Certified instructor description: A high-energy, hip-swaying workout with a strong focus on fun (“Let’s party; let’s have a good time!”). It’s all carefully designed to maximize effectiveness. You’ll start with a 13-minute, dance- move tutorial (nothing fancy, just simple dance patterns). Once you know the moves, there’s no need to slow down for step-by-step instruction. Instead, Bethany Lyons makes sure to keep the tempo up and the transitions smooth so you keep burning fat. The last segment is a little different — it integrates simple toning moves into basic dance steps (e.g. “squeeze that booty on the way up,” “let’s try a dancers’ plié”). ©2009. DVD has: Chapter menus, Region 1.

Dance Off the Inches: Dance it Off & Firm Up

Love it!
I can't wait to get off work to do this video again. - posted by Marina on 2/3/2011
Just what I wanted
This was a nice aerobic dance routine. It has 3 dance segments: Rock it, Own it, Tone it. They are about 10 min each. You learn a few moves-put them together, learn a few more-put those together, them TIFTT-then it is time to move to the next dance segment. I thought she put the moves together nicely where they flow right into the next move. It went by really fast and it was fun and easy to catch on! I didn't feel too dorky-the moves were not cheesy or goofy. I really enjoyed this routine and the instructor and her 2 back-up girls were good. She is not overly fake, but she is perky and just cues the next move well. She talks about "partying" a lot-but that was the only fake-ish part. Not any "sexy" talk thank goodness. - posted by Tracy on 11/4/2010
Fun and aerobic
A good way to get your aerobic exercise. I wish there were DVDs like this. I also like "Dance Off...Belly Dance". Dancing is a great way to get your heart going and to loosen your body. I find straight gym-style aerobic workouts tedious and stressful. The instructor gives good cuing and if you flub it a bit, there's no concern. Just keep moving, you'll catch up. - posted by Judy on 3/21/2010
Not For Me
I used this video twice a week for 4 weeks and it was fun, but didn't give me enough of a workout to take off any unwanted inches. I may turn to it later in order to maintain my shape, however, right now it just isn't enough. - posted by Cassandra on 3/9/2010
Fun, Total Body Dance Workout!
I own all the Dance off the Inches workouts, and this one really focuses on athletic type dance moves. I think it is almost impossible not to get a really good workout with your heart rate up on this one. Not a second is wasted, and the moves are unique, but not difficult to learn. The last section focuses on toning, but it is definitely cardio as well. I really like how this is a change from the other themed dance workouts. (Although I love every one of those too!) If you want a good workout that is very well structured and targets EVERY body part, then you will enjoy this one! - posted by Merili on 1/24/2010
Works good for me
I like this one so far. Just starting to get in shape and its easy enough for me. I am sweating during the first part. I would get another workout dvd from this line. i enjoy dancing and music so it is fun for me. - posted by Nancy on 1/7/2010
I liked it!
This is my first Dance Off the Inches, and I really enjoyed it. The choreography was not overly complicated, so I could just enjoy dancing without thinking too hard. It wasn't super intense, but I did feel like I got my heartrate up. The time went by really fast! I liked the main instructor, but the two backup dancers were a little "over the top." I'm anxious to try another DVD from this line. - posted by Kay on 1/4/2010
Pass Please!
I like some of the Dance off the Inches videos and own most of them. This one didn't click with me. The two sections of dance did not get my heart rate up enough to spend the time, most of the moves were boring and the routines were very repetitive. The last segment is a firming workout and that is OK. I've tacked that onto the end of a (better) cardio workout sometimes. The instructor is OK with cuing and friendly. I like the Ballroom Dance off the Inches and Belly Dance Dance off the Inches better and would recommend those instead. They at least get the heart rate up enough for light-day workouts. - posted by Robin K on 1/1/2010
Reading a Time Graph
X
Each workout shows a time graph of the workout sequence, from beginning to end. For example, this workout starts with a 10-minute warm-up and ends with a 10-minute stretch. In between, you'll do aerobics, then toning, then a cooldown.

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.
