Certified instructor description: A bootcamp kickboxing workout filmed on the flight deck of an actual US Navy aircraft carrier. The ship’s energy is contagious — from helicopter landings in the background to Gilad’s spirited class (a motivating mix of Navy sailors, Marines and civilian exercisers). The workout is no-nonsense and easy-to-follow — mostly classic kickboxing plus some calisthenics and core toning routines. It’s taught add-on-style — Gilad starts with the basics, then progressively raises the intensity by adding new moves. The group’s attitude is great; this group is both “disciplined” and “enthusiastic.” Requires 3 to 5 lb. dumbbells. ©2006. DVD has: Chapter menus, Wide screen.

Gilad's Elite Forces Fat Burning Workout

What a Workout.
This is a wonderful full body, fat burning video. I've been working out with Gilad's videos for over three years now. If you are into boxing routines this is the workout for you. Fast paced, fast moving, never a moment to catch your breath. I've always been underweight, This video is a fat burner but since muscle weighs more than fat, even I have put on some good muscle weight. If you are looking for a good boxing routine that will get your heart pumping and make you feel like you just spent an hour in the gym without leaving home. By the way, I'm also 55, so even us older folks can get a great workout and look like we are still in our thirties. Love it. - posted by Mary Anne on 3/31/2011
Great Gilad Kickboxing Workout
This workout is classic Gilad with the added fun of a new location. Instead of a Hawaiian beach, we get the backdrop of an aircraft carrier. This is a fun workout that is mostly kickboxing, with a little plyometrics and strength training thrown in. I even loved the "behind the scenes" featurette that showed the crew touring the ship. My only complaint is the audio. There are times when the sound of aircraft taking off and landing overpowers the vocal track. It's never enough to keep you from following along, but it's enough to be a distraction. - posted by Lynn on 2/24/2011
TONS OF FUN, COOLER VIDEO
I liked this video because its very fun and its cool and not boring. The aerobics are so tight because they are fun. And the toning was the funnest of all because it had too much toning. I wrote this review because it makes me happy when I see the exercise movie. - posted by Staphon on 7/11/2009
Disappointing
This is the first Gilad workout I have tried. I thought the cuing was poor and there is too much repition. For example, between the different moves, he only does 'jump ropes' or jumping jacks. How about adding some different cardio moves? I was pretty bored less than half way through and felt like the workout was definitely lacking (for lack of a better word). I rented this one and will never do it again. Gilad needs to get more hip/modern with the moves. I just felt like he kept doing the same thing over and over again. Don't waste your time or your money on this one! - posted by Kelli on 1/28/2009
Fun, drenching workout
Even though I sometimes get a little bit tired of Gilad's "jokes" and style in general, I do love the workouts and this one is fast becoming one of my favorites. For me, the number of repetitions are perfect, he stops just when I would have to take a break anyway. I can get through the entire workout, but I'm soaked and exhausted at the end - perfect. I agree that the cueing is not perfect, it took a few tries to not miss repetitions based on bad instructions and timing. And sometimes the noise from helicopters and planes are a bit annoying. But all in all, I think it deserves 5 stars and more. - posted by Cattie on 1/16/2009
Uninspiring
Usually I like to do a workout at least twice before writing a review but I doubt I will ever be inspired to pop this one in again. Parts of it were fun but overall I really didn't enjoy myself. I thought Gilad's cueing during the calisthenics portion was fairly poor, there was no ab work and the strength section was lacking. Overall I don't recommend this one. - posted by Ariel in California on 4/7/2008
One of my favorites
This is one of my favorite exercise videos. Not too tough, but not easy. The judo moves are a refreshing change of pace. I like shorter videos. Though a bit longer than I prefer, I don't find this one to be too long for my workouts. When pressed for time, I can easily skip the last segment. Gilad always keeps it interesting with short scenery breaks. And like most Gilad videos, the music doesn't distract. If my DVD were to brake, I would buy another copy of this. - posted by Kevin on 3/28/2008
Liked This One Very Much!
This is the usual Gilad instructing on an aircraft carrier. I liked the set and had fun. This was a great workout and had me sweating. I love to do workouts that have outdoor scenery and Gilad's instruction is always impeccable. Worth the money. - posted by Sue on 3/14/2008
A good aerobics tape
This workout is good for days when you don't want too much weight training. And the weight training moves that he does have really exercised my shoulders (I did with 5 pound weights). A keeper for sure! - posted by Barbara on 5/20/2007
Fun and effective
Very fun and effective workout with a nice variety of upper and lower body moves. Also so nice to see the participants in the video really enjoying themselves - makes for a very energizing start to the day. - posted by on 5/15/2007

Reading a Time Graph
X
Each workout shows a time graph of the workout sequence, from beginning to end. For example, this workout starts with a 10-minute warm-up and ends with a 10-minute stretch. In between, you'll do aerobics, then toning, then a cooldown.

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.

Level
X
Beginner: Just starting out, very overweight or haven't exercised in over six months.

Intermediate: Active in sports, dance or any regular exercise (2 to 3 times per week).

Advanced: Very active in sports or consistently work out four or more times per week.

Aerobics impact
X
Lower Impact: Both feet never leave the ground at the same time. This minimizes stress on your knees.

Higher Impact: Includes movements like jumps, hops and skips. Very high-impact is called plyometrics.

Mixed Impact: This alternates or combines the above styles.

Aerobics choreography
X
Basic: The easiest to follow. It ranges from simple walking-style marches to sports and athletic movements.

Complex: More intricate combinations and patterns. They're ideal for people who like to dance.

Moderate: More interesting than Basic, less dancy than Complex.

X
Upper body: Arms, chest and back.

Lower Body: Legs, thighs, hips and buttocks.

Abs: Abdominals (stomach), core and sometimes lower back.

Total body: Tones all three of the above muscle groups.

Floor aerobics & toning
X
Definition: Includes two workout activities. The aerobics segments are fast-paced standing movements like marching, dancing and jumping. These segments require no equipment. The toning sections are slow, controlled movements working against a resistance. These may include Pilates and weight training.

Benefits: The combination of both activities provides a balanced workout. The aerobics burns calories, strengthens your heart and increases stamina. The toning builds lean muscles, increases your metabolism and makes everyday activities easier.
