Certified instructor description: Two workouts: cardio and toning - they’re no-gimmicks, easy-to-follow programs filmed on a Hawaiian beach. "Fat Burning" combines basic athletic moves with high-energy aerobics. Starting easier and becoming more intense, you get a little of everything: marches, lunges, jacks, kicks, knee lifts and even a few simple dance steps. "The Toning Workout" is equally straight-forward, It features a medley of non-dumbbell standing and floor body-sculpting routines - from squats and lunges to ab crunches and push-ups. Gilad's 45-45 Split Routine Workout

Still great after all these years!
I bought the 45/45 Split Routine in 1991 as a VHS tape! When I saw that it was available as a DVD, I snapped it up. I do both sections together as one great workout. I love to exercise and like variety. I walk most days, go to a great core fusion class at least a couple of times per week (Exhale, where I take class, also has a DVD available from Collage.) When the weather is too hot, too cold, or too rainy, this is my "go to" exercise video. It's easy to follow, has nice variety and is filmed on a beautiful beach. Highly recommended video. And, as always, great service from Collage Video. - posted by Sheree on 3/29/2012
Love Gilad!!
If you workout at home Gilad will always keep you motivated. Great aerobic workout for a 53 year old that use to teach aerobics and step at a major Health Club. Also love that the toning segment is on the same DVD. Even though Gilad does not use weights in the toning segment I always use my hand weights and 5 lb ankle weights for the lower body segment. - posted by Lynn on 12/30/2011
EXCELENT MOTIVATION & WORKOUT
I think that if very important method when you want to try loss weight. I gain more than 70 lbs. in less than 8 years. I comeback with Gilad routing because if the best. I tried different instructor and is not the same. Thanks. - posted by MORENO on 3/31/2011
One of my favorites
This is straight-forward, intermediate and gets the job done. I don't like fancy choreography and a bunch of equipment. This is easy to follow, fun and a good workout for an intermediate level. I use it mostly either when I have not been working out in a while and want to ease back into it, or on days when I am tired. It is not too hard, but definitely a workout that gets you sweating. But it is also a nice length for an "easy" day. - posted by Marci on 3/20/2011
GILAD IS GREAT!!
Gilad's cardio workout is intense and motivating!!! I enjoy it alot! I like that I feel like I am burning calories. Some things to keep in mind that might cause a difficulty: 1- it is fast paced and uses up alot of energy and is not meant for beginners, 2- some of the steps are complicated. The CD is a great buy because it includes an aerobic workout and a toning-workout. I sincerely thank Gilad for having provided this CD! And thank-you to the website where I found it! - posted by Mushka on 1/13/2011
I love these work outs!
Had this first workout on VHS years ago. When my tape player died I missed it. So glad to find it again on DVD. The cardio works up a sweat but is fun and not complicated. The 2nd work out is fab -tough and quick moving so it keeps you hanging in there. I see results and it hasn't been long since I started. - posted by Charlotte on 9/9/2010
Go Gilad!
I'm a longtime video exerciser and there's not many workouts I owned in VHS and have re-purchased in DVD form but this is one of them - Gilad is non-dancy basic exercise goodness - he gets your heart rate up and tones you with no fancy equipment. Gilad is no-nonsense but non-drill sergeant – nice and encouraging. I especially recommend this workout to those of you folk who consider yourselves intermediate and want to do some endurance stuff - this is the ticket! - posted by Susan W. on 11/30/2009
Perfect Pace!
Gilad is one of my favorites, and providing a workout that is half cardio/half toning is the ideal workout! Yes, it's long..but it is paced very well. It won't seem like 90 minutes to you at all. Gilad's moves are easy to follow and no-nonsense. This workout is proof you don't need fancy equipment to get in good shape! I love how the toning segment uses just your own resistance. I felt it in my arms more than anything else after doing 45/45! This is one I come back to quite a bit. - posted by Molly on 8/25/2009
I LOVE THIS WORKOUT
I exercise everyday and have tried MANY different instructors and I love Gilad the most. His workouts are so fun and easy to follow (not dancy). The people he has working out with him are really funny too; they are so down to earth, it's refreshing. I especially like this one because it really is an excellent cardio workout along with excellent toning exercises in the second segment. I do both the cardio segment and the toning segment together and no matter how many times I've done this workout I am still sweating at the end. I HIGHLY recommend this one. - posted by Therese on 2/18/2009
Great Workout
I've been doing the toning workout since 1991 and still love it! I've tried MANY workout vidoes over the years, but have found nothing that compares. The results are phenominal! - posted by Sherry on 8/8/2008

Reading a Time Graph
X
Each workout shows a time graph of the workout sequence, from beginning to end. For example, this workout starts with a 10-minute warm-up and ends with a 10-minute stretch. In between, you'll do aerobics, then toning, then a cooldown.

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.

Chapter menus
X
You can play only the individual workout segments you want by picking them off a chapter menu (one at a time).
Level
X
Beginner: Just starting out, very overweight or haven't exercised in over six months.

Intermediate: Active in sports, dance or any regular exercise (2 to 3 times per week).

Advanced: Very active in sports or consistently work out four or more times per week.

Aerobics impact
X
Lower Impact: Both feet never leave the ground at the same time. This minimizes stress on your knees.

Higher Impact: Includes movements like jumps, hops and skips. Very high-impact is called plyometrics.

Mixed Impact: This alternates or combines the above styles.

Aerobics choreography
X
Basic: The easiest to follow. It ranges from simple walking-style marches to sports and athletic movements.

Complex: More intricate combinations and patterns. They're ideal for people who like to dance.

Moderate: More interesting than Basic, less dancy than Complex.

Toning emphasis
X
Upper body: Arms, chest and back.

Lower Body: Legs, thighs, hips and buttocks.

Abs: Abdominals (stomach), core and sometimes lower back.

Total body: Tones all three of the above muscle groups.

Floor aerobics & toning
X
Definition: Includes two workout activities. The aerobics segments are fast-paced standing movements like marching, dancing and jumping. These segments require no equipment. The toning sections are slow, controlled movements working against a resistance. These may include Pilates and weight training.

Benefits: The combination of both activities provides a balanced workout. The aerobics burns calories, strengthens your heart and increases stamina. The toning builds lean muscles, increases your metabolism and makes everyday activities easier.
