Certified instructor description: A mix of yoga, "burlesque" toning and traditional body-sculpting. The program's perfectly synced original music and uniquely artsy photography make it both mentally motivating and visually intriguing. The yoga segments are smooth-flowing classics like warrior and sun salutation. The burlesque segment uses a vertical body bar for sensuous pliés, hip-swings and inner thigh moves (sexy, but also genuinely effective). The ending floorwork features straight-forward toning exercises like ab crunches, side leg lifts and bridges (often with a pulse or position variation). Super-dramatic photography — everything from stylized workout images to scenes from Santa Monica beach. They use a body bar but a chair would also work. ©2011. DVD has: Wide screen.

Grace Lazenby's Rockin' Models Workout

Some good parts
Yes, what everyone says is true. There are some really cheesy parts to this video. The burlesque sequences were over the top. The stuff with the fedoras was ridiculous- am I really supposed to don a stripper hat in the middle of my workout? I refuse. The video also attempts to be artsy and visually different by interspersing clips of city scapes and the beach but this is sometimes during workout sequences when I need to have a very clear, unobstructed view of the instructor. Nevertheless, there were some good sequences too and the barre workout exhausted my legs. I had a Grace Lazenby step video years ago (I'm 43) that I really liked and it was good to see her again. I don't really get the point of the video title. Most of us have no plans to be a rocking model (whatever that is) as a result of workout out. - posted by Vanessa on 4/21/2012
Second Half of workout is the GEM
It's true, there are lots of negatives about this workout (what workout uses a top hat? and the cheesiness is very apparent at times), but at the same time, a lot of positives too. I didn't care much for the (too fast-moving) yoga segments or the standing burlesque segments and Grace does not always demonstrate proper form throughout. BUT...the gluteals, inner thigh, outer thigh, and core training segments are where this workout truly shines. Add ankle weights to really provide a maximum burn, but it does get into those lower body muscles and how! I always have DOMS the next day - using ankle weights or not. The music is superbly synched to the moves and the changing background images provide a FUN vibe throughout. I hoped the previous reviewers had the chance of trying the second half of the dvd instead of giving up on the dvd right from the start. I'm so glad I had and love using the floorwork as add-ons to my other workouts which, IMO, works the best and for that reason alone, is worth the 4 star rating. - posted by MRS on 4/11/2012
Loved the music..
I liked this dvd -- yes, the burlesque is a bit much, but come on people, lighten up! Its supposed to be fun. The music was great and adds a lot to the workout. Very high quality production -- lots of shots of southern california beaches and ocean waves. I am giving 4 stars because instruction could have been better (as pointed out in previous post), plus, would have liked more arm work. - posted by kosmo on 2/22/2012
What can I say.................
This video reminded me of a bunch of 80's Rock n Roll groupies getting together to train for the Stripper stage. I am sorry to be so blunt but, SERIOUSLY??? that is exactly what it looks like. The moves didn't flow well at all and I pretty much sat staring at the T.V. screen the entire time. I completely agree with every word the poster below me said about this video. It is beyond cheesy, the instruction is terrible, the Yoga moves way too fast and the hats? WOW!! Just not my style at all. I hope Grace doesn't have a sequel planned because that would be just cruel. SAVE YOUR MONEY!!! - posted by Judy on 2/21/2012
---Fail---
I really dislike being critical because I'm an instructor myself and I know it's impossible to please everyone, but since this is a review, I'm going to be honest. I am disappointed because I liked the concept of yoga mixed with tone, but it really missed the boat for a number of reasons. First of all, the yoga was sloppy a few times and the sequence didn't seem to flow well. Secondly, the cheese factor was high on the burlesque part. She used a bar and the 'sexy' factor just turned me off. I didn't like the sexy glares and use of top hat or boy hat in several songs. The instructor was annoying and really made me appreciate the GOOD instructors--Cathe, Jari, Michelle, Amy and Jackie-to name a few. I'm not sure if she teaches in "real" life or not, but she should touch up on instructor cues and verbal variety. One thing I did like was that the songs and artists were clearly displayed. Also, throughout the workout, there were clips of California and the ladies goofing around, and this just didn't inspire me. The whole dvd was not my style and I sent it back. The first time I've ever sent back a Collage workout. I gave it two stars because the set was good and she had some good glute work during one segment. - posted by Melissa on 2/15/2012
really bad instractor
the workout is okay, nothing special. the instructor is really bad. i noticed she was doing a few of the exercises with really bad form. - posted by jen on 2/3/2012
Reading a Time Graph
X
Each workout shows a time graph of the workout sequence, from beginning to end. For example, this workout starts with a 10-minute warm-up and ends with a 10-minute stretch. In between, you'll do aerobics, then toning, then a cooldown.

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.
