Certified instructor description: A well-structured, all-standing program that combines martial-arts kicks with lunges and squats. This three-technique blend is designed to target your lower body muscles in every possible dimension: The squats tighten the glutes. The lunges work deep into the hamstrings. The kicks totally challenge your hips and buttocks (note: all the exercises also have a core-engagement element). The moves are well-transitioned and very fast-paced (almost cardio speed). Each of the four separate combos is taught add-on style. They include varied moves with lots of repetition. Ilaria is a muscular, “serious” instructor, her cuing is clear and direct. ©2010. DVD has: Chapter menus, Wide screen.

Ilaria's Body Strikes 2

Kickbutt Workout
I'm a nurse practitioner and an exercise physiologist, and my exercise priorities are good health and good form, with the end result of feeling good after a workout; injury prevention is key. I'm a newfound afficianado of Ilaria, and now own all her available DVDs, which, despite their repetition, I find enjoyable, energizing, and extremely effective. I usually alternate her DVDs with other favorites by Ellen Barrett, Jennifer Galardi, Karen Voight and Petra Kolber. They're all excellent instructors, who emphasize good technique, which decreases the risk of injury. I like the rotation of dance, aerobics, martial arts, yoga and Pilates. Ilaria's athleticism is extraordinary, and the specificity of her direction is really helpful in completing her workouts with both finesse and good form. I highly recommend her to people who ask me for suggestions. - posted by Terry on 2/9/2012
WOW!
Get ready for a no nonsense great workout. Her personality is a little bland at first-but she knows her stuff!!!! Love it!!!! - posted by Amy on 11/22/2011
Great Video
Be ready to work your lower body. She will definitely get your legs in shape. There are a lot of lunges, squats and kicks. She is easy to follow and explains the moves well. The routine is fun. You will feel this one! - posted by Mary on 7/9/2011
Wow!
This is an intense workout! Legs, legs, legs. Fast paced combos with lots of reps. Ilaria is amazing. - posted by Sandra on 6/12/2011
Good focus strength and conditioning workout
This is my 3rd workout dvd by IIaria. She is fantastic! IIaria does a great job by giving proper introductions/instructions in the program. The program is intensive as you focus on working on one side of the body instead of alternating and you can always use heavier weights if you need an extra challenge. - posted by yeoster on 6/6/2011
Why all the raves?
I couldn't get my heart rate over 100 beats per minute... granted I'm an endurance athlete and can do 2-3 hour cardio workouts but Cathe and Paul Katami's DVDs get my HR up in 30 minutes, this just did nothing for me. - posted by Meghan on 5/29/2011
Not For Me (Yet)
This video is not for me. I think Llaria's tone and professionalism is stellar. She clearly knows what she's doing. I don't think it was so much her as it was me. The video is fast paced and has a lot of sequencing moves that I just couldn't keep up with. However, I did like the warm-up which had me sweating profusely. She does a good job explaining how to have your legs positioned and "open up your hips". I'm debating on returning it or seeing if I can reach the level to where I can keep up. If you're someone that can easily remember sequencing, like a dancer has to remember dance steps, you'll like this. It's a good workout, just a bit fast paced and a lot of quick, sequenced kicks. I'm giving this a rating of 3 only because it's so fast. - posted by Wendy on 5/19/2011
Ilaria strikes again!
If your workout space is the size of a walk-in closet and you have no equipment, Ilaria is for you. She's also for you if you have a gymnasium in your house and enough equipment to do every Cathe workout. Ilaria is for everyone! She's awesome - her workout sequences are carefully planned and flow seamlessly. I adore her! I do think the camera too often focuses on the upper body, when all all the action is lower body. No doubt as I do this workout a few times that won't be so much of an issue but it can be terribly frustrating when you're trying to learn the routines. - posted by Susan W. on 4/30/2011
WOW IS ALL I CAN SAY!
This video is very methodical and focused. Ilaria gives excellent instruction and her cuing is good. She is more concerned with your form versus how high and how strong you can kick, lunge, or whatever move you are doing at that time. I am overweight by more than 100 lbs and have been exercising for approximately 3 months now. I can't get through the entire video yet but I am sure with determination and diligence I will. I like Ilaria because she doesn't waste a lot of time talking in the introduction or throughout the video. She gets right to business. I am not a dancy type of girl or the most coordinated and sometimes I dislike all of the combinations that other instructors have on their workout videos. She is not "Miss Sunshine" as it relates to encouraging her viewers but she gets the job done. Overall, it's a good workout that is low impact cardio, builds endurance, and strengthens your lower body. - posted by Andrea on 4/25/2011
I liked it!
I did this workout for the first time today and I would consider it intermediate, not advanced. Like others have said, it is good and it doesn't kill you! That said, it did challenge my balance, my focus and my lower body. I can already feel some soreness and I workout 7 days/week and am in pretty good shape. My HR monitor said that I burned 302 calories and I was happy with that. I dislike dancy DVD's or anything that is hard to follow and this was not bad at all. It was fast-paced and I messed up a few times but it did not frustrate me like some DVD's do. - posted by Sharon on 4/10/2011

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.
