two workout activities. The aerobics segments are fast-paced standing movements like marching, dancing and jumping. These segments require no equipment. The toning sections are slow, controlled movements working against a resistance. These may include Pilates and weight training.

Benefits: The combination of both activities provides a balanced workout. The aerobics burns calories, strengthens your heart and increases stamina. The toning builds lean muscles, increases your metabolism and makes everyday activities easier.
