Certified instructor description: Two very gentle total-body stretch programs exquisitely filmed in the Canadian Rockies (blue skies, pine trees, towering mountains). Each program is ideally structured to match the specific time of day. “AM” begins with floor stretches and body-awakening breathing, then advances into standing routines to align your posture for the upcoming day. “PM” reverses the sequence; it starts with standing moves and finishes with active/passive lying stretches designed to “end each day calm, relaxed and ready for a good night’s sleep.” Quiet music and soothing, voiceover cuing. ©2002. A.M. and P.M. Stretch

Great for improving flexibility without a "yoga" workout
I highly recommend this DVD for those looking to improve their flexibility or for stress relief. It seems that 9 out of 10 DVDs on this website categorized under the goal "flexibility" are yoga workouts. This DVD, while it does include some yoga poses, contains more traditional (I think they refer to it as "athletic") stretches. The stretches are generally gentle and the instructor does a great job cueing. I've had this DVD for 8 years and still love it! - posted by Lena on 4/2/2012
Very good stretching video
I have done this stretching workout several times. I really like the A.M. stretching routine. It incorporates some yoga poses, but is mostly an overall stretch routine. I like the P.M. workout a little less. The instructor is very good, calming and the scenery is reason enough to watch the DVD. Overall, I would recommend this DVD. - posted by Robin on 3/29/2012
Excellent routine
This is an excellent routine. I love the fact that I can follow her instructions without ever having to look at the screen. I do the AM or PM routine on alternating days (when I am not doing strength training) but I am considering doing it everyday because the results are invigorating and effective. - posted by Cheri on 3/20/2012
Great workout
I love this workout. The instructor uses words I understand - plus her voice is calming. It's easy to follow and it really stretches my body. - posted by Belinda on 1/26/2012
Terrific relaxation!
While this DVD isn't called yoga, it does contain many yoga-like poses. Both the AM and PM segments are very relaxing. I like Madeline Lewis a lot. I've done yoga for many years and I still felt like I had completed a thorough routine at the end. Both segments pass by quickly. - posted by Victoria on 11/19/2011
Liked it!
Easy, easy to follow. Nice start to Yoga if you're thinking of that. Music is relaxing. Madeleine Lewis has a calming voice and relays instructions well. Good for stretching and shows you where you need flexibility improvement and muscle strengthening. - posted by Linda on 10/29/2011
I almost missed this wonderful experience
Viewed this tape and put it away. When a hip pain caused me to stop using my favorites, I pulled it out. Now I use it every morning. It has made a wonderful difference in how I feel each day, and has helped my posture, and flexibility. - posted by Pam on 8/18/2011
Perfect for the office worker
Working at a computer all day and having Fibromyalgia are both challenges to keeping my muscles flexible but this video helped me tremendously. The am part got all the kinks out and started my day out right. The pm part helped me unwind and relax properly for the first time in ages. Thanks - posted by Claire on 7/18/2011
Great Video
Great instruction, great stretches. Really great for someone like me who has lower back pain. I tried it in the morning when I am normally really stiff and felt 100% after. The exercises have also helped after a workout. - posted by Gayle on 6/30/2011
A little too easy
I feel nice and rejuvenated after doing either of these workouts. HOWEVER--despite the fact that I am extremely inflexible, I feel that the stretches are not challenging enough. I would say that if you are in REALLY bad shape--ie, recovering from an injury, have a chronic back problem--then this would be a good workout for you. A personal example--one day last week I sat in a car for several hours, took a 7-hour flight, got home at 1AM, and went straight to bed. The next day I was so stiff and sore I could barely move. I did both the AM and PM workouts the next day, and they were perfect for me. But on an average day they just don't do enough. - posted by Carrie on 5/19/2011

Reading a Time Graph
X
Each workout shows a time graph of the workout sequence, from beginning to end. For example, this workout starts with a 10-minute warm-up and ends with a 10-minute stretch. In between, you'll do aerobics, then toning, then a cooldown.

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.
