Certified instructor description: Two different interval segments — alternating fast/slow cardio and alternating aerobics/toning. Combining both techniques in one program maximizes variety and results. The all-aerobic section has three progressively intensifying circuits. Each starts low-impact, then moves to higher-impact and ends with a short cardio burst (e.g. full-fledged jumping jacks). The aero/tone section mixes cardio bursts into the body-sculpting. These creative toning moves are mostly fast-paced, compound routines that work the upper and lower body at the same time (e.g. a side lunge blended with an upright row). Requires 2 to 10 lb. dumbbells. ©2010. DVD has: Programmable chapters, Music only option, Wide screen, Close captions, Region 1.

Denise Austin's Quick Burn Cardio

Fun Workout
I have never been a Denise fan, but with the reviews and video clip decided to try - was looking for more and varied cardio's. Am an intermediate and like a good variety. This is a good workout with fun moves. Not dancie or complex - (I'm not a fan of dance stuff). Although the cuing is much to be desired, I did enjoy it and really got a great workout using the full workout - both 20 minute cardio segments - one just cardio and the other with weights. So it will be a good addition to my collection. May try another one of her new ones. - posted by Vickie on 1/10/2012
Enjoyable workout
I'm a solid intermediate exerciser and have enjoyed trying a few of Denise's workouts lately. The first workout is higher impact but is easy to modify and I have to do that a bit since I have some feet issues that make too much impact a no-no for me. I especially enjoy the second workout with the weights. It sort of reminds me a bit of Firm 4-limb cardio, which I really enjoy. Denise's cuing is a bit better and the moves aren't difficult to follow. Overall, a keeper for me. - posted by Elaine on 9/5/2011
Great Workout!
This is a great workout. It has two twenty minute workouts-one cardio and one strength/cardio. Put them both together and you have a great 40 minute workout! I am an intermediate/advanced exerciser and I thought it was the right amount of difficulty for me. It was fun and interesting with compound moves, new exercises, and no repeating of exercises. I've done this workout so many times since I've gotten it! - posted by Aimee on 8/5/2011
Tougher than I expected!
I love this new work out from Denise! The cardio section is great, you are constantly moving and I love that the "recovery" moves are all standing moves for your abs. The music is better than most Denise dvds. The weights section kicked my butt...there are many lunges and overhead moves combined which really keeps your heart rate up! I had to switch from 5 pound to 3 pound weights to keep up! Great job, Denise! - posted by T on 6/12/2011
Denise Brings It
I have been exercising with her since her fitness programs on the lifetime channel. She never disappoints. She really brought it on this workout. It is the toughest Denise workout but with no dread and all fun. I love this workout. I was drenched in sweat after doing the complete workout. She really works you without that "I feel like I'm going to die" feeling afterward. She has some unique moves in this dvd. It is a complete great buy for me and I am looking forward to whatever she brings out next. - posted by Tiffany on 6/9/2011
Quick and Fun
I enjoyed this workout alot, quick and easy for those short on time days. - posted by Nikki on 4/13/2011
Really Great Workout!
Wow- Denise has been out-doing herself lately with her new workouts. This one is a great cardio interval/strength with compound moves workout for sure. I have just been getting back into Denise after trying some of her older workouts and not being very impressed by them in the past. I must say I have changed my mind about Denise and her workouts lately. This has a great warm-up, a 20 min Cardio Interval workout with great moves-easy to follow and you can do high or low impact. The Cardio Weight section is my FAVE. She uses all compound moves using weights and it really gets your heart rate up! The cool down/stretch is great to. - posted by TracyAzGal on 4/4/2011
Fun & Awesome Workout!
This is a great workout! I like that it is broken down so if you only have a little time you can do just one of the 20 minute workouts BUT if time allows doing the entire workout it is a total body workout. I also like that the warm up and cool down are not included in the "workout" time so you do actually get the full time in workout mode. The steps are easy to follow and she give great cues for changes. - posted by Dee on 3/22/2011
Really works you out
The first time i tried it, at the end of the workout I was aching. I don't usually workout and haven't really had for a long period of time but how much weight should or do you lose using this because I'm trying to slim down for the summer - posted by Jazmin on 3/6/2011
I like it
I just received this dvd and did my first workout with it today. I like it already. Like a reviewer below, I'm getting back in shape after a long hiatus and I formerly used the old, old Firm workouts (like, Jaynee Poteet and Janet Jones old), so the difficulty level is about right- it's not out of my reach as a beginner, and I think that I can grow with it as I get stronger. The moves are good for me (I have trouble with complicated choreography), tough enough that I don't have them right off the bat, but not so tough that I won't catch on and enjoy the variety that they offer. Yeah, the cueing thing...it's not so good; however, I don't think that it will be a problem once I'm familiar with the workout. And finally, yes, Denise Austin does have an exceptionally perky persona, but I try not to take it personally ;-) - posted by kristin on 3/2/2011

Reading a Time Graph
X
Each workout shows a time graph of the workout sequence, from beginning to end. For example, this workout starts with a 10-minute warm-up and ends with a 10-minute stretch. In between, you'll do aerobics, then toning, then a cooldown.

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.

Programmable chapters
X
At the beginning of your workout, you can select the exact segments you want to play that day. The DVD will then play all those segments in the order you chose.
Music only option
X
This feature allows you to play only the music, without any cuing (after you’ve learned the movements and you just want to do the workout without listening to the instruction).
Wide screen
X
The program fully fills a wide-screen television screen. Note: These videos will display black bars at the top and bottom on a traditional 4 x 3 ratio TV screen.
Region 1
X
This DVD is designed for US and Canadian DVD players. It will NOT play in most foreign country players.
Level
X
Beginner: Just starting out, very overweight or haven't exercised in over six months.

Intermediate: Active in sports, dance or any regular exercise (2 to 3 times per week).

Advanced: Very active in sports or consistently work out four or more times per week.

Aerobics impact
X
Lower Impact: Both feet never leave the ground at the same time. This minimizes stress on your knees.

Higher Impact: Includes movements like jumps, hops and skips. Very high-impact is called plyometrics.

Mixed Impact: This alternates or combines the above styles.

Aerobics choreography
X
Basic: The easiest to follow. It ranges from simple walking-style marches to sports and athletic movements.

Complex: More intricate combinations and patterns. They're ideal for people who like to dance.

Moderate: More interesting than Basic, less dancy than Complex.

Toning emphasis
X
Upper body: Arms, chest and back.

Lower Body: Legs, thighs, hips and buttocks.

Abs: Abdominals (stomach), core and sometimes lower back.

Total body: Tones all three of the above muscle groups.

Floor aerobics & toning
X
Definition: Includes two workout activities. The aerobics segments are fast-paced standing movements like marching, dancing and jumping. These segments require no equipment. The toning sections are slow, controlled movements working against a resistance. These may include Pilates and weight training.

Benefits: The combination of both activities provides a balanced workout. The aerobics burns calories, strengthens your heart and increases stamina. The toning builds lean muscles, increases your metabolism and makes everyday activities easier.
