Discover Bellydance: Beyond Basic Dance

It's a fun video!
It's an easy to follow video that part of a series I believe this is disc five. But it stands on it's own without much reference to the other videos. They show the moves at full speed then break it into a few slow and easy steps. It got here in the time suggested and in good shape. Not much of a workout video but nice instructional video, I suggest getting a hip scarf with coins on it so you can hear the moves you're making. Good luck! - posted by Anonymous. on 2/16/2012
Low-pressure, fun video
I've tried a couple of bellydance videos, such as Kathy Smith, but I love these videos because they convey something of the culture that developed this form of dance. The set is decent, the music is not too loud, and the instruction is unobtrusive, so I can focus on watching and imitating rather than trying to process verbal direction. Not much of a workout, but great for stress reduction, boosting your self-image, and getting in some core work and stretching. As with other forms of dance, I find myself incorporating some of these movements into other activities. - posted by Beth on 10/14/2010

Instructional... not a workout.
This wouldnt be a "workout." I didn't get tired at all-- My muscles didn't really feel worked out at all-- I workout everyday for an hour. I think I was able to watch the first few segments where they dance and catch on--- fast forward to areas I wanted more instruction on--- and whala. :-) But if you aren't looking for a class and you want to learn, this is good. NO GO if you're looking for exercise - posted by on 11/1/2005
Loved the rest, but this one made me sick
I love the Bellydance videos and own all of them, both the fitness and instructional videos. I use them all the time, except this one, which I've only viewed once, because all the twirling made me dizzy and sick. - posted by Jessica on 8/28/2004
love it
I am a beginner bellydance student and this video gives great instruction. It is not a workout, it's dance but it does get your heart-rate going during the choreographed dance at the end. The camera angles are perfect, the twins give good instruction and spend enough time for you to grasp each move. I have done this tape a number of times and I still haven't mastered it perfectly, this video is great. - posted by ang on 1/23/2002
good instruction, includes veil work
I am a beginner bellydance student. This tape introduces you to the slower moves of bellydancing. I finally mastered figure 8 hip moves because of their good instruction. I still can't get the turns/spins right. The veil work is great BUT the choreographed dance would have been better if it included an option for not using the veil, they tell us we can do it without a veil but it does not incorporate many of the moves taught. This tape is great and is a must for bellydance students. - posted by Ang on 12/11/2001
Reading a Time Graph
X
Each workout shows a time graph of the workout sequence, from beginning to end. For example, this workout starts with a 10-minute warm-up and ends with a 10-minute stretch. In between, you'll do aerobics, then toning, then a cooldown.

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.

You can play only the individual workout segments you want by picking them off a chapter menu (one at a time).
Music only option
