Certified instructor description: By Jeanette Jenkins, you get a motivating mix of powerful kickboxing and Jamaican-style island dance. It’s a combination that really works — the faster/slower intervals provide an aerobic/anaerobic element while the movement variety keeps you energized (a tough kickboxing segment is followed by an easier dance section). The kickbox routines include jumping jacks and kick-punch combos that engage the entire body as they blast fat (they’re true “combinations,” not just endless jabs or punches). The shorter dance segments have a softer feel, with low-impact step touches and lots of hip action. ©2007. DVD has: Chapter menus, Close captions.

Crunch: Super-Charged Kickbox Party

Fun workout ruined by shouting instructor
My headline says it all. Jeanette is very talented and personable and her workouts are energetic and some are super challenging (Bikini Bootcamp). However, I keep buying or borrowing and *trying* to like them but unfortunately she YELLS all cues as if we were in a huge and crowded gym class. Um, no, you're in my living room and I'd prefer an indoor voice please. - posted by Claire on 8/9/2011
More kickboxing, less dancing
This video is ok. I like the kickboxing workout part of it but too much dance moves interspersed in it. I would have preferred all kickboxing. The dance moves get me confused. Maybe I will like better when I get them down more. If I would have known how much dance was in it I do not think I would have purchased. - posted by cheryl on 6/30/2011
Not bad
Really liked her as an instructor. Liked the kickboxing in this routine, worked a sweat. However, didn't really care for the dancy moves, not that I don't like dancy routines, but just not with kickboxing. Good for those who would like a fun/good routine for less intense days. I definitely want to check out her Bikini Bootcamp DVD! - posted by lxc283 on 5/19/2011
Impressed!!
This is my first workout with Jeanette. I was truly impressed. The routine can be a little difficult to follow at first but once you get the hang of it, you will be fine. I have followed Billy Blanks/Taebo for years so it is refreshing to do something a little different. I will be trying all of her DVDs. - posted by Mildred on 2/25/2011
Confusing Mixture Of Dance and Kickboxing.
Although I find it confusing to follow the mixture dance step and kickboxing, as well as the sequence of her choreography, I did sweat a lot. But not really a fun one. - posted by Ester on 10/30/2010
One of My Absolute Favorite Crunch Workouts!
This workout is fun, unique (this is the first dancing/kickboxing combo I've ever seen) and very uplifting. Jeanette is energetic and clearly having fun with her routine, which is what an instructor should do. I thought the combinations where fun and flowed together really well. That's saying something for a girl who has two left feet! I definitely sweat buckets and felt it in my arms and glutes the next day. The so-called "whooping and hollering" that's standard in Crunch videos didn't bother me a bit and the crazy workout attire only added to the fun and funkiness. I recommend it for those who want to have fun and try something completely different without nit-picking. :) - posted by Lindsey on 8/19/2009
Give it a pass
I agree with the other comments posted about the kickboxing and dance being a combo that just doesn't work. I found the workout couldn't keep my attention and I wasn't breaking much of a sweat unless I started intensifying some of the moves (i.e. doing jumping jacks whenever she put in a dance move ...) This may not be a bad workout for a beginner but I definitely would not recommend for intermediate ... - posted by AB44 on 12/27/2008
Fun mix of dance and kickboxing
I had a great time sweating with this one. Jeanette is a lot of fun and I was able to follow the workout through the first time. I sweated, danced and kickboxed my way to a good cardio burn. Definitely a party in a box workout for me. - posted by Elaine on 10/8/2008
5 star all around
This is a kick box workout. Its not too severe, just right for an intermediate. Theres diversity of the moves, yet you can catch on after seeing it a little bit. There are also dance moves, again, diverse, yet not too complicated. The cueing is very, very good in this one. I have many other dvds to compare this too, the firm and prevention, so that is why I say I'm intermediate. The music is good. The clip on here is exactly the intensity of the whole workout. - posted by barbara on 9/3/2008
Hey, I liked it!
Seems like I'm in the minority but I like this workout. The time goes fast because it is sectioned off well, and to me, the mixture of a few dance moves with kickboxing was new and different. She's a good instructor and the design of the workout, that is, the structure of it is good! Like doing 5-6 different combos for 6 or 10 minutes rather than doing one endlessly. I always wear a heart rate monitor and am in great shape. This workout burns 600-700 calories per hour when I do it, like some of Tae Bo workouts or step, so I do it in my rotation once a week now. - posted by Robin K on 8/1/2008

Reading a Time Graph
X
Each workout shows a time graph of the workout sequence, from beginning to end. For example, this workout starts with a 10-minute warm-up and ends with a 10-minute stretch. In between, you'll do aerobics, then toning, then a cooldown.

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.
