Certified instructor description: A motivating group of energetic exercisers demo three different aerobic techniques: Latin, kickbox and classic cardio (it’s like three workouts in one). Each segment features easy-to-follow moves and perfectly-matched-to-the-style music. You’ll start with not-too-complicated salsa — sexy hip sways, cha chas and mambos. Then it’s empowering/invigorating kickboxing — jabs, punches, shuffles and knee-ups. Finally, you’ll burn calories with traditional favorites like grapevines, step touches and heel-toe. The program ends with a short ab toning segment. Bright, colorful set. ©2006. DVD has: Chapter menus.

Crunch: Fat Burning Blast

Great workout for when you don't have a lot of energy
Perfect tape for when you are tired but still want to workout. The moves are simple, easy to learn and not rigorous. - posted by Paulette on 6/16/2011
Really Enjoyable Workout
I'm 37 and workout 5-6 days per week. I'd class myself as an intermediate exerciser. I have most of the Crunch DVD's and enjoy them. You see results and they are a lot of fun. This workout was no exception. It was fun and moved quickly so you don't get bored. Great variety. Unlike some other posts I loved the kickboxing segment. I do a lot of Tae Bo so what made this workout nice was it was different than all the usual kicks etc. that you get from other Tae/Kickboxing workouts. - posted by Kiesha on 6/14/2011
Loved It!!
I've had this DVD for more than a year now and I wish I had tried it sooner because I missed out on so much fun! The choreography is simple enough to follow and you can add your own flair. You can also tone down the intensity or ramp it up. I worked up a good sweat without that worn out feeling. I will definitely feature this one in my rotations more often. - posted by Bertha on 10/21/2009
Intermediate With Beginner's Choreography
This workout really breaks a sweat and gets the endorphines moving. I feel like I'm taking three classes at the gym. The Latin Grooves section is very easy to follow with the classic mambos and cha-cha-chas. Even the uncoordinated shouldn't have a huge problem. The Cardio Tai Box was my least favorite section due to the lack of kicks (mostly knee-smashes that I changed into kicks for a tougher workout) and incredibly slow pace. But it's perfect for people who've never done kickboxing before since it introduces some of the harder punching techniques evenly. Sweatshop was just like regular low-impact aerobics that keeps you moving without being dancey. There is also a small bonus Ab Section that works your Abs for ten minutes with various crunches. I gave it a 3 out of 5 due to the lack of true kickboxing and felt the music was very repetitive with no "POW." The workout itself is a nice addition to Crunch with the fun background dancers and motivational (without being overly perky) instructor. - posted by Lindsey on 8/24/2009
Fun and effective
I loved this dvd. I am just getting back into working out and wanted a dvd that was fun & effective, but not too complicated. I loved the music and found it easy to count the beats - once I have mastered the routines I will "work it" a bit harder. I was not Bored at all as I have been with some other workouts. It went by so fast and I look forward to it coming around in my rotation - posted by Sarah on 4/7/2009
Too easy
I had a hard time doing some of the dance type moves in this workout. I don't think they were that difficult and she does cue well, but I found myself getting left behind at times. I tend to do more athletic type workouts and although the dance stuff was fun to try I didn't feel like I got a very good workout. The power blasts were good, but other than that my heart rate did not get very high. I'll stick to the workouts that have a more challenging cardio routine from now on. - posted by Laurie on 3/12/2009
Fun Combination of Moves
Crunch videos are fun because they're easy to follow and offer low-impact options. This workout has a combination of three types of moves (Latin, kickbox, and regular aerobics). Lizbeth Garcia is a decent instructor and her cueing is excellent. You'll have fun and won't notice the time flying by! - posted by Hilarie on 2/4/2009
Low Impact Fun!
I agree it's a solid intermediate. I worked up a good sweat and loved how the workouts changed before I had a chance to get bored. Lizabeth is a good lead and I'm one of those who actually enjoys the Crunch exercisers. If you're easily bored with longer routines, you may enjoy this one! - posted by Elaine on 8/16/2008
enjoyable and effective!
First of all, I think this should be rated a solid 'intermediate'. I worked up quite a sweat, and I am a fit, regular exerciser! Many of the patterns and movements are reminiscent of an old-style low-impact aerobics class: in the BEST possible WAY! The choreography is ultra-basic, unlike many DVD's with a DANCE focus: and thus it is easy to get the heart rate up into a good aerobic zone and keep it there. I loved the music and the overall energy. I especially like the one-minute cardio anaerobic bursts (not too hard, but a good challenge). The cueing is ultra-precise. If you are in any way dance-challenged, buy this DVD: your confidence will be restored immediately! - posted by Bertha on 7/27/2008
A fun mix that's doable!
Now I didn't really work up a sweat while doing this workout so it's not super challenging but it's lots of fun and I could actually follow the dance moves - a first for me, lol. The instructor cues well, speaks clearly and doesn't have the immature baby-doll kind of voice that some other Crunch instructors have, and why frankly I tend to avoid Crunch workouts. This is a keeper for me! - posted by Claire on 5/24/2008

Reading a Time Graph
X
Each workout shows a time graph of the workout sequence, from beginning to end. For example, this workout starts with a 10-minute warm-up and ends with a 10-minute stretch. In between, you'll do aerobics, then toning, then a cooldown.

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.

Chapter menus
X
You can play only the individual workout segments you want by picking them off a chapter menu (one at a time).
Level
X
Beginner: Just starting out, very overweight or haven't exercised in over six months.

Intermediate: Active in sports, dance or any regular exercise (2 to 3 times per week).

Advanced: Very active in sports or consistently work out four or more times per week.

Aerobics impact
X
Lower Impact: Both feet never leave the ground at the same time. This minimizes stress on your knees.

Higher Impact: Includes movements like jumps, hops and skips. Very high-impact is called plyometrics.

Mixed Impact: This alternates or combines the above styles.

Aerobics choreography
X
Basic: The easiest to follow. It ranges from simple walking-style marches to sports and athletic movements.

Complex: More intricate combinations and patterns. They're ideal for people who like to dance.

Moderate: More interesting than Basic, less dancy than Complex.

Toning emphasis
X
Upper body: Arms, chest and back.

Lower Body: Legs, thighs, hips and buttocks.

Abs: Abdominals (stomach), core and sometimes lower back.

Total body: Tones all three of the above muscle groups.

Floor aerobics & toning
X
Definition: Includes two workout activities. The aerobics segments are fast-paced standing movements like marching, dancing and jumping. These segments require no equipment. The toning sections are slow, controlled movements working against a resistance. These may include Pilates and weight training.

Benefits: The combination of both activities provides a balanced workout. The aerobics burns calories, strengthens your heart and increases stamina. The toning builds lean muscles, increases your metabolism and makes everyday activities easier.
