Certified instructor description: Six easy-to-follow dance combos led by a very high-energy instructor. This hip shakin’ cardio party is sure to have you burning fat and having fun. Even the “rhythmically challenged” can do this workout — the steps are taught at half-tempo, linked together and finally blended into full sequence. The moves range from “body rolls” and “salt shakers” to “fast and funky” and sultry “dance diva” patterns (with a Latin flair). For added variety, each segment also has a complementary upper-body movement (e.g. “Popeye arms,” “Chiquita banana arms”). ©2005. DVD has: Chapter menus.

Crunch: Cardio Dance Blast!

too easy and kind of boring
Ok - I'll admit it, I bought this because it was on sale and I wanted something new to bring into my usual video line up. I thought this would be a fun change of pace - and it is - but I don't find it to be much of a workout, even for my 'I really don't feel like working out today so I'll do something easy'. And I would even be ok with that if the dance moves were more fun, but I just don't find them to enjoyable. - posted by Cheryl on 5/1/2012
crunch cardio dance blast
i am fifty and had a hard time with the moves in this video. I gave it to my 23 year old daughter and she loves it. - posted by Audrey on 4/19/2012
The choreography gets in the way
I hate the prospect of exercising. I start every workout video promising myself that I can quit when I get to 20 minutes. The trick is to choose videos that pick me up and sweep me along so that by the time I hit the 20-minute mark, I'm having too much fun to quit. Every video that succeeds in doing that has two elements: interesting music, and choreography that works with the flow of energy, that amplifies the momentum. This video has neither of those elements. I can't think of a good word to describe the choreography; I just call it counter-intuitive. It doesn't go where your moving body wants to go, it interrupts and redirects the energy, it sacrifices momentum to choreographic innovation for the sake of innovation. The music is not energizing enough to compensate for that constant drain. I couldn't even make it to the 20-minute mark with this one. It's going to Goodwill; I'm sure it will find a home where it will be appreciated. - posted by Rose on 2/22/2012
Fun teacher/workout
I like the instructor & the dance workout. I like how the workout is in segments. You can do the whole workout at once or in parts throughout the day. - posted by Holly on 12/11/2011
Quickly Became My Favorite!
I love this video. It's a lot of fun and before you know it you are cooling off. She is very good at letting you know what is coming up. I am the queen of videos and this is by far my favorite right now. - posted by Grace on 9/16/2011
Great for starting out!
I bought this DVD back when I was 50 lbs overweight and had some half-baked idea of becoming healthy, and I'm SO glad I did. It's a lot of fun, not too hard, and Marie is very engaging. I've moved on to more challenging workouts since, but this is the first workout DVD I ever did that made exercising fun. - posted by Em on 6/14/2011
No Cardio But Fun
I've been using this tape for years but it does NOT increase my heart rate but I like the dance moves; they're fun! - posted by Stacey on 3/9/2011
Great
I really like the workout. I am taking time to learn it as some of my joints don't work like they used to. Once I know all the steps it will be super. I modify steps I am unable to do. It works quite well for me! I definitely need the cardio and I love to dance. - posted by Karen Napper on 2/3/2011
Fun workout
I loved this workout! It was just what I was looking for. I liked the instructor and all the dance in it. I needed something low impact that was fun and this was it. - posted by Marilyn on 2/3/2011
My Favorite Crunch Dance Workout
I thought this was a lot of fun. Sometimes the Crunch workouts seem very pretentious but I didn't feel that way with this one. I thought the instructor cued well the moves were simple but challenging enough to keep you interested. I will definitely try this one again. - posted by Missy on 3/11/2010

Reading a Time Graph
X
Each workout shows a time graph of the workout sequence, from beginning to end. For example, this workout starts with a 10-minute warm-up and ends with a 10-minute stretch. In between, you'll do aerobics, then toning, then a cooldown.

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.
