Certified instructor description: A blend of two cardio styles: athletic kickboxing and traditional step. It’s a natural, powerful fusion — Kelly Coffey-Meyer simply integrates the step into classic kickbox combos (e.g. squats combined with “bob and weaves”, punches combined with “over the tops”). It’s a fast-paced fat-burner. Kelly just “cues as she goes” — never slowing down to demo a sequence (but you can learn them ahead of time in the 11-minute tutorial). There is a lot of variety with dozens of different moves in both sideways and toward-the-TV step positions (plus each combo finishes with a 60-second burst). The workout ends with floor kickboxing and oblique-focused abwork (on one knee, kneeling on a mat). Club-style music. ©2007. DVD has: 3 premixes (13 to 40-min. alternate workouts).

Kelly Coffey's Cardio Kick Step-Boxing

It is a great work out!
I love this workout alot. It makes the whole body move and you sweat alot. The choreography is great I needed to practice a lot of time before I could get the routine down. It is very athletic and you need a lot of energy to keep up with Kelly. This is one of my favorite kickboxing step workout video that I like the most. - posted by yanina on 6/23/2011
Kicks butt
i loved the DVD however its for the more advanced stepper the kickboxing and stepping keeps your heart rate up and the sweat pouring i loved that the DVD is in two parts and while i learned most of the steps i still have ways to go. It's challenging fun and kick butt. - posted by Monique on 4/28/2011
I'm sure I will catch on
Tried doing the dvd without checking the how to first. Found some steps a bit confusing, but I am sure I will catch on. - posted by Anne on 3/3/2011
Great Concept - Requires Patience!
Even with the tutorial, this was an extremely hard program to follow. It is so fast paced, you may find yourself improvising or avoiding the step altogether. It's an inventive concept to incorporate kickboxing with a step, but you do need to be rather coordinated. With that said, it does give you a great cardio workout...you WILL SWEAT! The abs workout was a bit repetitive, but I did feel it the next day. All in all, a good, thorough full body workout, but requires patience to get all the moves down. - posted by Dori on 2/22/2011
this is great!
I really got into this video. Takes a few times to get the pattern but motivating and goes so quickly! Can't wait to do it again. This will definitely be for days that I feel blah because I feel so good after! - posted by tammy on 2/22/2011
Cardio Toning The Entire Body
What I love about Kickboxing is, it is full whole body workout. It's quite confusing during the first few days because Kelly is so fast, but you see, the fun challenge in working out using exercise videos, comes in when you are confuse. You look forward doing it each day until you master the moves, so you can start exerting effort on each moves. This kickboxing is full whole body workout. - posted by Ester on 2/10/2011
love it !!!
Love this video. the choreography is tricky and you need to watch it a couple of time to get the hang of it. but regardless i love this video - posted by Dee on 1/27/2011
This will add a PUNCH to your workout!
I love kickboxing! Adding the step and this fun choreography takes kickboxing to a new level. You will never get bored with all the various ways to work out on this dvd! - posted by Stacey on 12/9/2010
Disappointed
I love my Kelly Coffee Circuit Burn workout, but this one was returned. The routine requires more space than I have available and it wasn't challenging enough. I love stepping and kickboxing, so the idea of mixing them excited me. I would like to see this style come out with a more athletic routine. - posted by Julie on 12/2/2010
I had trouble too
I tried this workout a couple of years ago and gave up pretty quickly. It was just too confusing I thought. Like other reviewers I'm also an experienced long-time exerciser but couldn't get this one. I gave it another try recently and really put my mind to it and have to say this is one of the most advanced cardio workouts I've done (from Cathe to Bento to Mylrea and more). After about 40 minutes into it I was surprised how winded I was (I used an 8 inch step and weighted gloves). One reviewer said her heart rate never got elevated. I would think this is the case when you have to slow down to learn it, but after that it's definitely intense. It gets better with each combo. If you're bored with your cardio routine this one will spice it up. Kelly is great! - posted by holly on 9/29/2010

Reading a Time Graph
X
Each workout shows a time graph of the workout sequence, from beginning to end. For example, this workout starts with a 10-minute warm-up and ends with a 10-minute stretch. In between, you'll do aerobics, then toning, then a cooldown.

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.

Premixes
X
These are alternate workouts created by the manufacturer. They use the same content as the main program (i.e. the very same video footage). But the sections are re-edited into pre-made alternative workouts that you select from a menu. These are often condensed versions of the main workout.
Level
X
Beginner: Just starting out, very overweight or haven't exercised in over six months.

Intermediate: Active in sports, dance or any regular exercise (2 to 3 times per week).

Advanced: Very active in sports or consistently work out four or more times per week.

Aerobics impact
X
Lower Impact: Both feet never leave the ground at the same time. This minimizes stress on your knees.

Higher Impact: Includes movements like jumps, hops and skips. Very high-impact is called plyometrics.

Mixed Impact: This alternates or combines the above styles.

Aerobics choreography
X
Basic: The easiest to follow. It ranges from simple walking-style marches to sports and athletic movements.

Complex: More intricate combinations and patterns. They're ideal for people who like to dance.

Moderate: More interesting than Basic, less dancy than Complex.

Toning emphasis
X
Upper body: Arms, chest and back.

Lower Body: Legs, thighs, hips and buttocks.

Abs: Abdominals (stomach), core and sometimes lower back.

Total body: Tones all three of the above muscle groups.

Step aerobics & toning
X
Definition: Includes two workout activities. The step aerobics segments involve stepping up and down on a platform. The moves range from simple stepping to more choreographed exercises. These segments require a step bench platform. The toning sections are slow, controlled movements working against resistance. These may include Pilates and weight training.

Benefits: The combination of both activities provides a balanced workout. The aerobics burns calories, strengthens your heart and increases stamina. The toning builds lean muscles, increases your metabolism and makes everyday activities easier.
