Certified instructor description: Two aero/tone interval workouts that combine weight-training with high-intensity cardio ... plus some martial arts and yoga. It's a smooth-flowing fusion that increases motivation while challenging your body in diverse ways. The first workout emphasizes fat-burning cardio; it features traditional body-sculpting routines. The second program is more toning-focused; it includes lots of multi-muscle and yoga-based exercises (e.g. a dumbbell-intensified triangle pose). Both workouts are tough — fast-paced, non-stop circuits that never slow down (however they do show some easier modifications). Jillian's cuing is "bad ass" and aggressive, but always supportive (e.g. "you can do this; just dig deep and work it!"). Requires 3 to 10 dumbbells. ©2011. DVD has: Spanish option, Wide screen, Close captions, Region 1.

*JILLIAN ROCKS*
Yet another great video Thanks - posted by Jackie on 5/10/2012
thanks for trying
Well I like that she's tried to Change it up. Tho I have most of her dvds and I'm starting not to like how Jillian does almost nothing but tell u how bad ass she is. I liked her attitude in her earlier videos like boost and no trouble zones she was strong but not big headed. I hope she gets over how amazing she is and starts doing some of the workout with you. - posted by hannah on 5/5/2012
Another excellent DVD by Jillian
If you are athletic and need a challenge this is it. I like that it was 45 minutes long, I liked the variety, especially the different martial art moves. - posted by Mary on 4/27/2012
Great workout
OK I just finished the Level 2, and it is hard in a good way! The Level 1 was not too hard, not so much aerobic at all, more body weight training not really needing hand weights. Level 2 is Jillian tough with quite a few vicious plank moves. Both have an interesting mix of types of exercise, yoga holds, salutation, plyo. In level 2 she did Statue of Liberty and frog jumps, one leg mountain climbers. Lots of tough but really good feeling moves. My heart rate got up on a few moves, but I think it is also more toning than aerobics. Jillian says to do the 2 30 min workouts together for an Extreme Shed and Shred, but the second workout is around 40 min and add in the warm up and cool down 5 min each, that would be a long time. Plus level 2 will get you all by itself. - posted by Denise on 4/24/2012
Not the Jillian I am used to
These videos were strange; I didn't like the addition of martial arts and yoga moves. It's definitely not Advanced because too much time (and talk) elapses between moves. I got bored the first time I tried it. - posted by katherine on 4/23/2012
Another winner from Jillian
Jillian knows how to pack a great time saving, calorie burning program into 45 minutes or less. - posted by Constance on 4/19/2012
LOVED LOVED LOVED IT!
If you are athletic and need to be challenged, this one brings it! If opposite of that, you will hate it. - posted by athletic girl on 4/16/2012
Excellent - sweated bullets!
I loved this workout. It was challenging, yet doable and the time flew by. Kept my heart rate up the entire time even though I had to modify some of the moves. I have quite of few of Jillian's workouts, but this one was much easier on my joints, again I modified..but I still felt stronger and very worked out. I could feel the after burn in my core hours after I finished. I enjoyed the nice stretch and pep talk at the end as well, different from Jillian's other workouts. I'm a firm believer in the mind/body connection. This one delivered. Definitely keeping in my rotation. - posted by Dori on 4/13/2012
Not a cardio workout
I was very disappointed with this workout. I enjoy Jillian's other DVD's. However, this one did not get my heart rate up at all. There were some new interesting moves. However, as a trainer myself, I feel that some of the moves could be a bit hazardous to many exercisers. I returned this DVD. - posted by Marie on 4/12/2012
This DVD will change your body
No doubt Jillian's workouts are tough. But they are effective. This DVD in particular is definitely body changing. After only doing the entire program one time, I felt more taut and fit. While Jillian is VERY innovative, her moves are sometimes difficult, but that's what brings about results. This DVD is not for the faint of heart!! - posted by Sharon on 4/6/2012

Reading a Time Graph
X
Each workout shows a time graph of the workout sequence, from beginning to end. For example, this workout starts with a 10-minute warm-up and ends with a 10-minute stretch. In between, you'll do aerobics, then toning, then a cooldown.

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.

Spanish option
X
In addition to English, you can choose to hear the program in Spanish.
Wide screen
X
The program fully fills a wide-screen television screen. Note: These videos will display black bars at the top and bottom on a traditional 4 x 3 ratio TV screen.
Region 1
X
This DVD is designed for US and Canadian DVD players. It will NOT play in most foreign country players.
Level
X
Beginner: Just starting out, very overweight or haven't exercised in over six months.

Intermediate: Active in sports, dance or any regular exercise (2 to 3 times per week).

Advanced: Very active in sports or consistently work out four or more times per week.

Aerobics impact
X
Lower Impact: Both feet never leave the ground at the same time. This minimizes stress on your knees.

Higher Impact: Includes movements like jumps, hops and skips. Very high-impact is called plyometrics.

Mixed Impact: This alternates or combines the above styles.

Aerobics choreography
X
Basic: The easiest to follow. It ranges from simple walking-style marches to sports and athletic movements.

Complex: More intricate combinations and patterns. They're ideal for people who like to dance.

Moderate: More interesting than Basic, less dancy than Complex.

Toning emphasis
X
Upper body: Arms, chest and back.

Lower Body: Legs, thighs, hips and buttocks.

Abs: Abdominals (stomach), core and sometimes lower back.

Total body: Tones all three of the above muscle groups.

Floor aerobics & toning
X
Definition: Includes two workout activities. The aerobics segments are fast-paced standing movements like marching, dancing and jumping. These segments require no equipment. The toning sections are slow, controlled movements working against a resistance. These may include Pilates and weight training.

Benefits: The combination of both activities provides a balanced workout. The aerobics burns calories, strengthens your heart and increases stamina. The toning builds lean muscles, increases your metabolism and makes everyday activities easier.
