Certified instructor description: A well-cued, well-designed program that intermixes traditional and innovative toning routines. They all use a stability ball to add intensity or improve your body position. You get a balanced blend of six body-part-targeted segments, each one featuring body-part-specific sculpting techniques (e.g. lying on the floor while using heavy dumbbells to work your chest, sitting on the ball using lighter dumbbells to tone your arms). Karen is a superb instructor — her style is graceful, her attitude relaxed, her form flawless. Requires a stability ball and two sets of dumbbells (e.g. 3 lb. and 10 lb.). ©2006. DVD has: Chapter menus.

Karen Voight's Slim Toning on a Ball

not bad, but she has better
First off, I love Karen Voight and do mostly only her videos. I picked this up because I am looking for short efficient exercise videos. As always, her cueing is excellent and she is a reasonable, calming personality with which to exercise (I exercise early in the AM and don't care for the "overly bubbly" instructors). I am in my 40s and getting back into exercise and even I found this video to not be strenuous enough. I felt that there weren't enough lower extremity exercises and when I was done I didn't feel that I exercised enough. I think it would be a nice add on to another video for a longer exercise routine. I don't expect it to have a regular spot in my rotation of videos. - posted by Julia on 1/13/2012
I Like It!
I purchased this video about a year ago but have not been able to use (kids lost the remote) I finally replaced the remote and am in love with this one. I am just getting back into my exercise routine and this was challenging enough to keep me motivated but not too challenging to make me super sore and discouraged. It is just perfect for my needs. - posted by Mary Lynn on 1/1/2012
One of my favorite little gems
This workout hits the body well in 30 minutes. I will say it's a bit light on the lower body so I often tack on some pilates that targets that area if I want a complete workout. However, your upper body and core are really targeted here. I love working on the stability ball because I hit so many areas at once, making the workout time efficient. Karen has great cues and clear instructions. - posted by Elaine on 9/5/2011
Slim Toning on the Ball
This workout is a little more advanced for balance and toning exercises but the extra effort is worth it! Exceptional workout for the ABS! Don't let the warm up fool you into thinking this is going to be slow. I am a 53YO woman and after two sessions of getting familiar with the routine, I do this once or twice a week along with some cardio. Great video and just long enough to work into early mornings. - posted by Sheryl Bradley on 4/15/2011
On the Ball
I was looking for a way to ease back into working out on a stability ball, and this provided what I was looking for. It is easy to follow, and I definitely felt it the next day in my chest and abs. - posted by Denise on 1/14/2011
Outstanding
I have had the pleasure to meet K.V. Years Ago in LA at her studio. I would recommend any of her videos. She keeps me inspired through out the years and is in my opinion the Best instructor I have Ever Met. Her workouts are easy to follow and her attention to detail is displayed in every move. Great Toning Workout!
I love this workout for many reasons. 1. It is instructed by Karen Voight, 2. It is pure toning, and 3. It is about a half an hour in length. I am a beginning to exercise again after recently having a baby. I used her Burn and Firm and her BLT workouts before hand and I needed some workouts led by my favorite instructor to get me back into shape. I also just wanted an all toning workout that I can do that still pushes me and that is not too long. A workout that is about 30 minutes is also a bonus because my time is now very limited. And I know that I would not exercise if I couldn't find a workout DVD that was way too long. So you see this workout is perfect for me. I would highly recommend this workout to anyone who is new to exercise or people who are getting back into exercise. But it is also good for people who have been working out for a long time. It is good for anyone in my opinion. I use this workout 3x per week and I use Karen's Quick & Slim Cardio that is also under 30 minutes 3x per week for my cardio. I am so happy I found myself 2 new workouts that I have and that I am seeing results! - posted by Emily on 4/9/2010
Why did I not use this before?
I bought this a couple of years ago, but never did the workout. I was looking for something quick, and different recently, so I opened this dvd. Wow, I loved it! I have always enjoyed Karen's cueing, and inspiration. This is a nice, flowing workout. I simply enjoyed it, and it will be a regular in my rotation. - posted by Eileen on 1/11/2010
Underrated little gem
I love this workout for those days I don't have a lot of time but want a great workout. Using the stability ball increases the challenge to your core and you get the advantage of working multiple muscle groups at once if you pay attention to Karen's cues and good form. Really nice workout. - posted by Elaine on 12/6/2008
Disappointing
I have several Karen Voight videos and several other videos using the ball. I've never been so disappointed in a video. First of all, "total body ball workout" is not really accurate. It's more of an upper body video with some abs thrown in. Very little leg work. The exercises are simple, not at all challenging, and for the most part can be done without the ball. Karen's instructions are easy to follow. However, I had to follow this workout with a real video. Sadly, it will not be a video I reach for again. - posted by Kelsey on 10/21/2008

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.
