Certified instructor description: An add-on choreography blast: six creative step combos led by a very skilled instructor. It's non-stop, multi-directional motion — 31 exhilarating minutes of stepping, twirling and having fun. Sure, it's both physically and mentally challenging, but Christi's cuing makes it do-able. She begins with a base pattern, then smoothly layers in another move (often offering optional intensity or complexity boosters along the way). As soon as you've mastered one combination, you're on to the next. By the end, you're joyfully flying through all six sequences. Back row exercisers show slightly easier modifications. High-energy vocal music. DVD includes a tutorial plus two 12-minute bonus workouts (yoga and Pilates). ©2011. DVD has: Wide screen.

Christi Taylor's Totally Cool Step 2

Typical Christi - Outstanding
Like all Christi's videos, this was a great workout. It's taught in a quicker fashion but it's very do-able. Come back Christi, come back. I so miss your outstanding queing, great music and fun, friendly, engaging personality. - posted by LaVerne on 4/27/2012
Short but Fun
This is typical Christi and lots of fun. No, she doesn't spend huge amounts of time breaking down each move, but she knows how to cue. I found it provided just enough challenge to prevent boredom, but not so much to make you frustrated. If only it were longer, I'd have given it five stars. - posted by Elaine on 3/22/2012
So fun!
I have been a video-exerciser / step-aerobics fan for many years. I find myself easily annoyed by choreography that seems unnecessarily confusing. Cathe, for example, is not for me. That being said, I LOVED THIS WORKOUT! I've done it four times and can do it all the way through - not great or perfect, but it is still a whole lot of fun! It is also a solid workout. The ladies in the back doing the easier section (the modifiers) are a terrific help. I had her "Solid Gold Step" for a long time and wish I could re-order it also. - posted by Rhonda on 3/22/2012
Christi's Back and Better Than Ever
A great instructor and a great workout. Christi is a shining star in the exercise-DVD world. This workout is interesting, challenging, and fun, and Christi's sunny personality makes it a joy to spend time with her while working out. - posted by Karen on 3/21/2012
Great Step Workout!
I am always looking for a good step workout--they are getting harder and harder to come by. I am an advanced stepper (Amy Bento, Seasun, Cathe), and although I did not find this workout to be very intense, it was fun and fast-paced. Christi doesn't spend too much time breaking it down, which I like, and for someone whose done step for years, the choreography is not too difficult (was able to get it first time around--didn't view the tutorial moves, but this is available which is always a nice feature). My only regret is that it's not longer, but if you need something quick, it delivers. - posted by Carrie on 3/16/2012
Another great dvd by Christi
It took a LONG time for Christi to come out with Totally Cool Step 2 but it was worth the wait. I enjoy this one, and I think Christi does a great job of finding the perfect balance between being complex but do-able, yet not too easy and therefore boring. The only minor complaint I would give is that the music is just so-so. Not horrible, but not that great either. - posted by Sandy on 2/18/2012
Fun, complex workout
Cristi is my favorite cardio instructor, so I was thrilled to see a new one. This is another fun, dancy workout, with lots of tricky choreography. Now, I've only done this one once (I came down with a wicked cold right after I got it), so I may not have reached the point of full fun yet, but a few things aren't quite as good as I'd hoped they would be: 1) This workout is short for Christy - 40 minutes in all, not 45 or 60. 2) The music is not as catchy as in her older workouts. I love the first Totally Cool Step and - maybe it's that I'm older and just don't recognize the songs in this one - but the music seems bland. 3) I'm used to Christi's choreography and usually catch on quite quickly, but she really just progresses from the basic move through the complex without ANY time to get acclimated. I will definitely be following the modifiers for a while with this one. Not a bad thing - it will take much longer to get bored. Come to think of it, this lack of practicing time within combos probably accounts for the shorter duration of the workout. Anyway, this is still a great, fun, workout for people who aren't afraid of complex choreography. - posted by Sara on 2/16/2012
Will be fun, once I learn the choreography
I bought this DVD because I own Christi's Fit to Dance, which is a fun step/toning combo. I do a step workout once a week in my four workout rotation and wanted a pure cardio one. I consider myself pretty experienced with step aerobics but even so I find the choreography challenging. I've done it three times and have yet to master all of the routines as Christi does them. This hasn't prevented me from using it --I've been following the modifiers in the back (my eyes are glued on the woman on the back right who is easy to follow ). The modification is not really a lower impact version but rather a simpler choreography. The move master segment, which presents slower version of the steps, is a good idea in theory but doesn't work for me since the verbal cues are lacking--Christi just counts 1 to 8. I need the "reverse straddle" "left basic" etc. cues to know what's coming next. Christ's tendency to sing the cues (which some people found annoying in the FTD video) is less pronounced here. I don't mind the difficult choreography because it prevents me from being bored and I think with another 3 tries, I'll have it. The moves are fun and more "dancey" than straight-up step. But if you're new to step, this is not for you. - posted by Sue on 2/8/2012
I LOVE this video!
I've been an at-home exerciser for about 15 years, and I always look forward to Christi Taylor's new videos. (I own all of them!) This one is no exception. "Newbies" should be aware that the moves in this video are complicated if you do the workout just like Christi! There are a lot of direction changes and "fancy footwork" HOWEVER, Christi doesn't leave her clients to fend for themselves! I found it helpful to view/perform the Movemaster segment before working out, then I'd do the video while watching the "modifiers" in the back row doing the simpler moves. In no time at all (about 3 uses) I was doing most of the more complicated moves with ease and getting a great workout. I also enjoy the yoga segment--The instructor is likeable, and the workout feels awesome after doing the step routine. I've had the video for about a month now and do it about 2 to 3 times a week, and the moves come naturally now. If you are somewhat coordinated and enjoy a high-energy workout, I would definitely recommend this video. - posted by Deb on 1/26/2012
Complicated at first, but worth it!
Again, Christi comes up with such fun routines. This dvd takes more time to learn, but the effort is always worth it because it makes the workout more fun. It kicks butt and delivers just about the perfect session. I have never been disappointed with her workouts! - posted by Theresa on 1/26/2012

Reading a Time Graph
X
Each workout shows a time graph of the workout sequence, from beginning to end. For example, this workout starts with a 10-minute warm-up and ends with a 10-minute stretch. In between, you'll do aerobics, then toning, then a cooldown.

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.
