Certified instructor description: A high-energy Latin dance program led by Judi Sheppard Missett and Cheryl Burke (two-time "Dancing with the Stars" champion). Filmed "live," with an on-stage drummer, this is not your standard Jazzercise class. Instead, it feels like a night at the club, not a "workout." The two instructors teach alternating segments. Judi emphasizes classic Jazzercise favorites like chassés, ball changes and Latin hip walks. Cheryl complements Judi's often core-focused moves with wide-ranging, hip-driven patterns like shimmeys, cha chas, rhumbas and jive steps. She also maximizes the fun with lots of sexy rib pops, sultry arm motions and sensuous hip circles (taught add-on-style without breaking the rhythm — you'll need to focus). ©2011. DVD has: 2 premixes (12 & 20 min. alternate workouts), Wide screen.

Jazzercise: Latin Live

Latin fun fun fun!
I love this video! As a musician, I enjoy the matching of Jazzercise's movements to the music. This one is my favorite one. It's easy to forget I'm working. I find myself smiling through most of it, which is not my usual attitude toward exercise. - posted by Sue on 5/9/2012
Not great cardio
The dance steps in this DVD may be intermediate, but the cardio level isn't. I like to break a sweat during my cardio sessions, so I found myself doing jumping jacks and jogging around the room during the low paced sections (which most of them are). I also found some of the dance moves very challenging (too challenging to bother with, actually), which I didn't expect because I take Zumba classes twice a week. - posted by Tiffany on 5/4/2012
Fun and Different but Not for Beginners
I enjoyed this video and ended up really working up a sweat with it. The setting is unique and makes it feel like you are in a club dancing and not "working out." The moves and cuing are pretty fast but you could go at your own pace (I am a bit slower than Chery's "swivel hips" but I still move enough to sweat). I would say though that is not a good DVD to start learning Latin type dances with. I would choose something easier to start like the Dancing Off the Inches line of DVD's. Cheryl, although great, just doesn't break things down slowly enough for beginners in my opinion. - posted by Jean on 4/26/2012
Latin Live
I enjoyed using the Latin Live video. Very energizing. - posted by Nesta on 4/5/2012
Not Enough Enthusiasm
Cheryl Burke was o.k., but Judi Sheppard needs to let herself go. She was hardly moving at all and seemed rather stiff. I didn't feel the exercise did anything for me, so I sent it back. - posted by Audi on 3/12/2012
Jazzercise turns Latin
I have been doing jazzercise videos over the last few years. This one didn't disappoint me. I happen to like Judi Sheppard Misset. Making this exercise video with Chery Burke is a plus. I felt it worked the full core and felt like I did something. I am not a great dancer and had a few spots where I couldn't quite get the move but I have plenty of chances to perfect it. - posted by Lorraine on 2/23/2012
Liked this one
I am a total klutz when it comes to dance, but this tape is really fun. Even though I don't do the steps perfectly (what is the difference between samba and rumba anyway?), I work up a sweat and really feel I've done a workout. I'm addicted to Dancing With The Stars and it's fun to see Cheryl Burke on this tape. - posted by Heidi on 2/9/2012
latin live jazzercise dvd
I thought this was too complicated. I love all the other jazzercise dvds. Judi's parts were fun, but Cheryl's were way too complicated and made me not want to finish dvd. The music was fun and the guy playing drums was a neat element. I didn't feel like I got a good workout bc I was confused by the dance moves. - posted by sarah on 1/26/2012
Jazzercise/Latin live
Overall, I like the video. Although drums are an integral part of Latin dances, I would have appreciated some other music/songs to exercise to as well. I think Cheryl is really good; however, sometimes it is not clear as to when her routines will end. Finally, I would have liked an option included for a shorter, 30 minute routine. - posted by Laura on 1/5/2012
Cheryl is the best!
The DVD alternates between Cheryl and Judi. Judi is very annoying but Cheryl is so good that the DVD is worth it. There is a seperate 20 minute workout that is just Cheryl so it is perfect when you are short on time. I found that I can tune Judi out during her segments and just dance to the music until Cheryl comes back on. - posted by Ann-Marie on 1/5/2012

Reading a Time Graph
X
Each workout shows a time graph of the workout sequence, from beginning to end. For example, this workout starts with a 10-minute warm-up and ends with a 10-minute stretch. In between, you'll do aerobics, then toning, then a cooldown.

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.

Premixes
X
These are alternate workouts created by the manufacturer. They use the same content as the main program (i.e. the very same video footage). But the sections are re-edited into pre-made alternative workouts that you select from a menu. These are often condensed versions of the main workout.
Wide screen
X
The program fully fills a wide-screen television screen. Note: These videos will display black bars at the top and bottom on a traditional 4 x 3 ratio TV screen.
