Certified instructor description: As Jillian says, "This video is about teens, by teens and for teens” (most of the program is a discussion between Jillian and a group of teenage girls). It begins with a conversation about weight-expectations, self-esteem and body image -- learning to feel good about the body you have. That’s followed by real-world nutrition advice -- making good choices and finding a balance ("I'm not going to say that you can never eat fast food”). The last section is hip hop dance instruction -- Jillian shows the moves while the girls follow along. It all ends with a very short “workout” where the girls demo the moves they've learned. ©2006. Previously released as "Cosmo Girl: Get Fit & Fab." DVD has: Chapter menus, Region 1.

Get Fit & Fab with Jillian Michaels

My 10 Year Old Loved It...
...And so did I. She learned quite a bit from the discussion Jillian had with the girls and encouraged her to ask me more questions that I don't think she would have otherwise about her body and the changes she's been experiencing with puberty. As for the dance part of the vid, my daughter had a ball and sweat like I've never seen her sweat before. I have to say that Jill is a pretty bad dancer haha, but I loved her nonetheless, really good spirit about her in this video. The other dancers were incredible, nothing overtly sexual in nature as teenagers love these days, just a plain old cute and creative dance routine that I enjoyed my daughter (sometimes I joined in) using on a daily basis. Wish there were other routines though as it seemed that soon after she learned it she no longer wanted to use the video. Overall a great video. We need more like it. - posted by Frenchelle on 10/21/2011
Just what I needed for nieces.
I have two teenage nieces Brandi(18) & Jamie(14). I purchased each niece the "GET FIT & FAB" DVD and had them to sit down to watch it together. I already had previewed the DVD. My wish is that they watched & Learned & will rewatch and learn more. I am a Lifestyle Coach & Personal Trainer and have in the past relied on Susan Powter tapes for an inspirational aid suggestion (STILL DO--Susan still rocks!!) The "FIT & FAB" is a 2011 version of inspiration. It covers eating issues, self image, foods and a workout for teens & Young 20's. Perfect. My wish is that Jillian had included a couple of overwieght teens in the interview section. - posted by Julia on 8/25/2011
It's a workout.
I got this video not realizing it was aimed at teenagers. They take you through the steps broken down in 4s, and building to a final workup which you do in it's entirety 4 times at increasing speeds. The diet advice/talk with the teenage girls was basic and informative, but I am over 40, not a teen. You need to balance and work hard and you will sweat. Like Jillian says, if she can do it, you can too. It was a little slow in the warm-up conducted by the cast members, so I prefer to warm-up myself and then start the workout. All and all I give it 3 stars and A+ on those days when I want to do something different than just cardio. - posted by Rose on 7/27/2011
Reading a Time Graph
X
Each workout shows a time graph of the workout sequence, from beginning to end. For example, this workout starts with a 10-minute warm-up and ends with a 10-minute stretch. In between, you'll do aerobics, then toning, then a cooldown.

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.
