Certified instructor description: Each 10-minute segment captures the essence of classic Pilates — control, breathing and core conditioning. For maximum efficiency, they all incorporate only the most effective and challenging moves for each section. The first three routines focus on a specific muscle group: abs, buns/thighs, arms/upper-body. That’s followed by a flowing, fast-paced total-body segment and a deep stretch/flexibility section. Lara Hudson’s one-on-one cuing is clear and precise (with lots of helpful reminders about the little things that can make a big difference in results). Requires 2 to 3 lb. dumbbells. ©2004. 10 Minute Solution: Pilates

Fast and Effective
I enjoy this video so much I just sent it to a friend. You can choose which area to wish to target that day. It is easy to follow and when you are not in the mood to exercise, you can always push yourself to do just 10 minutes! - posted by Pattie on 2/23/2012
Good, well-rounded Pilates workout
I have purchased a few Pilates workouts in the past, but I gave them all away because they were either too long and repetitive or the exercises seemed too hard to do. Recently I decided to try Pilates again. I'm so glad that I picked this DVD because it's exactly what I was looking for. The 10-minute segments hold my attention, and they are easy to perform yet still challenge my body so that I feel that I am getting results. The instructor has a supportive, calm, and knowledgeable demeanor, which I can easily relate to. - posted by Giovanna on 1/26/2012
Great workout
This is a great work out dvd I use when I need something low intensity. I still feel my muscles burning (especially the abs) so I know I am getting a great workout. I love the mix and match set up too. Great dvd. - posted by Danielle on 8/11/2011
Surpisingly fun
I'm new to Pilates and thought this would be a nice addition to my exercise routine, which typically is a 30 minute run 4 times a week and a weight workout 2 times a week. I consider myself to be in pretty good condition and was happy to realize this video gives you a very decent workout. I like the format of the video, where you can either pick one exercise or create your own workout from the various selections. More than that, Lara, the instructor, is in excellent shape and does a wonderful job demonstrating and explaining the importance of breathing and all the "little" things that someone new to Pilates may not know about, like, "pull the air all the way in through your lungs into your back"..."now push all the air out through your lungs". The abdominal exercises had me moaning (a good moan) and I was surprised that I was sore the next morning after doing the "Pilates for Sculpting". I love to use this video after a tough run and when I need some kind of toning exercise that doesn't take long but can provide an effective workout. I definitely will be keeping this. - posted by Wendy on 6/16/2011
Good Work Out
Easy to follow the exercises and they are not to difficult physically. I really like the 10 minute format. - posted by Dawn on 6/9/2011
Great DVD for an off day!
I chose this DVD for two reasons: 1) I needed a DVD I could use on my off days from intense cardio and weights, and 2) I needed to work on my core and flexibility and I am glad I got it. I especially liked the core and cardio sections and I thought it was well cued and executed. I actually did the whole DVD the first time I got it but like the other 10 min solution DVDs I love the option of choosing the time and mix and matching routines. Great purchase! - posted by Laurel on 6/9/2011
well-cued, gentle flow
This is such a well rounded, basic, yet effective routine. Collage's label of begin/int is right on b/c while it's great as an introduction to pilates, it's not for the beginner exerciser. I've taken pilates classes in the past, so I can attest that Laura's instruction in the abdominal section is spot on for getting you into the correct position in order to really feel the burn! I've turned to this DVD several times over the last 6 months. First, for those trying to fit workouts into a busy schedule, this is a no dread, can do before bed option when your other workout plans have gone awry. And secondly, I'm now recovering from an injury that effects my entire leg, and I've found that the low impact of this routine is just what the doctor ordered! I like it so much that I just ordered the pilates for beginners w/ Laura - posted by Megan on 2/24/2011

Love this DVD!
This is by far my favorite Pilates DVD. My old copy got scratched and would no longer play, so I just ordered a new one. I am not one who likes to exercise, but I enjoy Lara's personality and routines on this DVD. She is easy to follow, with fluid motions and no bouncing around. It has helped me with back problems and strengthened my whole body. - posted by Carole on 5/14/2010
EXCELLENT
This exercising program has helped me greatly to strengthen my muscles, specially my back. Over a year ago I purchased a couple of pilates exercising programs in dvd, and none of them worked out good for me but this one, some were too advanced and others very basics. This one was just right. I use 3 times a week, and it's perfect with my busy schedule. I am definitely very happy with the results and how it has toned my body overall. I very much recommend it. - posted by Lisa on 10/14/2009

Reading a Time Graph
X
Each workout shows a time graph of the workout sequence, from beginning to end. For example, this workout starts with a 10-minute warm-up and ends with a 10-minute stretch. In between, you'll do aerobics, then toning, then a cooldown.

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.
