Certified instructor description: Four complete workout segments: abs/glutes, total-body, Latin dance and relaxation. The exercise variety, hi-tech set and Giselle’s enthusiasm are sure to keep you motivated. “Abs & Glutes” features proven standing and floor routines to target these classic “trouble spots.” “Body Toning” begins with dumbbell aero/tone moves to raise your heart rate, then slows down to isolate specific upper and lower-body muscle groups. “Cardio Dance” is fast-paced but also very easy to follow - six energetic Latin combos, from “salsa/funk” to “Flamenco/Tango.” Finally, it’s the begin/inter-level “Destress and Stretch” - graceful, soothing stretches on a candlelit stage with live grand piano music. Excellent production with superb photography. DVD has pre-programmed options (e.g. lower body plus the stretch). Requires 3 to 5 lb. dumbbells, a body bar and a stability ball. A medicine ball is optional. ©2005. DVD has: 5 premixes (17 to 35-min. alternate workouts), Chapter menus, Wide screen, Region 1.

Giselle's ABCDs for Total Body Fitness

Good one
It was fun and the time went by fast. I will do this workout again... - posted by Faina on 4/27/2012
Love the Toning Section
I really like all of this video except for the cardio - it's a little beyond my coordination capabilities. The toning section is one of my favorite all time exercise video selections. Her explanations are helpful and she's motivating. - posted by Jil on 1/19/2012
good workout
I owned this video for awhile now- 4 different routines- I enjoyed all of them- though my favorite which I put alot in my rotation is the body toning- it is a good all over toning, only thing that is lacking is a ab section in this section- though she has one for that. The body toning section will make you sweat- it is one of my absolute favorites- this is a good buy. - posted by donna on 8/26/2011
Complete Fun Workout
This is a complete workout with so much fun. You can break it down during your busy days or do it all for a total body workout.. Love it!! - posted by Ester on 6/9/2011
fun music, enjoyable instructor
so far, I've only done the cardio portion of the workout. This is a fun, relatively easy-paced cardiodance workout. After about the 3rd viewing, I caught on to most of the steps. I'm choreographically challenged, so I'd say her instruction and cuing are good. The music is a lot of fun. I've used this as light cardio addition to a strength-training day, and it leaves me with a smile. - posted by mira on 1/27/2011
What a cutie!
This girl is FUN! Love the work out and the music. Not that hard, but effective. Cueing is great and I feel rejuvenated after doing this workout. A wonderful addition to any collection. - posted by Missy on 10/18/2010
Fantastic!
This workout is just fantastic! I couldn't believe how much fun this was and yet challenging at the same time. I normally do athletic style, high impact, heavy weight - workouts, like Cathe, Kelly, Amy, Jari, etc., and avoid "dancey" workouts as much as possible because they don't challenge me at all. Well, this is the exception! What a hidden gem! There are several chapters to choose from; all cardio/dance, or upper toning, or lower toning, or abs+glutes, and stretch. Additionally, there are several premixes. My favorite is the cardio & weights circuit plus the abs & stretch premix which add up to about 1 hour for a total body workout that is so much fun - wow! I like that each segment is long enough and with enough reps to feel it. I use the maximum weight I can handle. This cardio dance is probably the first dance style workout I came across that is actually a real workout. I do add more high impact where practical. The cueing is excellent and easy to follow, the set is very clean, modern and bright, and the music is fabulous. GREAT DVD!! - posted by holly on 4/30/2010
Not bad!
Good intermediate workout with a high-fun-factor Latin cardio dance segment, a relaxing but simple stretch, and good toning moves. - posted by Tilla on 2/10/2009
Awesome Workout DVD
Working out with this DVD is sooo much fun. I especially like the cardio dance part and destress part. The toning exericses are great too and you will really feel those. Giselle is once again very energetic and friendly , as on previous workouts. I have only tried one of the premix workouts so far, which was the interval one. With warm up and cool down , it came to around 40 minutes. I felt really worked out aferwards and will be doing this option more often. I highly recommend this DVD and I think it's Giselle's best so far and hope , she will bring out more like this in the future. GREAT...GREAT Workout DVD!
Loved all the workouts on the DVD. The Yoga like workout was great, loved the live piano music, very relaxing. Also, really liked the suggested bonus workouts. A must have to get all your workouts for the week - cardio, toning and yoga like workouts. - posted by Maria on 8/25/2008

Reading a Time Graph
X
Each workout shows a time graph of the workout sequence, from beginning to end. For example, this workout starts with a 10-minute warm-up and ends with a 10-minute stretch. In between, you'll do aerobics, then toning, then a cooldown.
sample time graph
Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.

Premixes
X
These are alternate workouts created by the manufacturer. They use the same content as the main program (i.e. the very same video footage). But the sections are re-edited into pre-made alternative workouts that you select from a menu. These are often condensed versions of the main workout.
Chapter menus
X
You can play only the individual workout segments you want by picking them off a chapter menu (one at a time).
Wide screen
X
The program fully fills a wide-screen television screen. Note: These videos will display black bars at the top and bottom on a traditional 4 x 3 ratio TV screen.
Region 1
X
This DVD is designed for US and Canadian DVD players. It will NOT play in most foreign country players.
Level
X
Beginner: Just starting out, very overweight or haven't exercised in over six months.

Intermediate: Active in sports, dance or any regular exercise (2 to 3 times per week).

Advanced: Very active in sports or consistently work out four or more times per week.

Aerobics impact
X
Lower Impact: Both feet never leave the ground at the same time. This minimizes stress on your knees.

Higher Impact: Includes movements like jumps, hops and skips. Very high-impact is called plyometrics.

Mixed Impact: This alternates or combines the above styles.

Aerobics choreography
X
Basic: The easiest to follow. It ranges from simple walking-style marches to sports and athletic movements.

Complex: More intricate combinations and patterns. They're ideal for people who like to dance.

Moderate: More interesting than Basic, less dancy than Complex.

Toning emphasis
X
Upper body: Arms, chest and back.

Lower Body: Legs, thighs, hips and buttocks.

Abs: Abdominals (stomach), core and sometimes lower back.

Total body: Tones all three of the above muscle groups.

Floor aerobics & toning
X
Definition: Includes two workout activities. The aerobics segments are fast-paced standing movements like marching, dancing and jumping. These segments require no equipment. The toning sections are slow, controlled movements working against a resistance. These may include Pilates and weight training.

Benefits: The combination of both activities provides a balanced workout. The aerobics burns calories, strengthens your heart and increases stamina. The toning builds lean muscles, increases your metabolism and makes everyday activities easier.
