Certified instructor description: It’s non-stop action with great transitions — you’ll smoothly flow from one combo to the next. Not for beginners, this explosive, rapid-fire choreography never lets up (Amy “cues as she goes,” no slowing down to demo a move). Moving way beyond static punches and kicks, Amy’s combos are wide-ranging and unusually varied (from spins and directional changes to plyo-jumps and traveling lunges). You also get an aerobic/anaerobic element; each series includes an extra-intense “power burst.” It all ends with ab sculpting. Requires an X-ertube and a step (only for the toning). Also includes some “pre-mixed” workout options. ©2006. DVD has: 7 premixes (37 to 57-min. alternate workouts), Chapter menus.

Amy Bento's Kickbox Xtreme

Good Workout
It's not my favorite Amy Bento video but it's pretty good. I certainly worked up a sweat. She keeps you moving the whole time. I found doing the whole routine was better than some of her pre-mixed shorter routines. - posted by Renee on 12/30/2011
Fun Workout
I like this workout when I have a less intense workout planned. It's not super hard, but I think it's good to have variety. - posted by Bryanna on 4/21/2011
Great Workout
I really like this one. I like Kickbox Surge better, but this one still makes me work and sweat. Amy is a lot of fun to watch and follow, but her cuing takes some getting used to. The reason I like Kickbox Surge better is because it seems harder. Besides that, this is a close second. - posted by Brittany W. on 2/27/2011
Awesome
This kickboxing workout is awesome. I love when I can do a long workout and at the end I can't believe over an hour has passed. The entire workout I feel strong and totally focused on the routines, music rocks. Thank you Amy! - posted by Heather on 1/27/2011
Very Pleased!
This is my first Amy Bento workout and I was pleasantly surprised. I loved the nonstop combos and got a great sweat. Looking forward to trying some of her other workouts. - posted by Candace on 9/19/2010
Great, solid workout
This is a great, sweat-provoking workout. Interval drills add a great level of complexity. My only complaint is that her timing is not great nor well sequenced to the music. You probably get used to it after a few sessions, however. - posted by Lisa on 5/27/2010
Best workout ever
I just adore this workout. I agree with the other post that said she keeps coming back to this one. If you don't have it, get it! - posted by Peggy on 5/5/2010
Love it!
I am an Amy fan and have several of her other kickboxing-oriented DVDs, and this one is my new favorite. I haven't done all of the premixes yet, and I haven't made it all the way through the entire workout. But I am always a sweaty but happy girl afterward. The cardio is awesome, the kickboxing combos are challenging and great, and of course, the music is good too. I highly recommend this one! - posted by Christine on 4/15/2010
AWESOME!
this DVD is perfect for anyone who has the time to devote to their training and wants to get a serious workout. Amy's cueing is right on for an advanced workout. She doesn't spend a lot of time telling you where to be or what to do because if you stick with it you'll figure it out. I used to dislike any video that I couldn't automatically pick up right away but now I realize it just takes a few tries to figure the moves out. This one got my heart rate up so much that i was drenched with sweat at the end which was just what i was looking for. As a practicing martial artist this one was perfect for me. It has prompted me to purchase 3 more of Amy's Kickbox oriented DVD's. The music rocks! Thank you Amy, i am already seeing results on the scale! - posted by Andrea on 4/7/2010
Fun- great first Amy video
If you haven't ever done one of her videos this is a GREAT one to start with. At first (or if you aren't in great shape) it is alot of fun and moderately difficult both choreographically and physically. Her cueing is better in this than alot of her other workouts. Amy's form isn't so excellent but I want a workout not a lesson in form so it doesn't bother me. I do have to agree with the one reviewer that this doesn't reach "advanced" in my opinion. Intermediate/advanced seems more applicable. When I got it I thought it was very hard but turned out that I used it to get myself into the more advanced tapes. It's also a good one to get used to Amy's cueing. I put this one at the same difficulty as her Hi-lo video. But not even close to ASCII, ASCIII or "In the Ring". I still like to do this one occasionally because it is quite fun, but I save it for those "my legs still hurt from yesterday" days. - posted by Amanda on 4/2/2010

Reading a Time Graph
X
Each workout shows a time graph of the workout sequence, from beginning to end. For example, this workout starts with a 10-minute warm-up and ends with a 10-minute stretch. In between, you'll do aerobics, then toning, then a cooldown.
sample time graph
Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.

Premixes
X
These are alternate workouts created by the manufacturer. They use the same content as the main program (i.e. the very same video footage). But the sections are re-edited into pre-made alternative workouts that you select from a menu. These are often condensed versions of the main workout.
Chapter menus
X
You can play only the individual workout segments you want by picking them off a chapter menu (one at a time).
Level
X
Beginner: Just starting out, very overweight or haven't exercised in over six months.

Intermediate: Active in sports, dance or any regular exercise (2 to 3 times per week).

Advanced: Very active in sports or consistently work out four or more times per week.

Aerobics impact
X
Lower Impact: Both feet never leave the ground at the same time. This minimizes stress on your knees.

Higher Impact: Includes movements like jumps, hops and skips. Very high-impact is called plyometrics.

Mixed Impact: This alternates or combines the above styles.

Aerobics choreography
X
Basic: The easiest to follow. It ranges from simple walking-style marches to sports and athletic movements.

Complex: More intricate combinations and patterns. They're ideal for people who like to dance.

Moderate: More interesting than Basic, less dancy than Complex.

Toning emphasis
X
Upper body: Arms, chest and back.

Lower Body: Legs, thighs, hips and buttocks.

Abs: Abdominals (stomach), core and sometimes lower back.

Total body: Tones all three of the above muscle groups.

Floor aerobics & toning
X
Definition: Includes two workout activities. The aerobics segments are fast-paced standing movements like marching, dancing and jumping. These segments require no equipment. The toning sections are slow, controlled movements working against a resistance. These may include Pilates and weight training.

Benefits: The combination of both activities provides a balanced workout. The aerobics burns calories, strengthens your heart and increases stamina. The toning builds lean muscles, increases your metabolism and makes everyday activities easier.
