Certified instructor description: A truly high-intensity program that includes both step and floor aerobics. Nothing fancy or complicated, this cardio challenge is simply fast-paced and non-stop (even Cathe admits she’s breathing hard). The step segment features constantly-changing choreography blocks — you’ll do the combo just once and then move on. The moves range from “bow & arrow” and “reverse ricochets” to “power scissors” and “turn jumps.” The floor section is pure high-impact fun — bunny hops, air jacks, “leap frogs” and “jump ropes” (in alternating faster/slower intervals). As always, Cathe’s form is perfect; she’s both encouraging and demanding (“you can do anything four more times!”). ©2010. DVD has: Wide screen.

Cathe Friedrich's Intensity

Cathe
I like this workout, lots of variety, it goes fast. It's fun, you don't dread doing it, but feels like you have really worked. Lots of options in the premixes when time is short. I'll use this one often. - posted by Pam on 10/30/2011
Versatile and intense workout
I just finished this workout. It offers you intense step + a Hiit afterwards if you still have energy. This is no cake walk. Depending on your day you can do all + the quick bootcamp at the end or break it up. I like to break it all up and add these workouts onto the end of a weight training day. I have many dvd's and cathe's intensity is always near the top of the pile cos it gets used so much. Love it! - posted by cathefan on 8/29/2011
Wow! This is a nonstop workout!
This is the third video I've bought by Cathe and for me the most intense. I'm completely drenched by the end! I love this video and I know I'm getting an intense workout. I also like that there is an added weight segment. I don't like to do just aerobics so even though it doesn't go through all the muscle groups I feel like it's pretty well-rounded. I'm 54 years old and can't jump NEARLY as high as some of the young women in the video, and am gasping for breath after a couple of the more intense moves, but I just love it! - posted by Eileen on 8/12/2011
Tough
I think this is Cathe's hardest cardio workout yet. The moves were similar to some of her other workouts but it was so intense I would not have wanted to learn new moves. I absolutely loved it. I have tried just about every instructor out there and no one compares to Cathe. I have yet to be disappointed in any of her dvd's. - posted by Wendy on 6/29/2011
So fun and tough!!!
I love this DVD. It took a few times to really learn the steps, but now I do it without even watching the tv - I just listen for what's next and concentrate on doing it. This is my first Cathe DVD. I chose this one to start because I was afraid of her advanced choreography. This was just right. I was introduced to her style, her moves and her cuing and I was able to follow without too much trouble. I am in pretty good shape and this DVD gives me a great workout every time I do it. I often do only the step portion because after that 30 minutes, I'm beat!! I also like the HIIT section. I've never tried the boot camp portion of it because I'm lifting at the gym. I'm using this DVD on my alternate lifting days. I can't wait to try another one of her DVDs! I really love the music - it's so energizing. The only thing I would complain about is that I want to crank it louder but it seems to top out at a slightly lower volume than I usually do my videos to (I like it loud). Otherwise, this is my current favorite!!! - posted by Tonya on 6/29/2011
Not My Favorite
I was excited to try this workout for the first time and I just couldn't get into it. The music is decent in the beginning, but when it gets to the Pink Floyd remix and the Playing My Guitar song, that was really annoying. The moves were nothing new, if you've done Imax 2 or 3, and most of Cathe's other step workouts, you've seen 'em before. The hi/lo Hiit segments were OK, but you still can't beat the Shock Cardio Hiit DVD for that kind of training. Also, this was part of Cathe's four new DVD's filmed after she held a casting call for a "Cathelete" to be featured in those workouts. Two actually made the cut and I found it very, very ironic that the two who made the cut just happened to be professional fitness models who had done contests in the past. I don't know about everyone else, but I was hoping to see someone featured in the workout who looked like an at home video exerciser, not a fitness competitor who went on a special shred diet before filming. - posted by Amanda on 6/14/2011
Boring
I hate this video. I have tried it several times in hope of liking it, but the step portion has got to be one of her most boring. I put into my rotation and now probably will sell it. The low impact section is a joke - more like a cooldown. I do know that Cathe's choreography and cueing to be boring. With every video her workouts require too much space. I never I would ever find a step instructor as much fun as Cathe. But I am Christi Taylor convert. Sorry, Cathe, you are going overboard with the plyos and tuck jumps and your music is horrible. - posted by Jennifer on 5/20/2011

This video is more than what I expected. I never knew that Step Aerobics has gone to this level! I have done Taebo, HipHop Abs, Zumba, etc... and this is even more challenging than I thought it would have been. I have to watch it a few more times in order to catch onto the choreography (I tripped over myself a couple of times trying to keep up with the different moves). However, its a great video, offers the challenge that I needed and wanted by incorporating high impact aerobics and weights. I love it !! - posted by Nikki on 5/17/2011
Had to get in to it, but well worth persevering!
I didn´t like the DVD at first, but after the 3rd time can say I love it! I do the step routine alone for a fantastic calorie burning workout in about 35 minutes. I love this dvd because it is not ´dancey´ and includes lots of familiar Cathe moves. Yes, there are lots of power 7/15s and jumping, but it is called Intensity for a reason! Also the H.I.I.Ts (hi & low) are fab and the bootcamp is fab too. I sometimes do just the 2 H.I.I.T workouts (about 25 mins in total) or I do the H.I.I.Ts and the bootcamp. Whatever you choose to do, there is a lot of variety! Have to say though, the country song in the Hi H.I.I.T is very annoying, what were they on when they chose that song! ;-) - posted by Mandy - Spain on 5/7/2011
got hurt with this one
a few weeks ago I did this DVD and sprained both knees doing the "bunny hops" of the high impact Hiit section. I'm pretty afraid to do this one again in the future. I've worked over a year to get to an advanced level of exercise and now I have to back off for a while...I've been wearing a knee brace off and on and icing my knees but they still hurt if I stand too long or walk a lot. It's a pretty intense cardio workout and will get your heart rate up (that's why not 1 star) but please be very careful with your knees people! I wish Cathe would deliver the cardio but back off the tuck jumps and certain plyo moves (like the bunny hops) that can be so hard on the joints. I've heard she's coming out with a low impact workout soon but it sounds like you have to buy special gliding discs. I also wish her dvd's didn't require so much equipment...which was why I was excited about this one. Sigh. I do like her other Hiit workout and the Cardio Core Circuit though. - posted by colleen on 4/26/2011

Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.
