Certified instructor description: Nine of Gilad’s “Bodies in Motion” TV shows from 1989 to 1992 (but without the annoying commercials). Each 22-minute program is a true total body workout — a varied medley of cardio, toning and stretch exercises. The moves are straight-forward, easy-to-follow classics. They range from marches, kicks and jumping jacks to squats, push-ups and crunches (“old school,” but still effective). This series is filmed on a cruise ship, on a beach and on a rocky oceanside setting. Gilad is a motivating, no-nonsense instructor (and, in this series, a little bit playful). ©2008. Gilad's Classic TV Shows Vol. 2

Gilad, Series 2 Primate
As a Gilad fan for many years I was very disappointed in the Primate tape. Gilad was going more for laughs then fitness. The first part of the tape was fine. The 2nd tape in this series was particularly bad. Gilad rushed through it because he wasted so much time with the chimp. The final part of this series ended with a very difficult back exercise which I would not recommend to viewers with back issues. I would not recommend this tape at all. - posted by Helen on 1/24/2012
Mixed/Basic
I really like Gilad's workouts. He always has a good mix to choose from. I have brought my new DVDs to Kauai with me so I can continue my daily workout schedule. Thank you Gilad. - posted by Sara on 2/18/2011
Gilad is lots of fun !!!
I use to have his video's in the plain cases. When DVDs came along I gave away the video's. Browsing through Collage Video I came across these on DVD's and bought them. I'm so glad I did. There is no excuse not to do a short workout. The scenery is beautiful, the people are funny, and Gilad is motivational!!! - posted by Roxanna on 6/21/2010
Gilad does it again!
I love these workouts with Gilad. As usual, the locations are wonderful and the workouts are always effective. He has a warm-up, aerobics, toning, working the abs and cool-down. These workouts are only 22 mintues each so you can do one or more workout as you wish. The only reason I did not give 5 stars is because in the "Primates in motion" DVD, there is a "monkey" trying to exercise with the crew and although he is very cute, it is very distracting for Gilad and crew trying to give instructions and follow the workout. I still find the idea very original though. All in all, I think the other 2 DVDs are really great! Thanks Gilad. - posted by LOLA on 11/16/2009
Reading a Time Graph
X
Each workout shows a time graph of the workout sequence, from beginning to end. For example, this workout starts with a 10-minute warm-up and ends with a 10-minute stretch. In between, you'll do aerobics, then toning, then a cooldown.

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.

Level
X
Beginner: Just starting out, very overweight or haven't exercised in over six months.

Intermediate: Active in sports, dance or any regular exercise (2 to 3 times per week).

Advanced: Very active in sports or consistently work out four or more times per week.

Aerobics impact
X
Lower Impact: Both feet never leave the ground at the same time. This minimizes stress on your knees.

Higher Impact: Includes movements like jumps, hops and skips. Very high-impact is called plyometrics.

Mixed Impact: This alternates or combines the above styles.

Aerobics choreography
X
Basic: The easiest to follow. It ranges from simple walking-style marches to sports and athletic movements.

Complex: More intricate combinations and patterns. They're ideal for people who like to dance.

Moderate: More interesting than Basic, less dancy than Complex.

Toning emphasis
X
Upper body: Arms, chest and back.

Lower Body: Legs, thighs, hips and buttocks.

Abs: Abdominals (stomach), core and sometimes lower back.

Total body: Tones all three of the above muscle groups.

Floor aerobics & toning
X
Definition: Includes two workout activities. The aerobics segments are fast-paced standing movements like marching, dancing and jumping. These segments require no equipment. The toning sections are slow, controlled movements working against a resistance. These may include Pilates and weight training.

Benefits: The combination of both activities provides a balanced workout. The aerobics burns calories, strengthens your heart and increases stamina. The toning builds lean muscles, increases your metabolism and makes everyday activities easier.
