Certified instructor description: Six bootcamp-style programs set on a sunny Hawaiian beach. This is Gilad's longest — and most intense — multi-workout set. As always, Gilad’s cuing and moves are no-nonsense and effective. The toning segments feature proven classics — from pushups to dumbbell rows, from lunges to leg lifts. They also include lots of time-efficient, compound exercises (e.g. working your arms with bicep curls as you tone your legs with squats). The aerobic sections feature athletic-style kickbox moves — from punches and jabs to kicks and jump-rope motions (without a jump rope). Gilad is Hot hot hot
The video is very good. I like the layout of the video, which places the aerobic section between 2 sculpting segments; however, I really like Gilad's classical aerobics rather than his kicboxing, as I find this not to be particularly challenging. As always Gilad keeps the direction simple and he is very cheeky, so I always enjoy that and he keeps me motivated to continue to press play. - posted by Sandra on 2/16/2012
Great Videos for men and women
I bought these so my husband would have workout videos to do on alternating days. I already knew that Gilad had great workouts from his TV shows and was already a fan. My husband became an instant fan after his first workout. The length of 45 minutes is a perfect workout and you can adjust your workout by using heavier or lighter weights. Which makes it perfect for men and women to use. The only drawback is the editing going from segment to segment where there was a commercial, but it is not that major. - posted by Beth on 3/24/2011
good but...
The workouts were good and could be made even harder by adding heavier weights, stepping up the cardio by jumping instead of side to side moves for example, but the commercial breaks were a real killer. Reps were incomplete because of it, and the next segment was already started when the commercial break was over. Need a better transition! - posted by sandy on 7/30/2010

Great series
I love Gilad's videos and even used to do this series following along with it on FitTV, but the time of the show didn't work into my schedule well. I was very happy to find out that these 6 videos include an additional cardio segment that is not shown on the TV show. These videos are great overall sculpting workouts for the intermediate. They are each 45 minutes and broken into the following segments: warm-up, sculpting, cardio, more sculpting and abs. The sculpting segments are great. Gilad really pushes you to your limit but moves on to a different body part just as your about to give up. The cardio segments are all boxing related and there isn't much difference between them through the 6 videos. The abs segments are short but you'll feel it. Gilad Rules
I am familiar with Gilad's workouts as I have lost lots of weight in the past by doing his 20 minute TV program workouts. It was a no brainer for me to purchase the Total Body Sculpt Plus. You will see results if you follow Gilad's routines a few times a week. The great thing about the Total Body Sculpt Plus is that the 6 videos are all 45 minutes in length which for me is the perfect lenghth of time. You most certainly will feel your body being sculpted. Also, the aerobics portion of the workout is kickboxing style which I enjoy. You catch onto it within a few tries. The only negative about the DVDs is that they were made for TV so he tells you to continue throughout the break but then there is no break. Gilad's personality is motivating, the tropical setting is a treat and you will feel awesome after doing these workouts! - posted by Lisa on 3/19/2010

Incomplete and disappointing
The set has a good mix of toning and cardio but the effectiveness of the exercises is limited by the interruptions, because of commercials which were edited out. As a result, the exercises are not challenging at all. I didn't break any sweat and my heartbeat did not go up. GILAD- you truly are the best!
Gilad, Keep them coming! I discovered you only 6 months ago. Wow, I could not believe the change in my body after just doing one of your dvds twice a week for one month. Whether its cardio or toning, all of your dvd videos are excellent. I now own most of your dvds. Please Gilad, can you come out with other cardio dvds like step and classic cardio. On everyone of your dvds, the locations are just beautiful. It makes me want to workout everyday with you and your gang. I love Trella, what a beautiful girl...Please continue to come out with new exercise dvds because I buy everyone of them. Collage, please make sure to have all of Gilad's Dvds in stock. These are great!
If you love Gilad or want toning workouts that have zero dread factor - this is it! I enjoy the split segments of toning, then kickbox, then back to toning. And the ab sections are great! I feel like I get a great workout in 45 minutes and the setting, along with Gilad and crew, is very motivating! My only critique of these workouts would be the breaks at the end of the toning segments, sometimes you will have to pause the DVD to make sure that you finish the reps on the other side in order to get a complete workout. - posted by Kim on 9/1/2009

Reading a Time Graph

Each workout shows a time graph of the workout sequence, from beginning to end. For example, this workout starts with a 10-minute warm-up and ends with a 10-minute stretch. In between, you'll do aerobics, then toning, then a cooldown.

Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.

You can play only the individual workout segments you want by picking them off a chapter menu (one at a time).
Level

Beginner: Just starting out, very overweight or haven't exercised in over six months.

Intermediate: Active in sports, dance or any regular exercise (2 to 3 times per week).

Advanced: Very active in sports or consistently work out four or more times per week.

Aerobics impact

Lower Impact: Both feet never leave the ground at the same time. This minimizes stress on your knees.

Higher Impact: Includes movements like jumps, hops and skips. Very high-impact is called plyometrics.

Mixed Impact: This alternates or combines the above styles.

Aerobics choreography

Basic: The easiest to follow. It ranges from simple walking-style marches to sports and athletic movements.

Complex: More intricate combinations and patterns. They're ideal for people who like to dance.

Moderate: More interesting than Basic, less dancy than Complex.

Toning emphasis

Upper body: Arms, chest and back.

Lower Body: Legs, thighs, hips and buttocks.

Abs: Abdominals (stomach), core and sometimes lower back.

Total body: Tones all three of the above muscle groups.

Floor aerobics & toning

Definition: Includes two workout activities. The aerobics segments are fast-paced standing movements like marching, dancing and jumping. These segments require no equipment. The toning sections are slow, controlled movements working against a resistance. These may include Pilates and weight training.

Benefits: The combination of both activities provides a balanced workout. The aerobics burns calories, strengthens your heart and increases stamina. The toning builds lean muscles, increases your metabolism and makes everyday activities easier.
