Certified instructor description: A flowing series of mostly yoga-inspired moves that intermix cardio, toning and flexibility. The instructors’ thoughtful sequencing and careful focus on technique makes it energizing and effective. It begins with an extended warm-up and sun-salutation toning (using dumbbells). That’s followed by a faster-paced interval segment. It features multi-plane, compound toning that includes short aerobic bursts (e.g. cardio-speed plank/squat-thrust progressions). It ends with classic abwork and a soothing stretch. Requires 2 to 5 lb. dumbbells and a small ball (about 8-inches in diameter). ©2010. DVD has: Chapter menus, Wide screen.

Exhale: Core Fusion Bootcamp

Definitely Advanced
This is a challenging, advanced workout. I thought I had a pretty strong core, but boy do I have some room for improvement! The abs section is by far the most difficult of all the segments. I agree with one of the other reviewers about the stretch segment - why is it next to last, with a thigh segment being the last one? I fast forwarded to the thigh segment and then went back and picked up the stretch segment last. For this inconvenience, I gave it 4 stars, but otherwise a superb workout, especially for the thighs, glutes and core. - posted by Suzanne on 5/14/2012
Ouch!
There's not nearly enough of a warm up for this workout! I have other Exhale Core Fusion workouts, and this is the only one I don't like. The chair/hand weight exercises are tough on the lower back, even with modifications, and they come pretty early on in the workout. I suppose I'm used to Anusara yoga and mat Pilates workouts that warm up the body thoroughly before attempting these types of movements, because I was really afraid I was going to hurt myself. I think I'll stick with Power Sculpt and Energy Flow. - posted by Alyssa on 12/9/2011
Core Fusion Bootcamp
Fun and challenging! I also agree with others when they say intense-- but doable. Definitely a harder "No Shoes Required" workout! Recommend! - posted by Claire on 10/23/2011
Excellent!
I love this dvd! This is the second Exhale dvd I have purchased. I find it to be challenging but doable. I am a runner, but was looking for another type of workout to build my core strength. This is it! The instructors have a very calm demeanor. I will be purchasing their other dvds. I have "Energy Flow" as well, which is also a great workout. - posted by Kelly on 5/26/2011
Fun!
This is the first Core Fusion class I've tried that I've liked. The energy of the live class format works a lot better for me personally. It moves a bit faster and I would describe it as more of a yoga fusion with toning and I use the two jumpback sections as cardio holding a 6 lb medicine ball. Personally I am not a fan of holding plank with my hands on a ball so I modify with my hands on the floor. This isn't the most challenging workout I have but I enjoy the set up of these Core Fusion dvds as you can do as little or as much as you have time for. I enjoy this and recommended it to my sister who found it fun as well. - posted by Melissa on 5/24/2011
This Will Make You Sweat!
Be warned - this is a high intermediate to advanced level dvd, not an intermediate level. I don't have a playground ball so I used a 4 pound medicine ball, which did increase the intensity. I was begging for mercy before it was over. It is a little repetitive but tolerable. I docked it one star because it does not have programmable chapters. If you want to do only certain segments, you need to go back to the menu each time. - posted by Valerie on 5/22/2011
Sweat
Absolutely love it. I love all core fusion DVDs and this one was wonderful. It may look easy when you first see it, but once you start exercising you will pleasantly discover how hard it is, I didn't expect to sweat as much at the end, I did. Great workout. - posted by Kay on 5/20/2011
Excellent and Challenging Video
I really enjoyed this video, especially the first two yoga sections. I'm new to yoga but i have tried a few other videos and the Core fusion are my favorite when it comes to the yoga sections. They don't hold a position for too long making it a continuous motion and at the end of the two 10 minute work outs I'm sweating as if i had been working out for 40 minutes. I use Core Fusion videos as a morning workout because they are short and i feel they give me just the right intensity to start my day! - posted by Jackie on 5/12/2011
Love all of the Core Fusion workouts!
I have all of the Core Fusion DVD's - this was the last one I purchased and I was unsure if I'd like it after watching the video clip. It didn't seem it would be that challenging, but after reading the other reviews and so many talked about how challenging it was, I decided to give it a try. It was definitely tough!! I loved it though. I didn't have a small exercise ball so I used a yoga block and while this worked for most of the exercises there were a few a ball is really needed for. I do one DVD each day so I workout 7 days a week and never repeat a workout. It's great and the time flies! I have tried so many different workouts from running several times a week to strictly yoga or pilates and then other various DVD's. Nothing I have ever tried slimmed my hips and thighs, toned my butt and gave such a great overall total body workout as Core Fusion. I've been working out using these DVD's now for a year and I'm completely hooked! - posted by Ami on 4/28/2011

Reading a Time Graph
X
Each workout shows a time graph of the workout sequence, from beginning to end. For example, this workout starts with a 10-minute warm-up and ends with a 10-minute stretch. In between, you'll do aerobics, then toning, then a cooldown.

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.

Chapter menus
X
You can play only the individual workout segments you want by picking them off a chapter menu (one at a time).
Wide screen
X
The program fully fills a wide-screen television screen. Note: These videos will display black bars at the top and bottom on a traditional 4 x 3 ratio TV screen.
Level
X
Beginner: Just starting out, very overweight or haven't exercised in over six months.

Intermediate: Active in sports, dance or any regular exercise (2 to 3 times per week).

Advanced: Very active in sports or consistently work out four or more times per week.

Aerobics impact
X
Lower Impact: Both feet never leave the ground at the same time. This minimizes stress on your knees.

Higher Impact: Includes movements like jumps, hops and skips. Very high-impact is called plyometrics.

Mixed Impact: This alternates or combines the above styles.

Aerobics choreography
X
Basic: The easiest to follow. It ranges from simple walking-style marches to sports and athletic movements.

Complex: More intricate combinations and patterns. They're ideal for people who like to dance.

Moderate: More interesting than Basic, less dancy than Complex.

Toning emphasis
X
Upper body: Arms, chest and back.

Lower Body: Legs, thighs, hips and buttocks.

Abs: Abdominals (stomach), core and sometimes lower back.

Total body: Tones all three of the above muscle groups.

Floor aerobics & toning
X
Definition: Includes two workout activities. The aerobics segments are fast-paced standing movements like marching, dancing and jumping. These segments require no equipment. The toning sections are slow, controlled movements working against a resistance. These may include Pilates and weight training.

Benefits: The combination of both activities provides a balanced workout. The aerobics burns calories, strengthens your heart and increases stamina. The toning builds lean muscles, increases your metabolism and makes everyday activities easier.
