Certified instructor description: Blends yoga-inspired movements into an all-seated exercise program. Like classic yoga, it’s designed to increase flexibility, reduce stress and improve balance. You’ll certainly recognize traditional yoga poses like sun salutations, downward dog and warrior. However, they’ve all been carefully modified to be done while sitting down (e.g. maintaining a "warrior pose" hand and arm position while your buttocks remain in the chair). Besides the yoga, Jodi Stolove includes lots of innovative, non-yoga stretch movements like “snow angels” and “spinal twists.” The program ends with short self-massage and guided relaxation segments. Calm, gentle cuing by a experienced seniors’ workout instructor. ©2002.

Chair Dancing: Chair Yoga

Chair Yoga
Great stretch video. Good workout. - posted by Antoinette on 1/19/2012
Great yoga workout
I'm recovering from foot surgery and I missed not being able to get down on the floor to do my yoga routine. Jodi provides all my favorite poses and a good relaxation and massage routine. I highly recommend this DVD! - posted by Veronica on 8/22/2011
Love all Jodi's workouts
I have arthritis, knee replacement, and get Synvisc in the other knee which needs replacing. I can follow all her moves and am extremely happy with Yoga and chair dancing series. - posted by sarge on 7/31/2011
Waking Up
These gentle chair yoga stretches wake up sleepy muscles and tendons from head to toe. A relaxing and feel good pace any time day or evening for this 61 year old with tender feet. - posted by Jen on 7/21/2011
Good DVD
Helpful for someone in a wheelchair! Good instructor! - posted by KAREN on 7/21/2011
Good
I bought this workout mostly so I could get some of my coworkers out of their cubes and do something good for them; it's definitely a nice stretch. The cuing is a little late, however, and we all have to keep looking at the screen from a downward position to see what we're supposed to be doing. I guess it will just take practice, but it's a good introduction to yoga/exercise for people who are sedentary. Me and my coworkers look forward to it every Wednesday! Thanks! - posted by Jennifer on 6/30/2011
too quick
I purchased this video because of the 5 star reviews. The translation from standard poses to chair poses is very well done, but the pacing should be much slower. - posted by JoAnn on 4/7/2011
chair yoga

chair yoga
Ive been doing this video with a couple of senior ladies that have balance problems. They love the video and feel like it helps them feel more relaxed and to deal with stress. It is great for stretching and mobility. Works both upper and lower body from sitting position. I found it very relaxing and even though I am used to higher levels of Yoga, it does work the muscles and challenge the brain to work with the body. Great video for any one that needs to exercise from a chair! - posted by nancy on 7/22/2010

Reading a Time Graph
X
Each workout shows a time graph of the workout sequence, from beginning to end. For example, this workout starts with a 10-minute warm-up and ends with a 10-minute stretch. In between, you'll do aerobics, then toning, then a cooldown.

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.
