Certified instructor description: This proudly-pregnant class — from their first through third trimester, showing their extended bellies — demonstrate a variety of basic yoga poses (along with a few kegel exercises). You’ll learn to use yoga’s mind/body awareness to connect with your body and your growing baby. The poses are pregnancy-modified classics; the attitude is non-intimidating and not-too-serious (e.g. “look at your belly and say hello”). Ends with a gentle meditation. Quiet instrumental music. ©2000. DVD has: Chapter menus.

Crunch: Yoga Mama

This helped keep away lower back pain through my entire pregnancy!
I am a dance instructor, and throughout my third pregnancy I continued to walk regularly, and teach 2-4 dance classes per week. I have large babies (9+ and 10+ lbs) and I am very prone to back pain during pregnancy because of this. I used Yoga Mama during my third pregnancy, and it really helped to keep the back pain away that I had during my first two pregnancies...which of course helped my comfort level all day, and helped me continue to teach dance up until I went into labor. It might not be a strenuous workout, but it DOES help keep your body stretched out and open, and it helps to keep your core strong and in line so you don't have all of the back pain. - posted by Amy on 1/8/2011
I love it
I'm not much of a yogi (I normally find it too boring) but I have to say that I've really enjoyed this video. I've done it twice in the three days since i've gotten it. It feels really good to stretch after a long day at sitting behind a desk. I'm still getting used to my new pregnant body so I might get tired of it later but for now its great. I turn the lights off light some candles and enjoy 40 minutes of stretching. I agree if you are looking for a tough workout this isn't it. But every little bit helps in my book while preggers! - posted by Jillian on 7/21/2010
My Favourite Prenatal Video
I found this video to be excellent for helping me relax and connect with my body during pregnancy and it is easy enough to do that you can follow it without much prior experience with yoga. I like it so much that I do it almost everyday. - posted by Jessica on 8/4/2009
I hate yoga---and loved this!
I had this workout in video form for 2 of my pregnancies and totally loved it! No, it is not a hard work out and if you are a real yogini it's probably not for you BUT if you are getting huge, and are sick of your back hurting it feels great and is so relaxing! i passed on the video to a pregnant friend and will be getting the DVD for others! It's just something nice to do for yourself! - posted by Kat on 12/29/2007
moves too slow
I have been doing Pilates and Yoga for many years and found this workout to move way too slow. Just because I am pregnant doesn't mean I don't want a good workout. You only do a few moves in this video which I found to be very boring and not challenging at all. I don't think I'll be keeping this one. - posted by Kristin on 10/30/2007
too easy
i found this dvd too easy. it's relaxing but not very challenging. - posted by me on 10/5/2007

Feel the difference in minutes
i have never been really into yoga, but this was just what the dr ordered when my belly started getting in the way of doing seated hamstring stretches. the first time i did the workout, i felt a huge difference in my hamstrings, low back, and even across my top/upper back. i didn't even know my upper back had gotten tight till i had finished the workout and had so much tension released. i love it. there have been a couple mornings where i have had such low back pain that it hurts to move(this pregnancy & the last one are boys, where i tend to carry very low, so i get a lot of low back pressure). after doing just the downward dog segment (one of my favorites) the pain is magically gone in less than 5 minutes. my other favorite part is the hip openers--when i do that part at least 3x's per week i notice my knee isn't so high above the opposite foot. if i don't have time for the whole workout, i'll sometimes skip the breathing section and the relaxation at the end and i'm done within 25 minutes. the instructor is great, very calming and non-judgmental(ie. no holier than thou or look how much more i can get into the stretch than you). she mentions just going to the point where you are comfortable and on some of the poses to only go deeper "if there's room for your baby". the cueing is great too, making it easy for me to follow only by her voice instead of watching the tv screen the whole time. she always reminds you to turn your tailbone under or take arch out of your back just as i notice that my body is doing those things. at 27 weeks along, i am surprised i can still have some flexibility and not super tight hamstrings. last night i was able to touch my toes on both feet without any strain. glad i got this workout and that it doesn't take any equipment (just a folded blanket--i use a pillow), definitely a keeper, even after the baby's born. - posted by MG on 11/16/2006
Wonderful!!!
I am going to have to say that this is wonderful!!! I also have to agree, this is not focusing on toning your body, but this is definately good for breathing, relaxing, and stretching your body... And it feels good. I love this instructor, very calm and easy to follow. I would love to use this dvd as much as I can following with aerobics. - posted by Michelle on 1/1/2006
Great Video
My last pregnancy I was huge, my back was always in pain. This video kept my musles stretched and relaxed. Loved it! - posted by Miosy on 10/4/2005
Very relaxing
This is the second pregnancy I've used this video and I love it. The instructor is very good and the yoga moves are easy and soothing. I feel very relaxed and stretched out after using this video. To the reviewer who wanted more toning out of this video, you might want to look into a pilates or light weight lifting tape if you want toning, not a yoga tape. - posted by Pamela on 9/22/2005

Reading a Time Graph
X
Each workout shows a time graph of the workout sequence, from beginning to end. For example, this workout starts with a 10-minute warm-up and ends with a 10-minute stretch. In between, you'll do aerobics, then toning, then a cooldown.

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.
