Certified instructor description: Denise’s bubbly personality is infused into four different cardio styles — kickboxing, athletic intervals, “retro aerobics” and dance. Each 10-minute segment can be played in any order, so you can easily adapt the workout to your time and style preferences. The kickboxing routines are straight-forward and powerful. The interval section alternates harder/easier intensities (changing the impact, tempo or range of motion). Retro aerobics is non-stop fun — familiar favorites like grapevines, step-touches, ponies and “heel jacks.” The dance section is also varied — from box-step basics to slightly-more-choreographed Latin dance. As always, Denise is enthusiastic and super-motivating. ©2007. DVD has: Programmable chapters, Music only option, Close captions, Region 1.

Denise Austin's Burn Fat Fast Cardio Blast

Great Cardio!
This is a great, pure cardio workout DVD. My two favorites are the kickboxing and the athletic sections. I do the warmup, kickbox, athletic, and cool down. It makes you work up a good sweat and gets your heart rate up! A great intermediate workout! - posted by Jennifer on 3/24/2012
Great workout!!
I have been doing Denise Austin workouts since the 80's when her program was on tv. This is the 3rd workout DVD I have of her's. The other 2 DVD's have incorporated muscle conditioning workouts which I really like. This Cardio blast DVD workout gives me the option of breaking up my routine and just focusing on cardio alone. Each 10 minute workout gives you something different!!! The five star rating above is exactly what I think of this DVD. - posted by Debbie on 2/23/2012
Dynamic and Effective
I’ve had this DVD for a long time, and I really like it. I guess what I like best is that many of the patterns of movement are somewhat different from other DVDs; most of the moves are standard, but somehow they are put together in a different way, which makes it interesting. Denise keeps up a running patter of directions, advice, and encouragement. Sometimes she makes me smile in the midst of it all, as when she exclaims, “We’re burning fat, yes we are!” Often I find that I like some sections of a DVD but not all, so I end up using only part of it. But with this one, I like all four segments and I use them often. In fact, I guess I used the DVD so often that it finally wore out. I went without it for a while, but I missed it so much that I ordered another copy. The last segment, Cardio Dance, is such fun that I often put it at the end of my workout and look forward to it as a treat. I’m intermediate/advanced, and I look for DVDs that keep me working but have an element of interest. - posted by Inez on 4/30/2011
NOT Intermediate
There is nothing even close to intermediate about this workout. It is a beginner workout through and through. In order to keep my heartrate up even close to where I need it, I had to modify almost every single move (to be more difficult). After awhile I wondered why I was even following the DVD. The retro aerobics sections is almost useless. Denise's cueing is the way it always is-she doesn't warn you about what's coming up, and she doesn't give counts so that you can keep track on your own. I even spotted the backup exercises missing moves. I liked the athletic intervals workout, but it's kind of a waste of money to buy this for one ten-minute segment. - posted by Jamie on 3/2/2011
FUN FOR EVERYONE!
Denise is the modern day Pollyanna of the fitness industry! She is always positive, encouraging-adorable in fact and wants to help you achieve your fitness goals! This DVD offers four very diverse but equally effective and fun workouts. Her Kickboxing Workout is well choreographed and easy to follow fun! Her Athletic Interval is great for those who want something other than dance. The Retro Aerobics(appropriately named), is a good easy to follow no-nonsense cardio workout. The Cardio Dance segment needs no description if you have ever done Denise's dance DVD-nothing short of amazing!! All of the routines are 10 minutes in length-who doesn't have 10 minutes to look and feel better? This DVD offers a wide variety for the beginner to the more advanced exerciser-keeps your body guessing. As a registered nurse and a fitness professional, I highly recommend this DVD!! - posted by Laura on 2/1/2011
Burn Fat Fast Cardio Blast
I love this DVD - I have several Pilates discs but needed to kick it up a notch. Love the Retro - brings back memories and it's easy to follow and overall one of my favs already! I also like that I can do as little or as much as I want and have the warm up and cool down as well. - posted by Janice on 9/23/2010
A fun variety of dancing or athletic style aerobics
I usually combine two of the segments and sometimes the cool down when I use this workout as I feel that 10 minutes is not enough of an aerobic workout. The one I have to modify the most for impact is the athletic segment for the jumping and hopping. My favorite is the latin style dance because it is the most fun, but I enjoy all of them. This is good for getting my self warmed up for the day but not what I would consider a very challenging workout even if you do all of them together which I have tried. It is fun to have this DVD in my workout collection for those days when I just want to do pure aerobics. - posted by Bernadette with arthritic knees on 7/19/2010
Fun Intermediate Level Workout!
This is a solid intermediate level workout. The kickboxing, interval and retro segments have some high-impact moves that get your heartrate up. I really enjoy these 3 segments! Denise is not known for being a good cuer, but in this workout, her cueing is okay (few blunders compared to her past workouts.)I disagree with some reviewers here saying that the workout is too easy and geared towards beginners. That is false. The high impact moves here won't suit beginner levels. If you go all out in the high impact moves, you'll really sweat. The easier and low impact segment is the dance aerobics. I'm happy with this workout! - posted by Sienna on 5/23/2010
Great mix of cardio!
I'm the type of person who gets bored really easily and I liked the fact that this dvd had a little bit of everything-kickboxing, my favorite section, athletic drills, retro cardio, which was fun, and the dance aerobic which had a latin theme to the workout. This last segment could of been better, but all in all, the time flew by and by the time who knew, you completed 40 min. of cardio. My glutes are a little sore from this and my hamstrings, so that's a good sign that it did its job. I that Denise, in her future dvds has longer segments of cardio and not shorter segments as her previous ones. She is an excellent instructor who looks great at almost 50! - posted by Vivian on 10/25/2009
Not one of her best
On the positive side, the sports drill and retro aerobics sections are fun to do, and the time flies. Also this tape has a separately chaptered warmup and cooldown. With other Denise tapes, doing the full workout requires cooling down at the end of every segment, then warming up again, which I find very annoying. On the negative side, this is some of Denise's worst cueing. Be prepared to feel completely lost the first couple of times you do the workout. She constantly changes moves without warning, and in this tape she is terrible about saying "last one" and then continuing on while you stand there thinking what the heck? The kickboxing segment is lame and does not increase my heart rate at all. I'm not a good dancer, and Denise's nightmarish cueing makes dance steps more difficult, so I haven't attempted the dance segment. As I said, this tape has both pros and cons, but ultimately it hasn't ended up in my regular rotation. - posted by April on 8/8/2009

Reading a Time Graph
X
Each workout shows a time graph of the workout sequence, from beginning to end. For example, this workout starts with a 10-minute warm-up and ends with a 10-minute stretch. In between, you'll do aerobics, then toning, then a cooldown.

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.
