Certified instructor description: The ten precision-focused segments let you accurately target your personal “trouble spots” (e.g. there are four separate upper-body sections: chest, arms, back and shoulders). It’s easy — the DVD lets you play any segment in any order, or choose one of the pre-programmed 10 to 60-minute premixes (each five-minute section is carefully designed to smoothly transition from one to the next). Denise optimizes results with “supersets” — working each muscle group to the max with a fast-changing medley of proven exercises. As usual, Denise is totally motivating — she’s non-technical, bubbly and always positive (“this is sure to flatten your tummy,” “you’re looking great!”). Requires 3 to 5 lb. dumbbells. ©2007. DVD has: 3 premixes (11 to 31-min. alternate workouts), Programmable chapters, Close captions, Region 1.

Denise Austin's Ten 5-Minute Target Toners

Loved this video
I love Denise's videos, although cuing is not her strong point. I always look forward to her videos in my rotation. I really liked this toning video, it's amazing how much she fits into 5 minutes. I like the flexibility of being able to program the workout according to how much time I have, & I felt that all of the exercises were effective. - posted by Sandra on 5/3/2012
Just not enough!
I don't understand the intermediate rating on this one. I bought it based on the ratings and the intermediate level. I did the whole video and barely broke a sweat. I get more of a workout from doing all three segments of Denise's Shrink Your Fat Zones Pilates or even her new Shape Up and Shed Pounds. There simply aren't enough reps! - posted by Jennifer on 3/21/2012
Poor cuing and transitioning
If you have knee or back problems I definitely do not recommend this workout. I'm not a huge Denise fan as her perky voice and manner really annoys me. This being said I think she's a decent instructor and I like her Bootcamp DVD. The problem is through most of Denise's workouts this one, her yoga etc. is that she moves too quickly throughout with really poor cuing and instruction. She doesn't give a lot of explanation or break down for beginner/intermediate. I did this once and while I like some of the different moves it is not a safe workout because there is such poor instruction and she moves around way too quickly for you to follow unless you know this DVD by heart and are very quick on your feet. There is a lot of up and down in this DVD so if you have knee or back problems I'd avoid!!! This one is going to the bottom of the pile! I won't use it or give it away as I don't think its safe. - posted by Kiesha on 2/1/2012

Great workout
I really liked this DVD! There was lots of variety...no time to get bored..and she really worked just about every muscle group. The music was pleasant. as well, I have to admit that while I like Denise, some of her videos have annoyed me. I wasn't annoyed by anything in this one. Great job!-Julie - posted by Julie on 6/22/2011
Great
I love Denise, and I have a two of her DVD's. I got this for those time crunched days that I seem to have alot of lately. I was pleased to get such good workouts in such a short amount of time - they really worked the muscles. At 51, and a Christian Toddler and Preschool Teacher, I do not have the time for the 45 minute workouts I used to do for years, much less the energy. This is great! Thanks Denise. - posted by Tracy on 6/9/2011
This Video is Awesome!
The workout segments are only 5 minutes each, but they are really concentrated on each area and you really feel it. I have several workout videos, and I have to say this is one of my favorites! - posted by Kathleen on 3/31/2011
I love Denise!
I've been using Denise's workouts since she was on lifetime tv years ago starting in my teens; I only wish those were on DVD! This is a great workout that has so many time options it's hard to not get something out of this. It's perfect for the expecting mother who has a base in fitness, new moms with no time, add ons to other workouts, and a workout within itself. I use several sets of weights, a different increment for the back/chest, arms, and shoulders to make sure my muscles get the right amount of work without it being too heavy or too light. The lower body uses a lot of Callenetics and Barre-style movements. I have carpeting and have had knee surgery amongst other joint issues and the workout is fine. For one of the lower body segments you'll need a chair or study couch for balance barre work. You can add ankle weights or use a weighted vest for more challenge. For 5 minute segments you can't go wrong. She supersets moves so there is no down time except to transition from standing to the floor and back. I find this will be a great option to add onto Leslie Sansone's Walk Strong for example. You get some muscle work in that DVD, but certain groups aren't hit or hit hard enough for my needs. Now I can pop in a 5-20 minute workout and call it a day. I see the most benefit for moms. There is no excuse to not find 5 minutes every few hours. Add this onto other workouts like her Personal Training DVD and Leslie Sansone for a powerful combo that will produce results without dread factor. If you, like me are not into the advanced instructors and using a gym style workout, this is perfect! No long boring weight workouts and a laundry list of euipment needed. A few sets of dumbbells (she uses 1 weight for all segments), mat, chair, and optional ankle weights are all you need. Denise is over 50 yrs old and on a daily basis practices what she preaches. I don't know, but if the gal looks this good without killing herself and spending hours a day on fitness, something must be working! - posted by Old School Exerciser on 2/10/2011
Good segements
I love this dvd denise has broken it down to each body part the workout since I'm some times short on time I do some one day the others the next day but her motivation is so good that most of the time I'll push myself to do all. I feel the burn of satisfaction after the workout it works. - posted by Fran on 9/30/2010
Love Denise!
I always have been a follower of Denise Austin. These workouts may be short in time, but they are extremely effective. I love to select or customize and work on specific areas. I find her ab workout really effective, but not "killer" - who likes to have cramped sore abs? A friend gave this to me and she isn't getting it back ;). When you are short on time, or just want variety to your workout, you can add these to your routine or make up your own routine. So much fun! - posted by Tommie on 7/5/2010

Reading a Time Graph
X
Each workout shows a time graph of the workout sequence, from beginning to end. For example, this workout starts with a 10-minute warm-up and ends with a 10-minute stretch. In between, you'll do aerobics, then toning, then a cooldown.

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.
