Certified instructor description: Non-stop kickbox aerobics followed by dumbbell weight-training. You'll burn fat with the cardio, then sculpt your body with the muscle toning. The first segment is classic Tae Bo -- from punches and kicks to "speed bags" and "skip kicks." Billy's mix of high reps and smooth transitions makes it both easy to learn and effective. The second segment mixes traditional toning exercises with Tae Bo-style body-sculpting (e.g. controlled punches holding a dumbbell). This section also features a fast pace and lots of reps. The workout ends with an "extreme" series of cardio bursts (high-intensity moves like jumping jacks). DVD includes a 14-minute Tae Bo tutorial. Requires 2 to 5 lb. dumbbells. ©2011. DVD has: Wide screen.

Billy Blanks' Tae Bo Ripped Extreme

Tae Bo Ripped Extreme
Transaction was great, fast delivery. DVD is not what I was thinking it would be. I prefer more emphasis on a lower body workout. I have several Tae Bo tapes and very much like Billy Blanks workouts but not this one quite as much. - posted by Monica Atneosen on 4/19/2012
Tough!
I have many TaeBo videos, and this one is absolutely one of the more challenging ones. I wear weighted gloves throughout the workout, and I am pretty much out of breath the majority of the time. The end has a portion that incorporates hand weights, and it is also very challenging. It is high paced, and I find Billy to be very motivating. There is a woman in the video who starts to have a tough time towards the end of the workout - the other girls and Billy encourage her to stay strong and to finish. I enjoyed the honesty! Workouts are often filled with people who look perfect and don't seem the least bit challenged. I can relate to her! I am already seeing results in my arms from this workout. Love it. - posted by Jennifer on 3/29/2012
It takes you the to the next level....
I've been a Taebo fan for years and I loved this DVD. It was very challenging. It was fast paced and the next day I "KNEW" I had worked out! I would recommend it for anyone has done the basic Taebo exercise and want to step it up a notch. - posted by LaShun on 3/9/2012
Loved the energy and combinations
I was sweating after 10 minutes and the time seemed to fly by. Great break down of the moves and again, lots of energy. - posted by Kellye on 3/1/2012
Best workout EVER!
I have to say this is by FAR the best workout Ive ever done.... It is crazy intense, and I have NEVER sweat so much in my life. If you really get into it, and do it with some "power" behind it, there is no way you wont get amazing results. I am somewhat new to Billy Blanks workout, I only own about 4 of them, and I love all of them. But this one has to be my new favorite. I don't know why people complain about the counting, as I am pretty sure they do that in every one of his videos... It does not bother me at all, I just count with them. Never in my life have I like cardio of any kind. Ive always tried to avoid it. But I actually look forward to doing these DVD's, and I know for a fact I just got a overall amazing workout. I HIGHLY recommend this DVD - posted by JB on 2/16/2012
Definitely isn't one of his best
I have several of his old VHS Tae Bo tapes and LOVE THEM. So when I saw this one and the positive reviews I was excited to receive it. I did the DVD once and was so disappointed that I won't be doing it again. I didn't work up a sweat and didn't feel challenged at all. This is probably for a beginner, not an intermediate or advanced exerciser. Definitely disappointed. - posted by Allysia on 2/15/2012
Too fast
I am a 50 year old lifelong exerciser and this tape was way to fast for me. I ended up sending it back. I did like the way Billie keeps you motivated to try. - posted by Kkathy on 2/9/2012
Terrific workout!
If you want a cardio and strength training all in one workout this is the DVD for you! One of Billy's best! - posted by Maz on 1/19/2012
Very disappointed
I would rate myself as a mid-level workout person. I did not like this workout at all. I found the constant counting to be extremely annoying and distracting. It is a very fast paced workout and perhaps maybe too fast for me. But the constant counting made the experience unpleasant and disappointing to say the least. To maintain focus, attempt to do the moves and keep up the pace is more than anyone should have to handle while leaning a new routine. I found the counting extremely distracting and annoying. This was honestly more than I wanted to handle while trying to learn a new exercise. I wished I could be more positive about it. - posted by mary on 1/18/2012
Great workout
This DVD is similar to his other Taebo works with additional weights added in. I liked the emphasis on the upper body-its a tough one, and there is a lot of abdominal work throughout the workout. He is extremely motivating and it is better cued than some of his other workouts. It is a great addition to any collection. - posted by Debbie on 1/13/2012

Reading a Time Graph
X
Each workout shows a time graph of the workout sequence, from beginning to end. For example, this workout starts with a 10-minute warm-up and ends with a 10-minute stretch. In between, you'll do aerobics, then toning, then a cooldown.

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.

Wide screen
X
The program fully fills a wide-screen television screen. Note: These videos will display black bars at the top and bottom on a traditional 4 x 3 ratio TV screen.
Level
X
Beginner: Just starting out, very overweight or haven't exercised in over six months.

Intermediate: Active in sports, dance or any regular exercise (2 to 3 times per week).

Advanced: Very active in sports or consistently work out four or more times per week.

Aerobics impact
X
Lower Impact: Both feet never leave the ground at the same time. This minimizes stress on your knees.

Higher Impact: Includes movements like jumps, hops and skips. Very high-impact is called plyometrics.

Mixed Impact: This alternates or combines the above styles.

Aerobics choreography
X
Basic: The easiest to follow. It ranges from simple walking-style marches to sports and athletic movements.

Complex: More intricate combinations and patterns. They're ideal for people who like to dance.

Moderate: More interesting than Basic, less dancy than Complex.

Toning emphasis
X
Upper body: Arms, chest and back.

Lower Body: Legs, thighs, hips and buttocks.

Abs: Abdominals (stomach), core and sometimes lower back.

Total body: Tones all three of the above muscle groups.

Floor aerobics & toning
X
Definition: Includes two workout activities. The aerobics segments are fast-paced standing movements like marching, dancing and jumping. These segments require no equipment. The toning sections are slow, controlled movements working against a resistance. These may include Pilates and weight training.

Benefits: The combination of both activities provides a balanced workout. The aerobics burns calories, strengthens your heart and increases stamina. The toning builds lean muscles, increases your metabolism and makes everyday activities easier.
