Certified instructor description: Two workouts. One for kids 8 to 12 years old and another to do together as a family. These are not just “playing” — both programs include a variety of ’real’ exercises. And, of course, they feature Denise’s legendary enthusiasm and energy (“just do the best you can”). The kids’ routines have a definite dance orientation; from “hula hoop” and “bicycle” to grapevines and kickboxing (plus push-ups, crunches and even some basic yoga poses). The family program is especially fun; it also includes interactive exercises like tossing a basketball or helping each other stretch. ©2004. DVD has: Chapter menus, Close captions, Region 1.

Denise Austin's Fit Kids

Slightly difficult sequences
The exercises in this video were beginner level; my children had no difficulty keeping up physically, but the sequence(s) and choreography seemed difficult for my 5 and 7 year old. We've done the video four times and it does get easier, but I had to keep encouraging them not to give up at first. - posted by Mari on 10/4/2011
Good for kids.
I like it. This instructor is great. Nice exercises and easy that my son can follow well. I think it is a good video for kids who do not exercise to much. It is excellent to do on winter time. The video has one part to do with other family member, my son enjoys this part with me. - posted by Aila on 2/18/2011

This is a fabulous DVD for students and a 62 year old teacher who is required to teach P.E. I work out with this DVD and really feel great! - posted by Bonnie on 10/11/2010
Great start to a healthy lifestyle!
Love this workout! My daughter loves it! My husband and I work out daily and the kids wanted in on it and this is perfect! It is real exercises just with no weights and the family work out is fun! I highly recommend this workout! - posted by Melissa on 9/23/2010
Denise Austin's Fit Kids
It was way to fast and intense for kids. The family part was the best, more of a slower pace and more fun, but my kids could not even keep up with the kids version. Their age's are 6 and 11. - posted by Rose on 4/8/2010
Amazing
I'm a 15 year old and i love the kids workout! it makes me feel good and helps me with my sports even tho Denise does instruct in baby talk its amazing! I LOVE IT! - posted by Tessa on 1/19/2009
One of my favorites!
I love to do the kid workout as an adult even though I don't have any small children (anymore!) I wish Denise would do a workout with this variety for an adult group. I loved all of the exercises, she does a great job of combining yoga, strength, & cardio moves all in a short 20 minute workout. The kids are fun to watch in the class, but truthfully I think all of the moves are great for grown-ups! Note I rate the first one (with kids only) 5 stars. The second "family" workout is awful! The two workouts on this DVD are like nite and day. Skip the family workout, it doesn't do much for you. - posted by Cheryl on 12/24/2008
Really Great workout
Over all the other workouts, I think this is the best. Her words spur you on, and I actually enjoy doing the exercises with my 6 year old daughter! Keep it up Denise! - posted by Kristen on 12/28/2007
Best Family Workout
It's a great workout! Every family should have it! It is the BEST kids workout there ever was. - posted by A.J. on 9/21/2007

I'm not too crazy about this video. First of all, Ms. Austin gets on my nerves, she's like a bad actress in a cheap B movie. The exercises are boring to me , but I must say my 6 year old daughter seems to like them. She likes me to exercise with her, so I'll keep looking for a video we can both enjoy. - posted by Lori on 4/17/2007

Reading a Time Graph
X
Each workout shows a time graph of the workout sequence, from beginning to end. For example, this workout starts with a 10-minute warm-up and ends with a 10-minute stretch. In between, you'll do aerobics, then toning, then a cooldown.

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.
