Certified instructor description: Anyone can do these indoor-walking moves — five fast-paced “miles” using no equipment (no “boosters”). It’s back to Leslie’s original fat-burning formula: a super-friendly instructor showing just four basic steps (marches, knee lifts, side steps and kicks). You can choose just one “mile” for your easier/time-crunched days or select all five for a calorie-blasting mega-workout. All the segments include optional arm motions and end with faster two-minute jogging sequences (also optional). But each mile is different — Leslie keeps you motivated by varying the exercisers, music, commentary and sequencing. On-screen timer. ©2008. DVD has: Chapter menus.

Leslie Sansone's 5 Mile Fat Burning Walk

Great for winter indoor workouts!
Here in MN, I dislike going outside in the very cold weather, which can last quite far into "spring." So I'm delighted with Leslie's workout video, which I can do in the comfort of my own living room. I love that I can choose just one mile, or up to five in one workout. I also love that I can tailor the intensity to what works for me...from calm and easy-on-the-joints to energetic and quite-a-workout. (I'm 55, and have exercised since I was a teenager. I like a "clean" workout, with fun and energy but no questionable words or attitudes. ;-)) - posted by Sharon on 4/9/2012
5 Mile Walk
The steps aren't too difficult yet you get a really good workout. I really like the way Leslie Sansone keeps you inspired by letting you know when you are halfway through each mile and she gives you fat burning tips along the way as well. I hope to purchase another exercise CD one soon. To me, its a bit harder than it initially looks though. - posted by Christine on 3/16/2012
Boring
Each mile is almost a repeat of the previous. Find some new moves! Definitely a beginner workout. - posted by Cheryl on 3/15/2012
Love this workout!!
I love Leslie's workouts, and I think this one is my favorite - love that there are five different walks with a slight break in between - just enough time to have some water. And I love the boosted walks at the end of each mile, really makes my legs fatigue. I love that I can really feel the workout when I am done! - posted by Laurie on 3/11/2012
Tough but good
This is a tough workout. I had to abandon the bands by the second session working with them. I need to grow into this one. But I really like & look forward to the time when I can work through the whole workout. - posted by Janet on 3/1/2012
i'm returning it
i don't believe it burns the same calories as your walking 5 miles. neither do i like the instructor, esp. her laughter, just plain annoying. - posted by helen on 3/1/2012
Love Leslie
I love this workout. The music is great, the instructor motivates you to keep going and I feel great at the end. - posted by Lisa on 2/22/2012
Wonderful workout!
I was thrilled when I built up the stamina to finish this long walk with Leslie. A nice challenge for her fans who appreciate simple moves and gentle encouragement. Highly recommended! - posted by Tanya on 2/22/2012
A nice challenge!
Have been a walking fan for years! Enjoyed the mix of old and new moves. Can do 1-5 miles in any order you like so you can change it up. Can be challenging if doing all 5 miles--found myself out of breath! - posted by Rita on 2/12/2012
Repeat, repeat, repeat
Each mile is basically a repeat of each other. There is no increase in pace or strength ability. In addition, there is almost no diversity of exercises from one mile to another. It is as though the first mile was replayed four times. Disappointing. - posted by Gail on 1/26/2012

Reading a Time Graph
X
Each workout shows a time graph of the workout sequence, from beginning to end. For example, this workout starts with a 10-minute warm-up and ends with a 10-minute stretch. In between, you'll do aerobics, then toning, then a cooldown.

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.
