Certified instructor description: An easy-to-follow walking-style workout that’s energized by Denise’s friendly enthusiasm (“don’t worry, you can do it!”). All the moves are ultra-basic: simple marches, hops, kicks and side-to-sides. Each 15-minute (one mile walk) section features a different technique. “Easy Walk” is a very beginner program, perfect to get you started. “Interval Walk” includes more wide-ranging moves plus faster-paced bursts. “Walk & Tone” incorporates dumbbells to boost intensity as you tone your arms. It all ends with a great stretch. DVD lets you play any or all of the segments. 1 to 3 lb. dumbbells are optional in last segment. ©2005. DVD has: Programmable chapters, Close captions, Region 1.

One of my all-time favorites!
This is a great video. If you give it your best effort you will sweat and you will see results! This one is always in my rotation! - posted by Jennifer on 1/20/2012
Great Video
I have several Denise Austin workout DVD's and I love all of them. You get a good all over body workout without complete exhaustion. You feel GREAT after you have finished. Denise is easy to follow. - posted by Linda on 12/29/2011
OMG A Surprise workout
I bought this to balance out Leslie S. (whom I love). I did all 3 mi and at the end the sweat was pouring off me. I was surprised because the short video didn't leave me with that impression. I like it!!~!! I am already sore from the workouts and I am an intermediate level. Leslie workouts were really hurting my hip sockets and at 65 that is not good. My cholesterol is too hi and bp is too high so it is necessary to workout 6 days p/wk... this will make me very happy because I feel like I got a workout. As always her cuing is way off, but once I got the hang of the workout it didn't matter. I will mute her and put on music. - posted by iris on 10/17/2011
Good design.
I'm not a fan of walking routines simply because I find them boring. This one, however, is better than others I've tried because the segments are short (one mile each) and Denise does vary the moves quickly. Light weights can be added to burn more calories. I especially like her addition of a nice stretch routine that covers most of the muscle groups. As always, Denise is up-beat and encouraging--and with age she has toned down her "chirpiness" somewhat. I'd say this program is definitely on the beginner's level. - posted by Kay on 9/15/2011
Not for me
I got this to add to my library of Leslie Sansone DVD's. After just one use I found this was not for me. The repeated kicking movements caused an old knee injury to flare up. It also seemed like this dvd was not really designed for use in most people's homes. The exercises patterns seemed to require more space than I had available. Last, but not least, I agree with others' comments about the forced-cheerfulness being too much. - posted by Jan on 8/1/2011
Nice alternative to Leslie Sansone
I love Leslie but need some walking variety. This one has more variety in the steps and arm movements than Leslie's 4 basic steps and is very enjoyable. The only issues I have are: 1)you can't hear the music so the next time I do this one I will turn on my own music and I think doing that will really make it fun and cover up Denise's incessant chatter 2) the forced smiles of the other walkers, I love smiling faces but who walks around with a smile on their face all the time? I think her cues are better in this than some of hers but how much do you need for a walking workout. Denise is gorgeous! - posted by SDHR on 6/8/2011
Decent but not great!
This video for me was a decent one. I like the idea of walking videos because when you don't feel like exercising, you can pop a walking video in, do it and not think about steps. I have MANY different videos (150) including some of Leslie Sansones. I like Denise and I have many of her videos but this one was a bit all over the place at times, almost as if she was making it up as she went along, lol! Its ok though, I am not sending it back. I will use it from time to time. - posted by Yvette Rachelle Williams on 5/26/2011
Fantastic Workout
I just had my first time with the workout and I absolutely love it. Such a great sweat. It is fun when she teaches. I love the stretching at the end with the chair. It is wonderful Recommend it to anyone. Even seniors or anyone. You will love it. - posted by Megan on 3/21/2011
A little disappointing.
Having done several of Denise's step aerobics tapes I found this indoor walk DVD not so great. The music and beat were very hard to hear and there was way too much talking!!!!!! Sorry Denise...I'm waiting for your next step aerobics DVD!!!! PS I love Leslie Sansone's walk DVD's - posted by Maria on 3/12/2011

Reading a Time Graph
X
Each workout shows a time graph of the workout sequence, from beginning to end. For example, this workout starts with a 10-minute warm-up and ends with a 10-minute stretch. In between, you'll do aerobics, then toning, then a cooldown.

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.

Programmable chapters
X
At the beginning of your workout, you can select the exact segments you want to play that day. The DVD will then play all those segments in the order you chose.
Region 1
X
This DVD is designed for US and Canadian DVD players. It will NOT play in most foreign country players.
Level
X
Beginner: Just starting out, very overweight or haven't exercised in over six months.

Intermediate: Active in sports, dance or any regular exercise (2 to 3 times per week).

Advanced: Very active in sports or consistently work out four or more times per week.

Aerobics impact
X
Lower Impact: Both feet never leave the ground at the same time. This minimizes stress on your knees.

Higher Impact: Includes movements like jumps, hops and skips. Very high-impact is called plyometrics.

Mixed Impact: This alternates or combines the above styles.

Aerobics choreography
X
Basic: The easiest to follow. It ranges from simple walking-style marches to sports and athletic movements.

Complex: More intricate combinations and patterns. They're ideal for people who like to dance.

Moderate: More interesting than Basic, less dancy than Complex.

Toning emphasis
X
Upper body: Arms, chest and back.

Lower Body: Legs, thighs, hips and buttocks.

Abs: Abdominals (stomach), core and sometimes lower back.

Total body: Tones all three of the above muscle groups.

Floor aerobics & toning
X
Definition: Includes two workout activities. The aerobics segments are fast-paced standing movements like marching, dancing and jumping. These segments require no equipment. The toning sections are slow, controlled movements working against a resistance. These may include Pilates and weight training.

Benefits: The combination of both activities provides a balanced workout. The aerobics burns calories, strengthens your heart and increases stamina. The toning builds lean muscles, increases your metabolism and makes everyday activities easier.
