Certified instructor description: You’ll develop a strong, lean dancers’ body with this great introduction to ballet toning. It’s fluid and graceful with no intimidating terminology and no fancy equipment. You’ll begin with classic standing barrework that’s performed without a ballet barre (which also has the advantage of helping you focus on balance). Done at varying tempos, these flowing, full-range-of-motion routines range from pliés to “squish the bug.” Then, it’s a solid Pilates matwork series that continues the emphasis on elegance and fluidity. Jody’s cuing is friendly but “disciplined” — you’ll know she’s serious about you getting a good workout. ©2003. DVD has: Chapter menus.

Balletone

Smooth, easy flowing
This is a good workout for lighter days. I especially like the floor toning that works the abs and legs. - posted by Nancy on 10/28/2011
Good, Gentle Workout
I started doing ballet style workouts due to weak knees and after a neck injury that really limits my mobility. This workout is a good one for me - it's gentle, yet I really feel it the next day in my legs. The floor work really targets the muscles well, without over-doing it. I think it is appropriately labeled beginner/intermediate. A good choice for a gentle workout. - posted by Kathy on 9/1/2011
Reminds me of the past
I was a dancer a very long time ago. Lived and breathed ballet and had class everyday of the week. It was a challenge to do the video at first because my muscles weren't used to working that way. They needed to be reminded. I think that I would have liked a little more floor/barre work instead of the pilates section. I'll probably try the Center Moves DVD to get my floor work fix. - posted by Melissa on 7/14/2011
Energizing
I do aerobics and weight resistance four days a week and really enjoyed incorporating this workout. It was a better workout than I was expecting and I felt great after I was finished! - posted by Jan on 5/26/2011
lots of fun :-)
Good work out as well as a lot of fun. Enjoy this one very much. - posted by kay on 12/21/2010
Perfect ballet toning video
I loved this video. It is very ballet like and easy to follow. Someone that has never taken ballet before can follow this DVD. At the same time, you're getting a great toning workout. The moves are done at the right pace so that you feel the full benefits of each exercise. Jody is also a great instructor. She even tells you how your feet should be planted on the floor. The length of the video is perfect. There isn't any cardio, but I have enough time after the tape is over to do a cardio DVD if I want to. I would highly recommend this video. - posted by Kirsten on 12/2/2010

Nixon was president the last time I took a ballet lesson, so this workout is challenging and fun. - posted by CJ on 10/14/2010
Feel Good Fitness
I have two other Balletone workouts and purchased this one because I really enjoy the ballet-based exercises and cardio. This video is non-stop stretching and fitness exercises that really make you feel great after you're done. No cardio in this video but it still is invigorating. - posted by Mary on 7/9/2010
Dancer's Legs
Tones without adding bulk. I really enjoy the ballet-style exercise, as well as the intense floor work and stretch too. The plies and leg lifts provide a welcome change from my usual advanced lunch-squat workouts. I use ankle weights to up the intensity a bit. - posted by Nancy on 6/24/2010
Really Good
Wonderful toning for the body. It really does make you feel like a dancer. - posted by Saundra on 2/19/2008

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.
