Certified instructor description: By the inventor of step aerobics, it’s the perfect introduction to step workouts. You get a solid fat-burner as you learn all the step basics. If you’ve ever wanted to try step — at home or at the club — this is the program for you. An IDEA Instructor of the Year with 12 years of step experience, Gin knows what might be frustrating and how to make it understandable (“a tap is often used to change the lead leg”). The video has six distinct segments; you can advance at your own pace and stop when you want. You’ll begin with the simplest steps and the easiest patterns. By the end, you’ll have naturally progressed into classic step-aerobic combos (e.g. straddles, turns, transitions). ©2004. DVD has: Chapter menus.

Gin Miller's Everybody Steps

Terrific beginner video
I have never been coordinated enough to try step so this video was a great way to get started. Gin keeps it simple but the pace makes it challenging. Really great workout! - posted by Joyce on 5/9/2012

Great for Beginning Me
I'm quite new to step--picked it up to intensify my workouts. My heart rate monitor indicates that this is working. I enjoy this DVD--good explanations, and Gin Miller is genuinely pretty funny. She seems to be having fun. I'm using the lowest level of my step, and while my knees got a tad sore at first, it's all okay now. Here's what I want, though--I want there to be a menu that allows me to go straight to the cooldown. I usually have about 45 minutes to exercise in the morning, and this is a tad longer. It'd be helpful if I could get quickly to the cooldown. It would also help me craft a custom workout if there were a menu that broke things down. - posted by Trixie on 4/28/2012
Awesome for beginners
I love this video! It's slow paced which is perfect for me being about 50 pounds overweight. The cuing and explanation is spot on. Anyone can do this video even if you have two left feet. I used to do step videos years ago and always felt like I was tripping over my own feet. Not with this video! It's fun too. I actually look forward to exercising now. - posted by Kristen on 3/2/2012
Gin Miller's Everybody Steps
I've only had the DVD a couple of weeks and since it's close to Christmas had not had a lot of time to workout. The times I did...I loved it. - posted by Paula on 12/17/2011
Great video, especially for beginners like me
I really like this video. Her directions are clear and easy to follow for beginners. Everything is in 10 minute sections so you can start at whatever level of fitness feels right - very unfit? get through the 10 minute warm-up until you feel comfortable to add the next segment. If you're already fit, there's a 60 minute workout to follow. She starts with the feet and adds the arms after you've got the steps down. There's lots of repetition, which really helps get the steps down before adding more moves. She also gives you options - drop the arms if it's too hard or march in place for a bit if you're tired or get lost with the choreography. I used to be very active but gained 50+ pounds and lost a great deal of fitness in the past few years - this was a great DVD to get back on track. Aside from feeling tired physically, the workout goes by quickly because it's both physically challenging and mentally engaging - no zoning out like on the treadmill! All the good reviews of this are right on target - highly recommend it. - posted by Erika on 12/11/2011
Just What I Wanted
I wanted a video that reviewed the basics and this was perfect. I would recommend to anyone who is just beginning or like me, had been some time since stepping. - posted by Phyllis on 12/1/2011
good video
I got bad knees so this works just fine. - posted by sheila on 9/8/2011

This is an "old school" step routine but I enjoy it. The steps are basic, easy to follow and gets the job done on a day when you may not want to work out as strenuously. I like that there are pauses every ten minutes so you can do the entire dvd or trim it down when you're short on time. Gin Miller is relaxed and provides excellent queing. This was all around a goood buy for me. :) - posted by Tracey on 7/28/2011
Very useful! Great for beginner.
It's taken me awhile to get through the whole video, so my comment is late. I think its great! Gin is very easy to follow and does a great job of cueing. I'd tried step in videos before and it was incomprehensible, so this is GREAT for a beginner and a quite decent workout too. I also appreciate the effort chart that's put up every 10 minutes so you can know whether you're in the right intensity range. - posted by Betsy on 7/26/2011

Reading a Time Graph
X
Each workout shows a time graph of the workout sequence, from beginning to end. For example, this workout starts with a 10-minute warm-up and ends with a 10-minute stretch. In between, you'll do aerobics, then toning, then a cooldown.

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.
