Certified instructor description: You get two beautifully filmed workouts plus a flexibility-enhancing yoga strap. It's a great introduction to yoga. The Hatha program is a series of simple poses taught in a step-by-step format. It's designed to let you internalize the correct form (while using the strap to help you achieve full-range-of-motion stretches). The Flow workout is faster-paced with more varied movements. It combines fluid Ashtanga poses with deep static stretches. Tamal Dodge is a skilled instructor -- his cuing is detailed, accepting and educational (often including yoga history and technique tips within his cuing). Filmed outdoors in a quiet garden setting. Strap is 72 inches long. ©2011. DVD has: Wide screen, Region 1.

Element: Hatha & Flow Yoga for Beginners kit

Not for beginners
I found both workouts very difficult. Flow especially was too strenuous on my wrists. Hatha had some very difficult moves. This was my very very first time to do yoga. So maybe its just that it's not for novice beginners. I am middle aged and I do other workouts pretty well. However I cannot be in the plank position for a long time as it is hard on my wrists. - posted by Julia on 12/28/2011
Pretty Good
The Hatha workout didn't stretch me out as well as some other Hatha Yoga dvds I have, like I wasn't warmed up enough for some of his poses, but it was good enough that I will do it again. The Flow workout was more like an "intermediate" workout, to me, and again, at first didn't like it very much. However, the second time I tried it, I did it alone, without doing the Hatha one too, and I liked it better, and felt strong & painfree afterward. So all-in-all pretty good! - posted by SAF on 11/9/2011
two excellent workouts
I've tried several yoga CD's over the years; this one is a winner - not only for beginners but also for those who just want to relax the whole body safely and effectively as well as calm the mind. the instructions are consistently clear and simple to follow, Tamal never forgets the cues on breathing. My only quibble is with the first part, where I have to reposition the mat for certain poses to be able to face the TV (and the instructor.) it can be annoying. The second part of the program is a bit faster and more strenuous, but you can modify the poses and still get a good workout. - posted by Erlinda Kravetz on 11/3/2011
Everything you need to get into yoga
This DVD is extremely well thought out! It's perfect for beginners who want to try yoga for the first time and advanced students who are looking for a great workout. Tamal is a wonderful teacher and learning yoga from him is something very special. This instructional video can help you bring a mindful & meditative quality to your yoga practice. The price is great and the DVD comes with a strap! - posted by Chris on 9/15/2011
Reading a Time Graph
X
Each workout shows a time graph of the workout sequence, from beginning to end. For example, this workout starts with a 10-minute warm-up and ends with a 10-minute stretch. In between, you'll do aerobics, then toning, then a cooldown.

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.
