Certified instructor description: A totally non-intimidating fat-burner that features three different dance techniques. Based on the Oxygen TV show, it combines non-stop movement with an anyone-can-do-it attitude (RuBen, the first season’s 70-pound weight-loss winner, shows you how). The focus is on having fun and discovering your own personal style. You get three distinct segments — disco, Latin and hip hop. Each one is taught by a different instructor. They’re all easy to follow because the instructors always start with the basic steps before adding in the more varied patterns (patterns that are interesting, but never “complex”). Filmed on an energizing, Hollywood-style set. ©2009. DVD has: Chapter menus, Region 1.

Dance Your Ass Off - The Workout

It's OK, but..
This DVD is rather uneven. The disco section was great and Jesus was an excellent instructor. The Latin wasn't bad but didn't have much variety. I think Lisa's section was not good at all. Her queuing was just OK. Lot's of hip swaying with little variety. - posted by Tipi on 2/19/2011
Fun and Energetic!!!
Great video. I like it, a lot!! The instructors are great. I like the idea to join with the winner of "Dance your ass Off". For my opinion this video is easy to follow the steps (they explain one step, practice and then mix all the steps), sometimes, I lost the tempo but I can keep moving (like free dance style). My fitness level is Intermed. The challenge part for me is hip hop dance but right now I feel more comfortable. I'm doing this video for 2 or 3 times a week. Now, I can move much better. I feel happy when I finish. Dance videos are fun. I recommend it 100%. Good job for the creator of this video. - posted by Aila on 2/18/2011
Dance Your Ass Off, the Workout
I think this would be better with a slower instructional segment on doing all the steps. - posted by Pam Yakelis on 2/17/2011
skip it
I didn't really like this workout. It was lame. It really has lapses in the workout as it expects you to improvise dance. It is for very overweight people who want to add their own moves. And I would not label it low impact. It is mixed. - posted by Marilyn on 2/3/2011
WORKS UP A GOOD SWEAT
I love this dance DVD. The moves are easy to follow and before I know it I'm done. Very fun as well. My waistline is going down nicely because of this dance DVD. Love it!!!!!!! - posted by MEGHAN on 2/3/2011
Good starter
I am enjoying this DVD. It is easy to follow, but I don't break a sweat. It allows me to keep on moving on the days that I don't feel like working out too much. - posted by Monica on 10/24/2010
Dance Your Ass off workout
The first video i received was cracked so I had to wait another week to get the video. Once I did get it the video it was nice. I love the disco and hip hop portion it is very fun and upbeat however the latin section is kind of boring and I always skip over it. Overall I get a great workout when I do the routine. - posted by Teka on 10/14/2010
Fun, not challenging
I love Crunch Dance video's because you get a great workout, they're fun & you sweat. There was no sweating involved with this one. Great for a never exercised ever in your life person. Not my favorite dance video...try the other Crunch dance videos before you try this one if you are looking for a real workout... - posted by Kathy on 5/5/2010
Dance your Ass off
I watched the previews on Collage Video before I bought the video. I usually do Cathe video's and hard core Kick boxing video's, but wanted a little change. It wasn't as good as the preview when I did the whole work out. I didn't think it was much of a work out. - posted by Cheryl on 3/20/2010
Pleasant but not very challenging
I've been exercising with College videos for years and especially love the dance routines. I was very interested in this video because of the Latin and disco segments but overall, I was a little disappointed. There are three segments: disco, Latin and hip-hop, each led by a different instructor. They were all pleasant and enthusiastic and they explain and then show each step carefully. I would recommend this video for to beginners to dance because the choregraphy is pretty basic and it's quite easy to follow. For me, it was too easy and a little boring. I didn't like the hip-hop section at all but then, I have to admit, I don't like most hip-hop routines. - posted by Toni on 3/19/2010

Reading a Time Graph
X
Each workout shows a time graph of the workout sequence, from beginning to end. For example, this workout starts with a 10-minute warm-up and ends with a 10-minute stretch. In between, you'll do aerobics, then toning, then a cooldown.

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.
