Certified instructor description: A fluid series of punches, kicks and punch/kick combos led by a powerful and very intense instructor. The moves are uncomplicated but effective — you’re sure to burn mega-calories as you engage every muscle in your body. You get two different combos — the first has a “fitness kickbox” feel; the second has a martial arts/karate orientation. Each series follows the same easy-to-follow format. You’ll start with a sequence of varied punches, then a sequence of equally varied kicks (taught “add on” style). Finally, you’ll blend everything together into a super-fat-burning combo that’s repeated several times. Excellent cuing and superb form by all the exercisers (you can follow any one; they’re all perfect). ©2010. DVD has: Chapter menus, Wide screen.

Ilaria's PowerStrike Kickboxing 6

A keeper
I have over 75 workout DVDs, and this is the one I keep going back to. I learned how to kickbox with Ilaria Montagnani and love it. She is simply the best! Her personality shines through on Powerstrike 6 and the combos are super fun. While it does take a few times to learn the combos, I find that each time I do the workout I learn how to perform each move with better and better form. Ilaria's cuing is excellent, and she is having such a good time that it makes me not want to stop. - posted by lilshell on 4/14/2012
Good for strengthening, not really for cardio
I think this is a great DVD if you're looking to develop upper and lower body strength, but I really didn't get much of a cardio workout out of it. It takes a few viewings to really figure out the moves, but after that, it's pretty fun. - posted by Maerin on 3/11/2012
not so much intermediate
I like this video but my impression of intermediate must not be at par because I thought this video to be more advanced. I have done kickboxing classes at the gym for 6 years now and I am in good shape but I found this video hard at first to keep up with the fast past moves and changes. I do think this video is great for someone who is hard core and wants a non stop fast past challenge. I also do think she is very good to guide you and get you pumped up,I just wish she would have a mid way slower segment for you to recover and be able to give it your all throughout the entire video. So over all I like this video and I do recommend it to someone more advanced and in great shape, it does get easier after a few times but still find it to be more advanced then intermediate. - posted by Angela on 2/16/2012
Woo Hoo!!!!
I did PowerStrike 6 for the first time today, and all I can say is Woo Hoo!!!! It is even better then PowerStrike 5! Yes it is quite challenging and intense, and you just keep moving. I did work up an incredible sweat, but the routines are not too complicated or hard to get down. As usual, Ilaria's cueing is impecable & there is zero dread factor. I almost feel guilty enjoying a workout this much - almost :-D - posted by Tracey on 1/19/2012
My favorite workout video!
I have been using Powerstrike Kickboxing (and Ilaria's other videos) for a year now and LOVE them all, though this is my favorite. No time is wasted explaining moves, she just gets down to business and keeps you moving the entire time. I sweat like no other! Ilaria's background in many different athletic systems (ballet, kickboxing, etc) really adds to her workout. She is the best - great cuing, great combos, great demos, great motivation. - posted by janet on 1/17/2012
worked up a sweat
Great workout. I really felt my heart rate soar. My only concern is the repetitive nature of the punching segment. My neck and shoulders are popping and creaking from the repetition. I will use this DVD once a week to cross train. - posted by Sue on 10/8/2011
Good but like PS5 better
Ilaria is fantastic. I own most of her DVDs. I'm a longtime exerciser and very familiar with kickboxing. I think her cueing is perfect but if you've never kickboxed before maybe you shouldn't start here. There is something very calming about Ilaria. I normally don't like too much repetition but I don't mind it with her. Her workouts are easy to follow but challenging because of the repetition. Somehow the beat of the music along with the repeated movements relaxes your mind. It will make you sweat while keeping it low impact. This one is good, but I really love Powerstrike 5 and prefer it over this one. - posted by holly on 9/8/2011
Love this Workout
I have several kickboxing tapes, but this one is the bomb! Took me 4-5 tries to learn the moves, but it's worth it. It's in my weekly rotation. The music and fluidity are fantastic. I just wish it were longer. - posted by Agnes on 8/30/2011
Good workout but very hard to follow...
I thought it was a great workout, if you can follow her. I am not a kickboxing person but trying to get into it. I had a very hard time following her..maybe if I do it a few more times it will get easier. I was annoyed bcause I couldnt follow her, I felt that I wasnt getting a good workout. I wish her cueing was better. - posted by Danielle on 8/25/2011
Good video but frustrated by lack of cuing
As Ilaria puts together long combos and does head shots instead of body shots, it would be helpful to cue. I found myself rewinding this dvd several times during the first try of this because I couldn't get the combos down, and a lot of times I only saw the people's heads, not their bodies. Though I thought the workout was good, I'm not even sure I got the combos down after doing the video all the way through. - posted by Barbara on 7/20/2011

Reading a Time Graph
X
Each workout shows a time graph of the workout sequence, from beginning to end. For example, this workout starts with a 10-minute warm-up and ends with a 10-minute stretch. In between, you'll do aerobics, then toning, then a cooldown.

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.
